We have had fiber service for 18 months now. Only one outage for a few hours- and they emailed ME to tell us about it! The router they give you is crap- I purchased a NETGEAR Nighthawk X4 AC2350 and have had perfect wifi speeds all over my home since. I get 100 Mbps speed for $48 with tax. I have 6-8 connections going at once (including 2-3 streaming HD AppleTV's) and never a lag or buffer. I use the Speedtest app on my iPhone to check my wifi speeds, and it always comes up as download speed of 103-108 Mbps The install was a bit annoying, but nothing like Comcast, and the staff are very friendly and responsive. read more

USI is locally based which I like. The service is ok, nothing fantastic, but not too bad. Occasionally there are outages but that happens with every company. USI is quick to answer tech calls and the reps are usually helpful. I've heard of other conglomerate companies making customers wait on hold for hours, that doesn't happen with USI. read more

Still the best high speed internet in the city. But now I can write about their technicians. My internet wouldn't work and that's more annoying than an endless sea of baby pictures on your Facebook newsfeed. So I call USI and tell them about my issue at noon on Friday, fully expecting to be internet-less for the entire damn weekend. But oh no...USI ain't nuttin' to fuck with and they sent out Colin, the fiber optic whisperer to our house within 3 hours. Colin and the neckbeard worked together to figure out what the issue was for at least 90 minutes... Does the router work? Yes. Does the hub in the basement work? Yes. Are we connected to the main hub on the street? Yes. So why isn't our internet working, Colin? "Let me try one more thing," he says. And he goes outside and discovers that a fucking squirrel had been chewing on the line that runs from outside our house to the hub in the basement. That's some National Lampoon's type shit right there. So Colin did a quick repair on the exposed line and poof, like some sort of tech geek magician...we're rocking internet so fast it could burn your eyebrows off. We love you, Colin. About ten minutes after he left, USI customer support called and set an appointment to replace the entire line this week so we never run into this issue again. I read the other reviews saying USI has really great customer service, but let me tell you, that has not been my experience with them thus far. Every time I call, I speak to someone who doesn't have answers for me, and I always hang up with nothing taken care of. I signed up with them after using Comcast, paid $50 to have a weird guy come and install everything, and THEN I'm told that that the service towers near my apartment in Uptown have been having problems for awhile. That would have been nice to know before paying buku bucks for set up and install. Now that I'm canceling (the service is in and out and in and out) as an unhappy customer, they're still asking me to pay for postage to send my box back? I think not. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm going back to Comcast. At least when you call them to cancel they bring their price down to next to nothing to keep you. read more

Absolutely the worst internet service you can pay for. Service was incredibly slow at best and non-existant at worst. When it rained, no service. Between the hours of 4pm and 8pm, almost no service. Want to watch a 5-minute YouTube video? Better set aside 30 minutes to account for the buffering time needed. Want to watch a full-length film? Are you f*^#*@(! nuts? Canceling our subscription was a ridiculously difficult process. Although we returned the modem directly to them more than 2 weeks before it was due, USI wireless failed to record the return of our modem and sent emails threatening to submit our account to debt collection if it wasn't returned prior to its due date. (Yes, they threatened to turn us over to collections a full week PRIOR to the date the modem was due to their offices.) If I hadn't kept the receipt for returning our modem, I'd still be paying for the internet service I never got to begin with. Stay away from USI wireless. Consider yourself warned. read more

I've been a customer since 2008. I've put up with crappy service because I don't really do a lot of important internet stuff at home. I worked at computer all day at work. When I moved into my current home, the service was MUCH better till about 6months ago when, according to USI, someone near me is blocking my signal. They suggested I go ask my neighbors if their router name is Steven and could they change the settings! It's back to multiple calls and fiddling with the modem, then the settings and finally getting it to work again. I am a consultant now and work from my home office more. Yesterday was the nail in the coffin. Internet went dead about 2 in the afternoon. When I called, they said they had been working on the node by me since 12/11. The response is the same; 24 - 48 hours, or maybe longer depending on what it is. No, they don't know what it is, I just reported it. Even though whatever is wrong someone has been working on for 7 days already. 24 hours later, still no service. But that's okay because they will credit my account for the time. So what!! Restore my service. I'll pay you extra! To me, Comcast is everything that is wrong with customer service and pushing your weight around. However, USI is doing the same thing, but with really, really bad internet service. Comcast is showing up next week. I feel a little like I'm selling my soul, but girl's gotta work! read more

