We purchased it late Monday night. Two days later I noticed that on both sides of the car, the weather stipping around the false window (plastic) was melted. I drove to the dealership and showed them expecting they'd fix it. Well, after numerous texts and a couple of phone messages, they did nothing. They said I must have had the car detailed and a pressure washer caused the damage. Sorry, it's impossible for a pressure washer to melt that rubber weather stripping. I never had anyone detail it. It was brand new and only 2 days old. We had sunshine both days, no rain. After filing complaints over the phone with Toyota they said they'd have the sales manager call me. He never did. I asked the sales manager to forward my pictures of the damage to the GSM but they did NOTHING. My wife even had a picture of the car that shows the damage the night we brought it home with a date stamp but we didn't notice it that night. I will never do business with Edmark Toyota again. The rubber weather stripping would have cost them less than $50. It's clear to me that they used a heat gun to remove the glue that held the plastic sheeting over the window since someone applied it to the weather stripping instead of directly onto the plastic window or the rear glass windows. Good customer service would have kept a customer for life.

They came in under their work estimates for 2 of the three jobs they did and were prompt in responding to queries. I am not an expert on airstreams so I don't know what to expect in terms of cost but I was not surprised. The total work for a doorknob repair, bearing/axle exam and repacking, and bodywork for the above collision took about 45 days; I was not in a hurry, and it was a lot of work, so no complaints there. Finished work was beautiful. When the transport company for my cousin showed up a week early, they called me and were able to release the trailer to the transporter when my wife went over in person-- the right move for the situation, since I was out of cell phone range. Al Martinez responded to texts promptly when I asked for work updates. All in all an excellent experience in helping me in an unfortunate situation.

Fortunately for us, Boise was once "home" and we had our bug serviced here several times. In spite of being booked out about three months in advance, Mr. Allan managed to work us into his tight schedule, starting on a Friday; the following Monday we were told that the car was ready to go. Indeed it was! Our front wheel bearing had gone dry and were on the verge of catastrophic failure. My clutch cable was getting worn and starting to fray; a simple replacement was compounded by a build up of old grease from the previous owner's mechanics. The grease had solidified making it impossible to pass a new cable through the housing; had this cable broken on the open road, I wouldn't have been able to replace it and continue. Mr. Allan spent a lot of time working to break through that "clog". I'm grateful for his perseverance. I've never had issues with this shop in the 11 years we received service here prior to moving out of state, and find some of the poor reviews to be a little suspicious. Frankly I'm sad that I now live 2600 miles away, as it's becoming difficult to find people who know what they're doing when it comes to servicing old Volkswagens. VW people in, or around, the Treasure Valley should be grateful to have a knowledgeable and experienced resource such as Allan's Automotive at their disposal!
