The first time we came here with my husband, we had a great experience, ordering one of their three shareable meal platters. It was a jumbo tray with a full pineapple, fried rice, flavorful meat, and an appetizer. I do not recall because it's been a while. At that point, I would have given this place five stars because we had good service. But the second time around, I came with a girlfriend, and it was disappointing. Because I had a good time the first time, I thought she would like it too, and assumed all the other menu items would be up to par along with the customer service... But it was a stark difference from the last visit. We took our time perusing through the menu, which is large and had good variety, so it took us a while to finally decide. But I was perplexed why we never got the platter menu so after some time, I asked our waitress for the menu and she said "Oh whoops, I should've given that first!" That already was a red flag because if that's the first menu for us to see, in which it was the first menu I saw last time, it tells me their platters are the best sellers and the rest of the menu are mid... My friend ordered the chicken teriyaki and she wasn't pleased. I thought it's perhaps because she chose a simpler dish, but when she offered me to try it, I can see why she disliked it... The chicken was unbearably dry and lacked flavor. I got the Hong Kong noodles with beef and it wasn't bad. We shared egg rolls before our meals which were OK, but I never received my tom yum soup. The service was slow and the waitress was not attentive at all. It was a little busier with several tables filled compared to my last visit, but we saw a party of three arrive 20 minutes after us and they were able to leave before we finished our dinner, so that made us feel like we were an afterthought. So with that experience, I bring my stars down to 3 and recommend that if you do visit, the large sharable platters are the only things worth it there. As you've read in my experience, customer service is hit or miss. It looks like a trendy spot with each booth having a neon-lit quote, so I'll give it that. The platters looked very trendy and aesthetic, but the apps and meals we had from the regular menu did NOT look trendy or aesthetic at all. I've been here several times since they opened, and every experience has been wonderful. I've come with my daughter, my best friend, and on separate occasions with my boo--and everyone has enjoyed it! Pete and Santi are absolutely amazing and provide excellent service every time. They make you feel welcomed and taken care of, which makes the whole dining experience even better. Now let's talk about the FOOD! The Magic Roll, Popcorn Shrimp, Hong Kong Noodles, Katsu Ramen, and Mongolian Beef are an absolute MUST-TRY. Everything has been so delicious and flavorful. Ren has easily become a favorite spot for me after an amazing experience. The food's quality is what I appreciated the most, especially with the great prices offered at Happy Hour. My favorites of the night were the Viva Roll, the Spicy Tuna Crispy rice and the Lemon Drop cocktail. I also thought that the quality of the salmon nigiri was great and came at a very reasonable price of $5 for two decently sized pieces. While it was delicious, the portion size of the scallop robata was a bit small. The restaurant itself was very nice and modern and the booths for seating were very spacious. We absolutely love Rens!!! It has officially become our go to spot for Thai food and sushi, and we come here at least once a month. We love pretty much all of their noodle dishes. Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and everything in between are consistently delicious. Their sushi rolls are phenomenal as well. My fiancée especially loves the Dragon Roll with extra eel sauce, and it's become one of her favorites. We also try to get there early enough to take advantage of their happy hour menu, which is a great bonus. The prices are very reasonable compared to a lot of other restaurants, especially considering the quality and portions. But honestly, one of the things we appreciate most is how welcoming they are. They recognize us when we walk in, and it genuinely feels like we're visiting an old friend rather than just going out to dinner. That kind of personal touch is hard to find these days. I have been staying temporarily in the Plantation area for over a month now and we have had no choice but to eat takeout most days because of our circumstances. So I have been consistently on the hunt for good, healthy and affordable quick food in the area and my husband has been craving Thai these days. He LOVES Thai! I found Ren Thai online and placed an order for him to pickup on his way back home. 2 orders of Pad Thai for him and the kid, a Massaman Curry for me, an Aged Tofu for me as well and an order of veggie spring rolls to share. Let me first say that the photos for this place look phenomenal so I was pretty pumped to try it. to say the least. Let me also say that the food in this area seems to be pretty subpar thus far. One of my favorite dishes is Massaman Curry. I know my Massaman lemme tell ya!! This is the VERY FIRST TIME that I have had a Massaman THIS TANGY! Maybe it's Kaffir leaves? I'm not sure but the taste was overwhelmingly, lime flavored. Also, the potatoes were hard. They were nearly raw aside and so I threw them out. Furthermore, it was soupy and actually reminded me a lot of Tom Kha Gai except not as thick or as delicious. The avocado was yummy in the dish and so were the cashews but the onion was a bit undercooked as well and. I did call my order in and the guy that answered was super nice so big-ups for customer service but honestly speaking, all of the food was pretty mid. My husband wasn't feeling his Pad Thai but my daughter didn't complain. Also, the Massaman alone was $17 and I added shrimp so I paid an additional upcharge. Stopped by because of the reviews but left a little disappointed. I was there around 4pm for an early lunch and sat at the bar. It was empty other than 1 large party that seemed finish. Bartender and staff were nice. Ordered a lychee martini, gyoza, and edamame to start. The gyoza were over steamed and mushy. I had to ask 2x about the edamame and when it got to me it was cold and barely salted. I waited (not exaggerating) 25mins + for appetizers. For sushi I got the mad tuna roll which had crab cucumber with cream cheese, topped with spicy tuna, and a sweet sauce. It was extremely delicious and tasted fresh, but also took way too long. I wasn't able to order another drink because my server never swung back around. It looked like she was handling tables walking in, pick up orders, and running food. Giving 3 stars for the food being OK and the service lacking. I would definitely try again. read more

The place wasn't full so it was a nice calm environment with the beautiful booths that make it feel very intimate. I will say that they changed owners recently which lead to a new menu and it was a bit sad to see the old one go. Feels like there are more appetizer options now but less options for everything else, especially for rolls which seem to be mostly shrimp. As for the location itself, it offers a big menu with plenty of rolls, appetizers, some kitchen food, and even ramen to offer. My favorite part of the experience was definitely the drinks as they were sweet and if they were strong they sure didn't taste that way! The food we ordered was good but not my favorite sushi ever. Portion sizes were good and it tasted fresh but something was left to be desired, I just can't quite put my finger on it. Service was good albeit a little bit slow at times.