Do you think Comcast sucks? Well they clearly do. However, USI is just as bad in different ways. Comcast is evil and awful, signing up for their service is like making some sort of Faustian deal. But rest assured, you will get super fast internet, even if it costs a pound of flesh. USI Wireless on the other hand is the Tom's of Maine in the internet world. You want to like it. You want to use it. I mean, who wouldn't want to use a deodorant made out of natural ingredients? But at the end of the day, the internet, just like your body, stinks. Unreliable. Bad. They will recommend anyone to get it over the phone and then it will be a huge time waster. I'm pretty sure you have to live inside of one of their receiving stations for the internet to be decent. If you live more than 5 inches away from their broadcaster, you will get the same internet of someone living in 1994. Keep in mind their service doesn't come with an AOL CDROM that you can use as a coaster. Which sucks, because this seems like a good company offering a good service. You really want to get behind them, but cannot. My experience is not alone, everyone I know who has or has tried it can say similar things. Yes, you will get a full refund if your internet speeds are slow. They will send out a technician who will say "Oh wow, I can't believe the sales people recommended you get this!" Umm.. thanks... Here's the kicker though. I currently get my internet through AT&T 3G and then tether it to local devices and it's much faster and more reliable. And it's cheaper, and I don't need some silly receiver thing in my window. read more

I tried USI Wireless (the Minneapolis city wi-fi) and could never get it to work very well. The internet was very spotty, only working about 75% of the time. I was patient (i.e. cheap) so I kept it for about 5 or 6 months. I paid the extra money to have them do the installation, so everything was set up correctly and the receiver was even mounted outside on the roof. I'm in Southwest Minneapolis in the middle of a block with USI nodes at both ends of the block. Their customer service was good at first, as they sent technicians out to my house several times to see if they could fix it, but they eventually gave up and actually stopped returning my calls! USI falls firmly in the of "you get what you pay for" camp. I decided to switch to Qwest, where I'm getting DSL (7mb) and a landline phone for $60. For me, the reliability and no headaches is worth it. read more

This is a review of USI's wireless service. We started using them a few years ago after we rage-quit Comcast. The good: It's cheap--about $290 for a full year. The bad: It's slow. Like, very slow. They advertise 6MB, but 1.5MB was more typical for us. (We're only half a block from a node, with a clear line of sight to the pole, but it didn't seem to provide us any benefit.) Services like Netflix and Sling TV often got stuck buffering, even when no one was using the Internet in any other fashion. As my wife and I began to work from home more frequently the service basically became unworkable for us and we ended up switching back to Comcast. Yeah, Comcast is evil and expensive, but at least they provide us a reasonable pipe. Service with USI was OK. The installation process was professional and well-done. We ran into a billing issue when we closed our service. (You have to call them to cancel--they don't allow you to close the service online.) I called over a month in advance of our renewal date to cancel, but they still tried billing us for a renewal about a week before our end date. When I called to get that cleared up their support guy told me the billing was automated, as if that explanation made any sense to a client who had canceled weeks earlier. We're optimistic that USI's fiber service will make it to our neighborhood in a year or so and would love to try it out. That said, doing so would be as much about avoiding Comcast as it would be supporting a local ISP. read more

I've been an on again off again customer since the company has rolled out this service in the City of Minneapolis. I really want to like this service, but they just cannot seem to make it work consistently well. I currently have a wireless modem, that they have mounted, and am less than 200' from the utility pole with the radio attached and I have NEVER gotten 6Mbit service. I can see it as I write this review. Average 2Mbit download and negligible upload. Although my signal is usually most excellent, so this leads me to believe that their actual network is crappy TO the net. :/ Going into my second week of sub par service and open... then closed... then open... then closed trouble tickets with no call back to follow up. Although today the rep said he'd call me back to follow up, first time they have offered -and- he gave me an extra month added to my account (I'm on annual billing cycle). When it works, about 2% of the time, its great and provides my family and I with the bandwidth we need. The other 98% of the time is spotty, crappy, service. Their customer support is great, but this may just be to "polish a turd" so to speak. I'd love to try their DSL service, but am not going to attempt any contact with CenturyLink/Qwest/USWerst at all. Would also love to be on their fiber optic network, but am currently ONE HALF BLOCK out of its reach. :( They do not require any contract and they have a great money back guarantee or at least they have for me in the past and prorated my refund the last time I attempted service. I hope they can fix my current issues so I don't have to try that again. Give it a go... YMMV. read more

