When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff, got to take a look around the rescue and see some of their other pets. Everyone was clearly passionate about what they do, which was a great sight to see. The animals appeared to be well taken care of. She's been great and I was so impressed with the experience I had with this rescue that I started volunteering there. The rescue takes in mostly German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois from puppies to seniors and from various backgrounds - strays, owner surrenders, from other shelters (some on the e-list), medical hardships, etc. Once under SPRA care the dogs are well fed, are walked and/or get play time outside of their kennels 4 times a day, receive medical care if needed, etc. The volunteers and staff also work with the dogs on socialization and basic training. It's also important to know that SPRA is a no kill shelter. Bottom line, if you're looking for a German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois please check out Saving Paws Rescue Arizona. They have so many wonderful dogs looking for a family like my pup pictured below, adopt don't shop.

I'm so thankful I found Usdoodles, It's very hard to find an amazing breeder who you can trust. They are very professional and stayed in contact with me throughout the entire process. They sent me new born photos as well as updates while I was waiting until my puppy was of age to come home. My dog Presley is now 1 year old and has been a complete blessing. My wife and I had wanted a dog for a long time and we were finally in the right place in our lives…read moreto get one. We had seen the ALGBR website and were enamored with a few of the dogs they had listed. They also list "events" on their website at a few Petsmart locations on different weekends of the month. Since we were looking on the 3rd Saturday, we went to the Petsmart on McKellips and Power to hopefully meet some of the dogs. We drove from central Phoenix all the way out to Mesa. . .but apparently they don't bring any of their rescues to these "events". They did have a handy binder containing printouts of all of the listings we had seen online. Ok. . . Since we were there, we filled out an application and gave it to one of the volunteers, along with the $15 app fee, and a copy of our current lease showing that dogs are allowed and we've paid all associated pet fees, and the volunteers assured us we'd be contacted in 24-48 hours. By the way, the adoption application is way more intense than any college admissions application I've ever filled out. "If your new Rescue needed an emergency operation, which might cost you $1,000 to $1,500 would you do it, if your Veterinarian said it was necessary? " Does anyone ever write in "It depends on how much it costs to euthanize. . ."??? Seriously. Anyway, 48 hours later and no call, I decided to give a call to the # listed on the website, and got a messaging system on which I left my information. I got a call back a few hours later, and the nice woman told me that if I gave my application to a volunteer, they were probably just going to mail it in for us, so just fill out another application online and email it to them. Great - the trip out to Mesa was officially a complete and utter waste of time. 24- 48 hours after emailing the electronic application and still no phone call. So I called them up again and the same woman answered, thanked me for the application, told me that they did eventually get the one I filled out by hand, and that someone would be contacting me shortly to set up a home visit. So the wife and I decided instead to go to the AZ Humane Society Campus for Compassion where we got a lovely puppy that we adore, totally hassle free. 2 stars to ALGBR only because they are doing a wonderful and noble charity by rescuing dogs. But it's obvious that these volunteers are not interested in giving up their "adoptable" dogs and would rather be lifetime fosters to their rescues. UPDATE - it's 2.5 years later and ALGBR still hasn't called me about my application ;-) Wish I could get that $15 back.

We were very satisfied and pleased with the professional nature and compassion of the organization. They basically rescue Labrador Retrievers and other large dogs from owners around the state who no longer can keep them (for various reasons). The rescue org. takes the dogs in and puts them in loving foster homes until the dogs can be adopted. The process was amazingly straight forward to adopt a dog. You look at the bios of adoptable dogs on their website, download an application on-line, schedule a home-interview with one of their reps. They then come to the house at your convenience and look at the application...they check to check to make sure you're not a crazy person and will actually care for the dog. :) The next step is finding a dog that you love from the website. They have puppies all the way to older adult dogs. Also, the organization knows many of the dogs histories, since many of them aren't strays. So, you know from their bios what the dogs temperament is right off the bat. When you find a dog you like from the website, the foster parent drives the dog to your house. You then see how well the dog gets along with your other dogs or kids, if you have them and if you want the dog, you fill out a little paperwork, pay the adoption fee and have a wonderful new addition to your home. If you find the dog doesn't fit your needs, more foster dogs will come to your house until you find one that fits. We are so pleased with our dog and can't imagine life without him!!

I was told my Goldendoodle would be 35-45 lbs, and the rehoming paperwork reflected that range. I was also told the mother was approximately 35 lbs and the father around 45 lbs. I was not allowed to see the parents in person, only photos, due to the breeder stating they had a bad experience with a previous buyer. My dog continued growing well past one year and is now over 60 lbs. A friend of mine adopted a littermate, and her dog is closer to 70 lbs. When I contacted the breeder to ask about the size discrepancy, I was told the dogs must be this size because we were "feeding them too much," which is simply not accurate. This misrepresentation has caused real issues in my home. I live with my elderly father, who is frail and has early dementia, and I also have a much smaller dog. Managing a dog nearly double the promised size has created safety and stress concerns that could have been avoided with honest disclosure. I'm sharing this so future buyers can make a fully informed decision and ask very specific questions before committing.
