I have been a regular customer of this hospital due to multiple issues over the years. I liked to use the same hospital because they have my medical records. On my last visit, I dealt with a cold, awkward ER physician who leaned on the wall cornered with the door while I lay in bed facing the opposite direction of the room, I twisted my neck to talk to him, no, I don't have a very contagious disease. I was told to visit other hospital as I couldn't get any care on this one. I had excruciating pain in my mouth due to a cracked tooth. I was left there for an hour without care. I asked the nurse what was happening next and was told to go back in the room because they were busy. It did not appear busy with a lot of activity when I arrived, so I decided to leave to find ice at 7-11 to apply to my face. They attempted to charge me, my private insurance and the VA for "staying in the room". I will not continue to visit this hospital in the future, I don't recommend anyone to do so. Avoid an awful experience when dealing with an emergency, no need to be dismissed and mistreated; they totally lack empathy. It wouldn't surprise me they roll their eyes up when a patient arrived. I spoke to a representative to express my dissatisfaction, but I am yet to receive an apology for the way I was not treated. read more

The staff was amazing from the time I walked in to the ER. I was suffering from Rhabdomyalasis, acute kidney failure. They weee very thorough and made sure I was educated every step of the way. Not the typical hospital that makes you wait forever. The staff kept me comfortable and was aware of time to let me try to get rest as best I could. I want to be treated here from now on. read more

My husband, Jeff had surgery yesterday with Dr. MacKay. The surgery went very well according to the doctor and my husband said he feels the surgeon did a great job. The reason I give USMD Hospital only 1 stars is to give Dr. MacKay and his first RN Manni who took care of him in his room. NOW! I am going to tell you all what Jeff told the night nurse last night. "He will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN! He suffered ALOT after the surgery. He had 5 incisions from the surgery. They would not give him anything for pain in recovery and he was hurting very bad. He does have a low resting heart rate and always has. Next, Dr. comes out and tells me the surgery is successful and I can go back and see him in about an hour. I wait 2 hours and still sitting. The lady at the front desk comes and tells me to go get my stuff out of the the car and go up to room 509. I did that and they said I had to wait until my patient gets there. When they brought him up they did some things to him but did not give him any pain meds. They called me to come back and he looked at me almost teary eyed and said "I hurt so bad but they won't give me anything" So he has been suffering at this point for about 2 1/2 hours. When his nurse Manni comes in he begged her for pain medicine and she said they are trying to get it from the pharmacy. She did finally get it and was very kind. She kept checking on him every two hours to see what his level was and seeing how he felt. THEN, new shift, new RN, Mary. Manni was already in the process of getting his morphine and the new nurse said he did not need that because it does not last long. First of all, the doctor had morphine approve for relief of pain. Second, I do not think she needed to keep trying to tell my husband basically she was not giving him that but a milder medication called Toradol and Tramadol. His list of approved meds included morphine. Manni had gone get the morphine but the system it was in had a problem and they could not get it so had to get the pharmacist to come up and get it open. At this point Mary keeps giving him Toradol every 2 hours, she kept checking on him but refused his medication. He told her he needed to sleep and if he does have his strong medication he won't. At 12:30 am with my husband still in pain does at least go to sleep. She came in 15 minutes later and told me she had to go to the second floor and there is another RN that will be taking over her shift. At 4:20 the came in (I know his name started with a V, something like Victor maybe) my husband asked him for his medication. He said ok, left and never came back. We then clicked the button at around 5 and told them he has not received the pain meds he asked for at 6:20, they said they would let the nurse know...no response! At 7:10 after my husband has been suffering all this time a new nurse, Valencia Taylor comes in and he tells her that he is going to report them holding back his medication. She states to him, well you have to call us if you need your medication. He and I both said, he did 3 times during the night with no response. She said she had the list of RN's that worked with him and she was going to have a talk with them. BIG DEAL! This is not patient care at all! This is the worse I have ever seen and I have worked in the hospitals with patients and clinics. It was not Mary's place to decided which meds he needed. Doctor had them write clearly on the board which he could have. Toradol, Tramadol or morphine. He told Valencia Taylor, the Charge Nurse, that he was reporting this situation to the doctor at his follow up appt on Monday. We do not want another patient go through this type of treatment. The Emergency Room experience was extremely disappointing. My mother was admitted after experiencing severe pain in both legs, to the point where she was unable to walk or stand. She was discharged without a definitive diagnosis, and the doctor prescribed Tylenol with codeine and steroids. My father took the prescription to CVS, only to be informed that due to regulations regarding controlled substances, the prescription needed to be electronically filed. I contacted the ER to request verification over the phone, and the nurse I spoke with mentioned that they could call to verify the prescription. When I asked if they could do so, she responded that she was unable to because she was busy. I found this response unprofessional and disappointing. Based on this experience, I am highly dissatisfied and will not be returning to this hospital in the future. In hindsight, I wish I had reviewed patient feedback prior to bringing my mother here. read more