I give two starts only because with USI's shitty service comes refunds for their shitty service. Otherwise it would be a one star rating. Here it is point blank people...yes you will save money with USI over comcast. However here is the kicker, If you don't rent a modem from them you can FORGET about reliable service. Hidden in their website language and from what i've been told by customer service reps is that without a modem you are not guaranteed service. IF there is a storm forget about getting service. If you don't have a modem rented from them you do not have priority connection service. To prove this on days when i get zero or little service I have taken my laptop to the corner of the street which is less than 100 ft from my apartment, stand under the telephone pole where USI's wireless node is located and attempt to connect and NO SERVICE. I filed a complaint with the BBB and from what I see from the BBB website-so have others. I got a run around the bush response from USI where they won't admit that if you don't rent a modem from them you get crappy service, they used nice language to say that it's preferable to rent a modem from them for quality service. If you want quality and reliable internet service don't go to the K-Mart of internet services which happens to be USI- go with comcast, you pay more but don't have the terrible service USI offers. read more

I decided to go to USI wireless after being fed up with comcast and not being able to go with clear channel in my area. Ordering was fast and easy over my phone, and I received several emails welcoming me and I even got a few confirmation numbers for my modem delivery. When I didn't get my modem in a couple days I called. They said it will be there, and that they didn't have any tracking number. I said, well why did I get three different emails with three different numbers with confirmations then? Obviously they didn't have an answer, and just told me it would be there. When I asked if I didn't get it by a certain date, should I call back and request a new one? he said "it will be there. if it's not then it's USPS..soo...." uhh? so if i NEVER got the modem I would be shit out of luck? Well it did come. I tried hooking it up to my computer.. the internet was detected but I couldn't get on. I tried standing at every angle and in every room, and I could never get a signal more than 1 or 2 lights. I decided on the spot that I wasn't going to deal with it, and no wonder my landlord has his mounted outside. I sent it back and they made me pay for shipping again, and it was more than what it cost to send it here. We decided to go with century link and bundle with our direct tv. should have just done that from the start. read more

I live in Mpls and have had USI Wireless for 3 years now. It's been very reliable for me. I use it to stream Netflix movies, research for homework on the internet, and play on Xbox Live several days/nights a week. The speed and reliability has improved greatly since they brought me a new upgraded outdoor modem last year (and they didn't even charge me for the upgraded modem or for the tech to come to my home and install the new one!). Their customer service is some of the best I've ever experienced. They've always been very professional and polite on the phone. I recommend this service to my friends and anyone in Minneapolis. It's way cheaper than Comcast or Qwest and works great for me. read more

I paid $100 for installation of a home modem for an "enhanced" connection that was never any faster than the standard USI city WI-FI service. I called to cancel, drove 30 minutes to an poorly marked location to return the modem and USI is still charging me the monthly fee! $100 to stick a chunk of plastic on my wall with tape??? I just want my $100 back. Comcast only charges $25 for installation, they are much more professional and knowledgable, the installation is refundable within 30 days, and IT ACTUALLY WORKS. I can stream video! Imagine that in 2013. Good luck staying in business, USI. No wonder USI charges ridiculous service fees and makes the cancellation process so tedious. What a rip off. read more

Okay, Yelp says I have to calm down my comedic take on reviews because it's apparently offensive to some of the Hillary lovers on here (Oops, was that a bad thing to say?). So I will. USI Wireless is great. I have no idea about their service except from neighbors (but I signed up for it coming Oct. 7). I have had 4 interactions with them in the last week (signing up, cancelling, getting a refund and signing up again). They have all gone perfectly (although I did spend 13 mins on hold on the last call and the guy admitted he was smoking and flirting with 2 girls...yeah, 2 girls, not 1. That alone should tell you the kind of party this company is). Anyhow, after he scored 2 phone numbers and an invite to 1 party that they were all going to be present at he still had the time (and the remaining blood pressure if you know what I mean) to take my call. He worked it all out (my call, not the rise he got from the forthcoming party - or at least not when I was on the call) and got me set up for service (not as good as the service he is going to get). So he set up my install date (not the same as the date he was going to "install" in the two girls he was talking up) and was able to get me a credit on my account even before it was set up due to me having to call the numerous times (none their fault). THEN to top it off, for some reason music came up and he happened to be a guitarist. We were talking about great musicians and I mentioned Joao Gilberto assuming this was a kid I was talking to that had no clue of real music... He came back to me with Django Reinhadrt. I lost that assumption. Moral of the story: Buy USI Wireless and listen to great, old music that set the bar for the junk you listen to these days. If I were an eBay seller I would say "A++++ Did not send me furry porn, got what I asked for an more. Would buy again!" P.S. I can't post this one to Facebook. Wow! I've moved around a lot in my life and dealt with almost every internet company including Comcast, Charter, Xfinity, Spectrum, Verizon, and Cox. (Sorry for the redundancy, they weren't always the same company) My experience with USI Wireless was hands down the best experience I have ever had getting set up. They answered the phone promptly after a very short wait, which right away is unheard of. Without needing a contract, a new modem, additional gear, or other installation fees and processes, someone signed me up and turned my internet on! Using my current wireless router I just plugged right into the wall and have internet less than half an hour after STARTING my call with USI. They promised 50Mbps upload/50Mbps download for $34 a month. After running a speed test on speedtest.net I in fact have 54 down and 50 up. With unprecedented speed, cost, and simplicity, I would highly recommend signing up with USI! read more

