This place has quickly become one of my new favorite spots for sushi. I came here for lunch during the week and took advantage of their $10 lunch special. You get 4 pieces of three rolls and a miso soup. They also serve pork, shrimp, and fish buns on the lunch menu. The lunch menu however is only offered Monday through Friday, (to my disappointment when I came on Saturday craving their pork bun). They also have the conveyor belt during weekday evenings and on the weekend. Their sushi menu is quite extensive and they also serve poke, noodles, and Chinese appetizers. The conveyor belt sushi are placed on different colored plates that signify different price points. You open the glass window next to your table and grab whatever you like. The portions are like tapas, and the price point is fair so you are able to try a few different things without breaking bank. The sushi is extremely fresh. Everything I have tried has been excellent. I also had my first pork bun here and it was amazing. It has become my new obsession. Which is surprising because I'm not a fan of pork unless its bacon. I dined here on New Year's Eve. I was surprised that they only had a few people there. And I found the layout of restaurant, that has a conveyor belt system serpentining it's way around tables, a bit awkward. And shortly after I arrived, they were clearing out the conveyor belt items, as it was the last hour before closing. But those types of items aren't what would usually interest me anyway. I was put off by them not having a sushi bar area to sit at. I prefer to be able to deal directly with the sushi chef as I have particular request that most waiters don't understand; and I like to see the selection, quality and fattiness of the fish to better chose what I would be happy with. I had called ahead to see if they had uni, fatty salmon & fatty yellowtail. And I had asked about getting the uni with shredded daikon & oba leaf. They said they had all of those items. But my waiter, Deivis, was very inexperienced and I had to repeat everything which he didn't understand nor did he have answers to basic questions. It was VERY irritating and frustrating. He also was trying to rush me, from the get go. I said that I had just called ahead and was told that I could still sit down, order and eat there! He doesn't grasp the concept that just because you seat until 9:30, doesn't mean that you expect to leave then! I had to make him go get the manager or owner; I'm not sure which she was. He also did not know which sakes were unfiltered when I inquired. The manager came to my table, I explained my order to her and ordered the Ozeki unfiltered cold sake, which is very good. I asked for a house salad first, that they had led me to think came with a classic orange/ginger dressing (when I had asked over the phone); but it actually is a too basic salad consisting of just lettuce and a coarse ginger dressing with no creaminess or orange flavor, so I asked for some mayo to mix in it. I had also asked for some cucumber and avocado, but none was added! I asked for the shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer next. And I also said that I would start with 1 order each of the fatty salmon & yellowtail sashimi and stated that I may want more depending on how much I liked it, after I would receive it. I also asked for the uni sashimi style with shredded daikon and oba or seiso leaves. The waiter was vacant with no understanding. I had to make him consult with the manager on that and wanting a scallop hand roll with diced scallops mixed with mayo & masago, with avocado and cucumber on the side. I also ordered the unagi nigiri. The yellowtail and salmon were of good quality so I wanted to order a 2nd order of each. But they said they had no more of the fatty yellowtail. I had to ask again about the scallop hand roll and about the avocado & cucumber. And he brought the uni on rice which I had to point out that I had made it clear that I had asked for it sashimi style and with shredded daikon and shiso/oba leaf. He had to bring it back and returned with no daikon. They had none! Sheesh! I had mostly come there because they had sea urchin/uni; but it wasn't good enough to want a second order or ever come back for it. And I didn't get the tempura appetizer until after I received everything else. I had to ask for stacked up empty dishes to be removed!...and then more stacked up again with the waiter walking by clueless. I got some green tea ice cream to go. The bill came & I had to get a double charge for the avocado & cucumber that I received once, removed. I gave the waiter a 15% tip even though I was frustrated with his lack of experience, competence or comprehension. Overall the seafood, tempura and ice cream were of high quality but missing elements combined with the lack of good experienced service and not very good sea urchin brought my rating down to 3 stars. So I don't think I would come back here since there are better, less frustrating choices. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for a bit but it's about 20 mins away home. I ended up being in the area and decided to go alone. Sadly I haven't been able to find too many Japanese restaurant here that are the high quality. This place definitely is! I can't wait to come back! Service was great! I went there twice for lunch special and food was generally good. Miso soup could have been a little less watered down. Salmon was good. My old issue was the check. There was a mistake where the ikura in poke bowl was $1.50 uncharge but it seemed they added $5 upcharge. I asked for them to remove and they finally did. No big deal. Second time I took co-workers. I ordered the Ramen and poke bowl combo. Ramen was fine. The tonkotsu was tasty. The egg tasted like sake which is weird, should taste more like the soy sauce style egg, but it's not the worst. My issue was the dessert. We ordered it and I saw a charge of 13.95 for it. The lunch was 12.95, but the dessert was more. I was not very happy about this and the server said dessert is not on the menu, but the Thai donut dessert was and the price was right. I didn't feel that ice cream was worth that much and I felt they charged whatever they wanted and I couldn't say anything. It's frustrating. My co-workers said they would return but honestly I won't again. The poke bowl side was just rice and fish, no sesame seeds, nothing else. Was good but super basic. I feel the waitress is finding any opportunity to double charge or charge more, not cool. And food is meh so not enough for me to return. read more

We were such fans of Ushio until we were not. I would always get the Tonkotsu ramen, never a problem until tonight. We picked up our to-go order and noticed the pork we got was 95% fat. We called Ushio, to which their response was "for the pork belly, it's a fatty cut". Yes, I'm aware it's a fatty cut, I've gotten it over ten times already... however, tonight's cut was pure fat, nothing anyone would really enjoy eating. Long story short, food is ok, customer service is nonexistent and will be hard to ever order from there again. Food: I ordered a chirashi bowl from the lunch menu where I picked my own items for the bowl. So I picked salmon, poke tuna, eel, Seaweed salad, and avocado. Everything in my bowl was great, except the avocado. The avocado was not ready so it tasted funny. This also comes with a soup or salad which I don't really care for since it does not taste that great to me. Service: service was good. Nothing too special, they took our order and brought us our food. Worth: I haven't been here for dinner yet but their lunch menu is definitely worth it. The menu items are a lot better than what's circulating, in my opinion, but it's fun if you haven't had this experience before. 5 stars for their sushi sashimi combo. This is what has made me a loyal customer. For $27 you get a combo of 4 different sashimi, 5 nigiri, & a tuna maki. Their sushi rice is delicious & the fish is so fresh, making it the best priced sashimi meal in the area. Their ramen is tasty as well & I've always had great experiences with the staff. Weird experience here. Yes still 3 stars. Service was a little slow and first Japanese's place we go to where is no honey for the tea or spoon to stir in the sugar. The sushi was ok. What they say is spicy has nothing spicy really. Good thing here is that the sushi you order comes in small portions (4 pieces) and the price is just right for what you get. They also have a sushi conveyer belt passing through the tables but there was hardly anything being served in there so that was corny. The hostess there was just leaning with her back against the wall like she couldn't wait for the night to be over AND, first Japanese place in a long time that had non-Japanese waitresses, which is fine, but that usually tends to give a customer more confidence in ordering or at least thinking they know what and how they serve sushi. read more

Found this sushi joint on my way home from work today. Love the set up! Restaurant is very laid back and pretty chill for the most part. Love the fact that there is already prepared sushi and dessert on a moving counter to where you can just reach in and grab your own plate. Depending on what type of sushi will determine your price of course. Overall, I strongly agree that their pricing all in all for the most part fair! The Dragon eel was oh so yummy! I went to Ushio Sushi tonight with my daughters. The service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The reason for my 5 star rating is because we had an issue with a dish we ordered, and it was handled so professionally, I was amazed. Never have I experienced this at a restaurant. The waitress came to our table and said the entire check (2 appetizers and a sushi boat for 2) would be completely comped. I made the trek from south Miami to plantation to try this conveyor belt sushi joint. My overall experience was mediocre at best. The advertised plates ranged from $1.75-$6.50 a plate. However, the only plates available to choose from we're $3.50. The $1 plates were used to hoist pictures up (see photo). So don't drive all the way there expecting $1.75 plates of sushi, they do not exist. The selection was limited; mainly salmon, California rolls. However, the salmon was good. The most important thing to know about this restaurant is that it is NOT kaiten sushi, or sushi rotating on a conveyor belt. A lot of patrons, including myself, went to Ushio Sushi because they advertised kaiten sushi on their website. We chose it over much closer sushi restaurants because we were expecting this special kind of sushi experience. Their website today STILL shows photos and says "Conveyor belt sushi, sushi-go-round, the sushi train, all are terms used for "Kaiten-zushi," where pieces of sushi literally go round and round in front of your table for you to pick up and eat." This just isn't true. When we arrived, a family in front of us was looking for the conveyor belt sushi and were told that they didn't have it. They were disappointed and left immediately. We decided to stay because we had already driven a long way and it was late. A cynical person might think that Ushio Sushi is trying to do a bait and switch.