Great start from the "front door folks", Lea Ann, Yevonne, Fernando, thru Adoniya & her crew (great to see younger staff getting mentored) getting me prepped, Dr Asopa & his helper carefully setting the pre-op stage. Devon did a marvelous job as "wrap up" answered our multiple questions very competently and clearly and ushered us on our way with all the extra stuff we needed at home. Dr Thurman seems to have enjoyed his robotics work and gave his clear post-op report. Everything and all these kind professionals worked together seamlessly - it's a good indicator of a well-run organization. read more

ER wasn't the greatest experience. My 65yo mother was brought there via car on 2/15 around 8pm with severe abdominal pain, N/V, cold sweats, weakness. I understand the check in process but she was in apparent distress and I feel there was no "emergent" assessment to rule out CVA, aneurysm, etc (waiting room was pretty clear). Upon being taken back to the intake, the tall male nurse with the toupee seemed to have an agenda as he instinctively lacked patience and compassion. As if my mother was not obviously overcome with pain, breaking in cold sweats and nausea, he seemed even more displeased by my stepping up as her historian (I'm in healthcare so I had it summarized as smoothly as I could while also trying to care for her). He even had the nerve to later ask the nursing staff "What's up with the lady in 6?" and proceeded to harshly question why she was being discharged while wearing the ER gown (her shirt was still drenched by the sweats and it was cold when leaving). Would I want him fired? Eh, my intent is not harm. Does he need to be retrained in direct patient interaction? 100%, perhaps he needs to also experience what she did for a taste of empathy but that'll be up to God's doing. I could have given him all types of rebuttal but my mother's condition was my primary concern and not his lack of decorum. The 2nd ER nurse we encountered, Dajara, was compassionate and insightful. She followed protocol with Tylenol IV drip. IV Haldol was given about an hour later because it did not alleviate the pain and that worked tremendously to where my mother was no longer in agony. Dajara was gentle with my mother, which I could say was not the case with Mr. Toupee. With her recent return from her maternity leave, I am grateful that she not only understood my need to advocate on my mother's behalf but also took my medical background input with respect. The 3rd ER nurse, a charismatic, decadent smelling (Coach), gentleman. Not much interaction with him but he made sure my mother was hooked back up to the monitors/etc, checked in with her and even made her laugh as he asked if she was feeling better since she was talking, not groaning. The ER doc was considerate, she listened to me as I to her, and there was a mutual respect as my mother is a former nurse and myself being currently in the field. My overall rapport with USMD Arlington is about 70%, however Mr Toupee, may God bless your heart, Doc, thank you for being thorough and partnering with us for her healthcare, Mrs. Daraja and Mr. Coach, may God bless you both abundantly. read more

I have had three procedures done at USMD this year. From the front desk greeting and registration to the all the nurses, doctors and anesthesia personnel have all been top notch. I strongly believe that there is something wrong at USMD . All my 3 good doctors have left USMD to practice somewhere else. These doctors all show excellent caring and medical professionalism when providing care to patients . Why they had left USMD, it is my question that I am clueless?? We live in far north Ft Worth so call from USMD that had to be there 5:15 AM = overnight stay at nearby motel that offered special rate. Received letter Sept 29th from surgery scheduler that was very detailed about Nov 21 procedure requirements. Day of procedure - checked in easily & then up to waiting area & soon to a room to meet PCT Kyla & then other nurses before OR nurse, doctor, anesthesia personnel arrived. Everyone very concerned about comfort level of patient ! Took husband to surgery & me (his wife went out to waiting area. VERY GLAD to see the doctors come out to talk to family/friends in waiting area as patient in recovery (I assume) since it was much later before I was taken back to his room to see him....being well taken care of once again. Mary Beth (nurse) very helpful taking him by wheelchair to our SUV and getting him into the front seat - he had total hip replacement last year so still a challenge to get up into the vehicle's seat. Cafeteria (Grille) was VERY NICE ! Only issue I had was sitting in not-so-comfy chairs for almost 7 hours with my short legs - had to get up and walk quite often but receptionist took note of where I was - she was very busy ! Someone called day after to see how patient was doing & if needed anything to call. Then, the long drive back to our home - for 2 old folks ! read more

Everyone was friendly and kind. Starting with the security guard at the door when I arrived with a friendly smile and information about the check-in procedure. The staff doing the admission were very competent and efficient. The nurse who started my IV was great I didn't even feel the stick. Everyone was caring and I would recommend this facility for anyone having a procedure. read more