I had an internet connection problem. I happened to be lucky to get Amanda H. on the other end of the service call. Amanda is a kind, calm and competent customer service professional. Not only did she quickly resolve my issue she stayed on the line with me while I rebooted the system and did a systems check. I work in retail and know how difficult the customer service industry can be...for both sides. I have to admit my immediate surprise that Amanda had excellent communication skills, including but not limited to her clear and concise enunciations. Absolutely terrible customer service. I can not speak to their internet service because we never got that far. After receiving a mailer about fiber optic internet service coming to the neighborhood, we called and spoke to Brenda and scheduled an install. Suffice to say someone did not have their coffee and never actually scheduled the install time despite telling us otherwise. My first clue was when we received robocalls daily asking us to call back to schedule an install appointment. Great. Called back and spoke to another customer service rep and got the install back on the calendar or so I thought. The install time window they give you are in four hour increments. Alas today is install day! We were scheduled Between 1200-1600. When we did not see an installer at our home at 1520 today, I called and spoke to Scott who informed me the appointment had never been scheduled, again. Thanks but I would rather pay double the USI rate to Xfinity rather than deal with these morons. read more

HORRIBLE customer service! No one knows anything. No one does anything. I've been WAITING for EIGHT MONTHS to get final installation of fiber optic. I understand this is a new thing in Mpls. and there are many hurdles. I've been very understanding and patient all this time. But they keep promising we'll be live "next month" ... The latest promise was "as soon as the ground thaws" ... Hey, I understand this is Minnesota and we've had ridiculously rotten weather. The final installation from the street to the house can't be done when the ground is frozen. Well, the ground is thawed now. It has been for a couple weeks. So when I called a few days ago, I was told we would go live "probably by the end of July." WHY?!? Well, "there are probably permits and paperwork with the city ..." umm ... In March, I was told we were good to go. Just waiting for the ground to thaw so the guys could dig. The USI woman had said "any day now." Last fall, every time I called they promised "in a month" or "in a couple weeks" ... The technician who did the initial part of the install knows nothing. So I called Stan Turner, the Operations Manager, and left a message. It's been a few days, and no response. OK, I can live without fiber optic. This is a First World Problem. I'm grateful to have a house to live in. I wish we weren't forking over a big chunk of our hard-earned low wages to the evil Comcast every month, but at least we have internet access. What makes my blood boil is the false promises, cluelessness, and blatant uncaring disrespect. Just another faceless corporation pissing people off. read more

I, like many other USI Wireless customers, am a former disgruntled Comcast subsciber. Sick of their lofty prices, and less than desirable customer service, I decided to take a chance and try out USI, despite hearing of potential outages and spotty internet service. After signing up and having about six months of service under my belt, I would call myself a very satisfied customer. I live in a condo, so the wireless connection was a problem from the outset. The first set up that USI set me up with didn't work: I had spotty, slow internet service. Despite the challenges, USI installed a work around which remedied the problem... I am now getting full bandwidth and am extremely satisfied. I am basically getting a better deal than comcast at a fraction of the price. I was also satisfied with their great customer service from both the service techs and the customer service agents over the phone. On average, they are all very talented and not the usual idiot you get from call centers... they know their stuff. read more

