When I asked an employee for help finding volleyball sneakers, they responded by pointing me toward the volleyball equipment section, which did not answer my question at all. Thankfully, A.J., who was working in the sneaker area, understood what I was asking and stepped in to help. He was patient, knowledgeable and made the rest of the experience much easier. I ended up spending more than $600, and honestly, A.J.'s customer service is the main reason.

With that said, once inside, they do a great job of stocking as much as possible given that this is a slightly smaller Big 5 location than others. I always make a point of coming to this location first because chances are checkout lines will be shorter and then if they don't have what I'm looking for I go up the street to the Granada Hills location. Staff here is also very friendly. They tend to only be at the register and aren't wandering around the store a ton, but I've also never really needed help finding things as the store is very well laid out and intuitive. Prices are fine. Nothing amazing, but they're better priced than other big box sporting good store chains so, once again, this is always our first stop for gear for our 3 growing kids & their youth sports gear. If you give them your email you'll get a weekly email with some good deals that often are catered to whatever sport season is about to start as well which I greatly appreciate. If not, chances are you'll get a coupon in the mail for 20% off or $5 off a purchase of $20 or more. So always keep an eye out for one of those if you know you are going to need to buy anything.

Instead they were focused on a group of of about 3 other people just chatting away about something or another. When they finally did address us, they seemed a bit confused by the vouchers, but eventually went in the back and brought out some 'pull night' packs for baseball and a few extra NBA cards for good measure. I appreciated that they gave out a little extra to some very appreciative kids. Parking is really the only major drawback. It's a small lot and there's only really one in and out. The staff worked with us to order a bicycle with the exact specifications we were looking for. They ordered a Beaumont Cruiser and it was perfect! One interesting thing about the Beaumont is that it comes with a warranty but only if it's assembled by a certified bike shop. Luckily, Second Wind is certified and they assembled the bike for us. By the way, my bike is brand new. So this store not only sells used items but new ones too. And they can order items too. Just a week or two ago they were able to press one of my jersey. I didn't have the number kit and advise me to get one and they would be able to press it I mean I'm reasonable, and I understand rules can change, but I did buy my jersey on your website and still not be able to get it pressed is a bit disappointing. After I left the store I called two of their other locations. Both of them told me they could press my jersey and that I would just need to pay for the jersey number installation. That left me confused because I was getting completely different answers from different Nicky's Sports locations. I called back to speak with the manager Jason hoping to get some clarification. Unfortunately he didn't seem very concerned and simply told me he had to follow the owner's instructions. I understand there may be some risk involved with pressing customer jerseys and I respect that. My issue is that there doesn't seem to be consistent communication or policies between locations. If the policy has changed it should have been communicated clearly to both employees and customers. What should have been a quick and simple service turned into a frustrating experience. Because of this I won't be doing business with Nicky's Sports anymore in person or online. I'll be buying my jerseys elsewhere, or to another local shop that values having values there business while displaying good communication and customer service.