We live an hour and 1/12 away and we decided to go a couple of days early to fine were we had to be on 9-11. We decided to stay the night at the motel next door because of my husband's early appointment. We walked in to the hospital and was greeted with a warm welcoming smile from Ms. Teresa at the front desk. She was so helpfull gave us paper work to fill out and bring back on 9-11 the day of his procedure. And then Ms. Heather called and gave us all the do's and don'ts before the procedure she was so kind. And when I called back acouple of days later she was more than helpful. On 9-11 the day of my husband's procedure. We were met with that smile once again by Ms. Teresa and she remember us from days before. We sat with Ms. Simona in Registration she was wonderful even when she had to change paperwork, because we were going to pay more on our payment than what we discussed on the phone. As she put his ID bracelet on him she said I have one for you to. I looked at my hubby and said look it says I'm with stupid. She said no you didn't and we all had a good laugh. She guided us upstairs to the 2nd floor and once again we were met with a helping smile by Ms.Yasmin. thank you to the anesthesiologist and the doctor Thomas, who come in to talk to us and helped calm nerves. But a big special thanks. Goes out to Ms. Mary, Beth. The nurse that was with him before the procedure, and then in his room. She made us both comfortable. And helped get him ready to go home. My apologies for not remembering the name of the sweet lady that called us the next day to see how he was doing. Your kind voice and most of all not rushing to get off the phone. I drove my adult daughter around 2pm with high heart rate and blood pressure vomiting and the receptionist there just made us wait there in the lobby without help or checking her vitals as if her life had no value. I took my daughter out of there and took her to JPS instead and they immediately took her in and kept her safe. Don't go to this hospital if u want to stay alive. read more

I had the worst experience coming here to the ER with what turned out to be pancreatitis. The trouble began when I checked in and they listed my current medications that included pain meds from when I had a neck fusion there 5 years ago. It included hydrocodone 10, which they somehow decided I've been taking daily for the last 5 years. I tried to explain that I do not have that prescription and noted the age of it and that they could check my pharmacy records, and I was assured it would be corrected later. It was not, even after mentioning it to multiple nurses and the doc. Pancreatitis is an extremely painful condition and as the night went on, I realized pain medication was being withheld and minimized. When I asked the nurse about it, she said, and I quote "Just because you can't feel it in your face doesn't mean it's not working". I realized they were treating me as a drug seeker even though their own lab results showed pancreatitis. My wife and I called her out on it and she acted like we misunderstood, which was definitely not the case. During my stay I could not find anyone to validate the mistake and correct it and was sent home with no medication whatsoever to manage it myself. I had to go to my primary doctor for help, and he was also confused as my pharmacy records show it's been years since I had a pain prescription. One of the prescriptions I do take regularly is Adderall for adhd, which I listed as current medication I'm taking at check-in. Later after recovery I requested my medical records from the hospital and was not surprised to see that blood test results were positive for meth. Not Adderall but methamphetamine which I have never taken, with nothing in the record mentioning my prescribed medication. This was the most unprofessional experience I have ever endured that was carried all the way through my stay from check-in to dismissal with not one person listening to what I said trying to point out the mistake. read more

This is not a post about the quality of medical staff at the hospital. But - a post about very poor cleaning standards I encountered in the men's public restrooms on the cancer wing on 12/18/20 at about 920am. In the middle of COVID-19, there is no way anyone had paid attention to this part of the facility from a health standpoint. No paper towels, discarded PPE, overflowing trash can. See pictures. After she was done filing and typing 15 min later she's ready as I was already walking out the door to another hospitable hospital who truly cares about patience. Great Doctor and awesome staff, a place you can trust

The doctors at this facility are skilled, the rest of the staff tends to shoot them in the foot with apathy. Unfortunate that the patients have to pay for the mismanagement and outsourcing and that the doctors who oversee the staff don't care enough to address these problems. Apparently they are willing to allow it to degrade their facility and practices. I've been seeing a PCP here for several years and really liked my physician. He decided to leave USMD (no surprise after all the issues) and zero notification was sent out in a timely manner to allow me to talk with him or to get any recommendations from him about potential PCP's in the area. I even called for an appointment and he's no longer taking appointments. Each time I've called USMD the staff is incapable of helping me. They always require me to contact someone else or they don't have any access to the information requested. When I inquired about getting my records since my doctor is leaving, I was told it had to be done on the portal which won't allow me access. They claimed I got email to download my records. Never happened...... Asked if they could send it again, not able to do so. Apparently their business model is set up to use the portal as a way to keep the patients at an arms length and avoid actual patient contact. The portal is not well managed, is outsourced and access is sketchy at best. If you can find any other facility in Arlington I would recommend you do so. I can assure you you will be demeaned as a person, frustrated as a patient and only perceived important when it comes to payments. read more

I came to this hospital actually to go to the gynecologist. One side of this place is a regular hospital and the other side is a bunch of doctors offices. The hospital was nice and clean and looked very new. There was ample parking all around. When I went inside they took my temp at the door as a safety precaution which I thought was very smart of them with this whole covid-19 going on. At the door the woman told me just where I had to go and everyone was super friendly and courteous. I would definitely come back if i had to get something done here. read more