I used to really like USI wireless and I want to like them because I have always been very pleased with their customer service. Basically though, their only response to a long term problem that I have been having with them is that there muse be interference between you and the node because we are not showing any problems with your modem. I literally have one of the strongest connections possible and up to this point, I literally did get 6 mbps service. About two weeks ago, I began to just drop from their node and my speeds were so erratic, I couldn't stream movies (which used to be very easy) or Netflix. So, I called and they originally said it was interference from around me and I explained that nothing had changed. Then they watched it and said there was another possible device that was doing it. My roommate has CenturyLink and so I turned off the wireless portion of his device and it still didn't work. After talking to technical support, which used to be absolutely amazing when I first had their service, I got the feeling that they had no idea what they were doing. They used to allow me access to the router directly and because I am fairly technically savvy, I could often fix it myself. They turned that ability off and now I generally think that they are morons because they don't test any of the things that I would test like changing channels which they told me wasn't possible and I then realized that they had no idea what they were doing because any wireless or radio device has channel options so that when there is a conflict it can move channels. Anyway, I am currently looking for another service, which sadly seems to be very limited but I want to make it clear that up until this moment I loved them but sometimes one truly poor customer experience can ruin it completely. Especially when I said that I don't want to leave, they basically just said the most we can do is a one month credit and good luck to you. For $20/month: Upload 0.44 Mb/s Download 0.20 Mb/s This rates as an F- (4%) nationally and an F (8%) globally on Speedtest's rating system. Not only that - there are times when you can go days with no access at all, and when it is up it often feels like an old 56k modem. I guess the big question is if it's really worth saving a few bucks for this kind of service. I think the answer is no. read more

Copying over my google review. LOVE USINTERNET! I began talking to USInternet Support on May 3rd enquiring about their service. A support person replied to me within the hour and explained the process. There would be an agreement that needed to be signed by my Condo Association, then a field service operator would come out to show them where equipment would go, after that they would schedule a day for cabling the building and a day for drilling a line from the boulevard fiber to our building. I kept in direct contact with this support person the whole time. She replied to emails very quickly and even on weekends(I felt bad I kinda bothered her a lot). I proposed the installation of USInternet FIber to the board on May 4th and they approved it the next week probably the 12th or something . The Field service operator came out on June 1st so they were booked out a few weeks. Everything went well with suggested placement of the NID(Network Interface Device) that is a little 1x1 box that sits outside the building like a gas meter, and a switch box inside the building that spreads ethernet to each unit. The intallers were nice they took about 10 minutes to come drill the hole and install the plate. The next day they tested all the jacks worked to the switch. June 8th and 9th the Building was cabled and the line was connected to the boulevard. The support lady had bumped us up on the list so instead of waiting the expected 2-3 weeks for service we got service the day after installation! I was so amazed!!! I pay $70/month for 1Gbps. I have a TP-Link C7 AC1750 and I am getting consistent 800-900Mbps Download and 600-700Mbps Upload. Now you won't see exact 1Gbps but it's very close. I live alone and only have 4 or 5 devices connected so it's a bit of overkill, but in a house with 3-4 people and 12-20 devices you'll be happy you got the massive bandwidth. I can download a 5.5gb demo on my Sony Playstation 3 in about 10 minutes. A 3gb movie took me about 3 minutes on my desktop and wifi 3gb movies take a little longer maybe 10-15 minutes. Not terrible but you have to remember your source comes into play as well as the route between you and them. Until the entire country is on 1Gbps fiber optic, don't expect insane 5 second 5gb downloads. Overall very happy with the future proofing of my condo. The price and the speed is just incredible. I hope it brings good competition/pressure on the big dogs in Minneapolis Comcast/CenturyLink read more

We're excited one minute to get fiber in our neighborhood, the next, we're pulling our hair out with clumsy installers. And they'll give you timeframes to complete installation you should not believe. One to two weeks turns into four without any communication of a delay. I'll be sad to leave CenturyLink - which is ironic to admit. But if their service comes down to USI's orbit, I'll switch back in a heartbeat. I have had their service for 8 years and it has been ok, I switched to the fiber and that has been better. My most recent experience with this is that they shut me down when they tried to run my card, I am set up on auto pay, and it had expired. Not one phone call or email, just bam..off. I spend an hour on the phone trying to get through to be treated like crap. I left a message for Sam, some sort of manager but has not returned my message. I would think that 8 years of auto pay would constitute a call when the card expires, not just shut down. Bad bad move folks. read more

