I come here to get gas because it's cheaper and closer to where I live, but boy do I pay with years shaved off my life because of many stressful situations I've been here. Sometimes not all pumps work, folks drive like maniacs, you really have to watch it because there are too many ways in and out and no one wants to give up, everyone is in a rush... to get into an accident? I was getting ready for a trip to Palm Springs, so I decided to use the cheapest gas station around me, which so happened to be USA Gasoline. Sure, the price for gas is great here, but here's what annoyed me: Pump 3 had the safety tape broken, which could mean that it's potentially rigged to steal your credit card information. The cashier charged my two Dr. Pepper bottles ($1.74 each) as an "Unknown" item for $2.00 each. I'm new to California, so most of this will maybe seem elementary and behind the times, but this was my first experience paying cash for gas! I normally pay it on my credit card and the station by my house right now let's me do that for $3.69 a gallon. Naturally, I've been driving around wondering why gas prices vary so much- when someone let me know about paying cash, I decided to try it out! I don't know why, but I was prepared for the worst at USA Gasoline. As a generation X kid, I don't know if I've ever had a human interaction getting gas- luckily for me that streak is ongoing (our world is socially doomed, I know.) They have prepay gas machines outside where you just pick your pump number and pay there, before going to pump your gas. It was super easy! I don't know how it would change things if you didn't need a full tank- obviously there's not much of a change system, but today I needed a full tank- and I got it for $30!! Seriously, I'm not one to be very stingy- but like I say, I pay $3.69 a gallon by my house and I payed $3.21 a gallon at USA Gasoline. I'd say it's definitely worth running your tank low and paying cash! read more

CHANGING MY REVIEW FROM ONE STAR TO FIVE STARS. Today Weights and Measures checked that pump and claimed it checked out ok. Mr. Cortez from there explained that my gas tank could hold between 3 and 4 more gallons if I forced it in. I guess that is what I did. He said all the pumps were checked there last November and they all checked out. He said it is rare for a gas station to calibrate the pumps to cheat the customer. He claimed less than 1/2 of one percent. He only encountered it once and wasn't sure it happened in that case. I was trying to delete this message but Yelp won't let me, only add an addendum. CHEATING AT THE GAS PUMPS. Today I paid for 15.2 gallons at Pump #2 but my tank only holds 13.2 gallons. Also I pulled in when the fuel pump light came on which means I had another 41 miles to go. I get 30 miles to the gallon. So that's more than 3 gallons of gas I was cheated of. Who do I report this to? Also are there any cheap stations near North Hollywood that DON'T make a practice of cheating the customers? read more

Every time I come to this place every single gas pump prompts you to "see cashier" no matter what. This is a major inconvenience to anyone in a hurry & I know it's just a money making scheme. Funny part is, I leave every time it does this to take my business elsewhere, and I know many others do the same. One of the first times I decide not to drive up to Costco and this happens. I had low fuel I put $5.77 that's what I had and change in my car in. I drove away and I noticed that the low fuel light still was on and my fuel tank had not changed at all I mediately turn back around and went back and told the girl come look I have low fuel nothings changed I give you the money whatever happened with your pump it didn't put gas in my car. She gave me a receipt which I said that's fine that's the receipt but I I'm telling you come look in my car there's no fuel it says low fuel and even the amount I gave you says a gallon and a half that means I should have at least 25 or 30 miles and it would have lifted my fuel a little above empty. I get my gas at USA since the price is right but the north Hollywood location is a big disappointment, compared to the nicer station in Pasadena. The pumps are beat up and scratched with graffiti, the squeegee buckets don't have any soap, and forget about paper towels, you have to ask for them inside the mini mart. To top it off, literally, you have to contend with the pan handlers, one of whom sat down between two pumps and loudly scolded the new arrivals. What a disaster! Oh, and I made the mistake of approaching the atm, with its medieval steel keyboard cover, of course, the machine was out of order. Be warned, fellow motorist, this station might be at the popular intersection of cahuenga and magnolia, adjacent to the trendy arts district, but it's a ghastly place! read more

It's okay for cars that don't mind gas octane but if you drive a luxury car requiring higher octane then not so good. I filled up my Audi there have to take high octane and literally immediately after I filled up my car it started pinging and being sluggish and wasn't working as normal , so I'm very skeptical in the quality of gas. read more

This is not a bad gas station. Certainly the prices are good, and most of the time, the card readers at the pump work. However, EVERY time I've gone there in the evening, and I mean every time, I've been approached by a panhandler for money while I'm at the pumps. The last time, it was a man and woman team who were hanging out by a car they parked by one of the pumps and hitting up every new person who came by. As a woman who usually stops by in the evenings after work, it doesn't feel exactly safe. read more