The worst customer service I have ever had. Refused to listen to my problem, was very rude, actually had the nerve to tell me he was a supervisor and if I called back he wouldn't talk to me. I cancelled my service, I am paying more for my new service, but to never have to deal with these rude pompous tech people is worth the extra money. By the way, it took them 7 week from start to finish to actually get my connection up and running, and I then cancelled within a week because they wouldn't help me connect my Roku box, which is the only reason I got them in the first place. I am writing this from my phone data plan, as USI wireless has been down since the day before yesterday. This is the second outage this week (granted the first was a not 2 days long). Service goes out during most storms - rain and snow and at random times in between but generally for only a few hours at most. Customer service is friendly but is limited to telling me they "will let me know when it is restored" hold times are very long, but email is answered. Fiber is not available on the east half of Minneapolis. Check the availability of nodes from your location before signing on or you may buy a lot of service disruptions (I have only one node in range). On a positive note, it does work well when it is functional (upgrade bandwidth, the basic plan is slow), and your experience will likely be better than mine because I am on the edge of USI's area. read more

Wow somehow my first review disappeared. Their wifi was a horrible experience. They botched the setup which costs $150, our modem was aimed into the next-door apartment instead of at the node. We called often because it was slow. Sometimes they could help, sometimes they said they couldn't do anything about it. We stuck with it because we thought it was the cheapest option. Months later, we had a tech come out to check it. He was baffled that the modem was where it was, not facing the node. He moved it to the back porch where the speed improved slightly, but still had slowness when people came home from work, weekends, etc. We had someone come out later to test it for speed. We were paying for their 6 mbps service, but with the setup could only get 2.2 mbps maximum. I called and asked for a refund, because they had botched the setup (where we were probably getting 1 of 6 mbps we were paying for). They offered about $30 which was ridiculous, after spending hundreds with them. It escalated to the manager who offered to refund $6/mo difference between the 3 and 6 meg service. He basically said it was my fault that I had been paying for their service when I could've stopped, but they weren't giving me the service I was paying for. Finally I accepted the refund he offered because I didn't think I could get more compensation. They refunded about $40, and I had to follow up for several weeks to get a check for the remaining $80. Stay away from their wifi service. The techs are nice people, but they will admit that the wifi service is terrible. It goes down from time to time, and you have to wait sometimes hours, sometimes days for the service to come back up. Good customer service, bad wifi service. read more

Let me say that their customer service is top notch and they really do want you to be a happy customer. The problem is that their network of WIFI towers in Minneapolis sucks. There is an outage almost every other night in our area. They have sent 4 service guys to our house for free to fix the problem and even upgraded our modem. I really wish that their network was better, but i need to cancel our account with them. Maybe one day their network will be better! We can all hope, because i don't like comcast or qwest! read more

Great customer service. When I have had connectivity issues they are always helpful and will either schedule a visit or fix it over the phone. I have had a few times when internet connection wasn't great, but for the price I love it. I'd hate to pay those other companies so much money for something I can get 98% of the time from usi. Worst most unreliable service for the cheapest rate! If you like battling your neighbors for bandwidth. Watching your streaming movies or Internet tv 15 seconds at a time and waiting while it buffers for 3 minutes in between... Oh and if you enjoy resetting your router constantly! I really want the Minneapolis wifi to work; I want the internet to be a public good, a utility that is part of the basics that is built as a commonality. Sadly what we have is not a great system. I was a customer for more than 3 years. In summary, my home location in NE was too far from the node signal with too many competing other signals. I kept hoping they could resolve something for me but after multiple very friendly tech visits I gave up. I doubt we will ever see fiber in nordeast, that seems to be destined for the money bags by the lakes in South Minneapolis. And N Minneapolis will be last to fiber without a doubt. i jumped over to dsl and Century link. In 9 months I have reset the modem one time. It just works. But i know the price promotion is ending and the price will double. CL know I will probably pay up. read more

Basically if you live downtown or anywhere near another building you're out of luck. I've had USI for a couple years now. I had it professionally installed so everything was correct. After a few months of it working well it just nose-dived. They kept telling my that my area couldn't support the speed I was paying for (7mb) and I should downgrade. So I did and they told me the 3mb speed would work fine, and it did for a few months and then once again nose-dived. The excuse I keep getting is that there is a building in the way even though the node is very close to me. Recently a technician told me that my area is too crowded and that I'd be lucky to get 1mb speed. I find it funny that a company the prides itself on bringing cheap WI-fi to downtown Minneapolis doesn't have WI-fi that works downtown. If you live in an empty field with no buildings anywhere near you then by all means use USI but if you live near other buildings than pay the extra for Century Link or Comcast and save yourself the headache. I'm tired of dealing with USI and their shoddy excuses as to why their internet won't work. read more