Had to take my husband to the ER. We've lived in this area a while and have been to several different hospitals over the years, and this was by far the absolute best. Quick triage. Saw a doctor promptly. She was very knowledgeable as was her nurse. Everyone was incredibly friendly and took their time with us and made sure our questions were answered. We felt confident in their diagnosis and method of treatment. Won't go to another hospital but this one. read more

Staff lacks empathy, consideration and are rude and curt. Upon entering the building it was unclear where the emergency room was or if it was an appointment waiting room situation. My friend had trouble breathing and she was made to answer billing questions PRIOR to being seen about her restricted airway. First staff told her to hold on because she was leaving for the day, second staff was incredibly slow and did not have any discretion to have the patient seen for the EMERGENCY airway restriction. I would give this place a 0 if I could. My mom just left this hospital tonight about 8:15 pm. She had surgery on her neck about 4 months ago (not at this hospital) and she is in a lot of pain right now. She can't breathe that well and she hasn't been eating due to pain. She was seen by Dr. Kyle Thibodeau who told her that her visit wasn't an Er visit, she shouldn't have come there and did nothing for her. Now she is at home in the same pain as before not being able to breathe. We will never visit this hospital again and will not see any doctors affiliated with it! I do not recommend anyone to go here especially if they were having a stroke because I bet no doctor would do anything to help. read more

Read my Google review and others online. Their website filters in only the 4 and 5 star reviews. Other online feedback isn't as flattering. It was unclear if or where these ppl would transfer my dad since this place was 2 disorganized and inept 2 care 4 him despite being empty! He can hardly operate his phone. No 1 called 2 let me know the transfer took place. I'm thankful he was able 2 answer his phone. The blk male RN charge nurse is rude. He is dismissive 2 any1 that's not the patient until he decides he wants 2 interact with u. Other than that, he ignores u and your input. The patient is often not able 2 respond. I think he said his name is Vince. The staff's tags had no names on them. They r small, inept, disorganized and rude. Believe the negative reviews. Don't entrust these ppl with your care. read more

Got a tiny cut over my eye, girlfriend took me here. I have no insurance, so I refused all medical care, signed nothing. I got gauze, ointment, and a prescription, left there as soon as I could. I was the only person there at 4pm. I got a $650 bill from the hospital, looked like a total bill, a month later I get a doctors bill for $2300, that's right nearly $3000 for refusing all care because of high costs. Meanwhile in every other modern industrialized on the planet... I pay into 2 healthcare systems and get no coverage, only in America read more

My surgery itself went smoothly, but this place is very breastfeeding hostile. First of all, I held off on pain medication for as long as I could so I could continue to breastfeed my 3 month old. When the CT woman came, she said I couldn't breastfeed for 24 hours if I got contrast. So I rejected the contrast. Then she comes back and says that it's actually fine, head of radiology says so. Then why did she tell me it wasn't? Then I get over to my room for the night. The nurse kept trying to get me to stop breastfeeding every opportunity she got. Even though the DOCTOR said it was safe to breastfeed on the antibiotic I was given, she tried to tell me that antibiotic was harmful to the baby. Not true. Then she said that I shouldn't breastfeed when I'm sick because I'll get the baby sick. Anybody who breastfeeds knows this isn't true- you've already exposed the baby and the baby needs your antibodies. Later on, the same nurse told me she didn't understand why I wouldn't just take the morphine if I need surgery in the morning anyways-what's the point? I was very offended. The point is that breastmilk is the best thing I can give my baby and I want him to have it as long as possible. I do not need to justify my choices to my nurse but she needs to RESPECT them. Eventually, I accepted the morphine when my pain got to be too much. So the time it actually takes for a drug to leave the body is very easily determined by science. I know because I used to work in a lab in the pharmaceutical industry. I asked my nurse how long until I can breastfeed after taking morphine. She said 3.5 hours. Another nurse said 24 hours. Due to the confusion, I called the pharmacist to my room. Two pharmacists showed up. One said to NEVER breastfeed again. I told her she is ridiculous- never breastfeed again until the day I die? The other pharmacist said 8 hours and produced an article that showed the half life of morphine is 4 hours. Then the anesthesiologist came to my room. I asked him how long I need to wait after surgery to breastfeed again. He said one hour. However, my discharge paperwork said 24 hours. The point is- nobody knows what they're talking about but they act like they do. I was repeatedly given false information in an attempt to discontinue breastfeeding even though I let my medical team know it was extremely important to me. I felt like I was constantly on the defensive and having to justify my choices to the staff. I would rather them say they don't know and then find the correct answer for me instead of giving me false information. I'm glad my surgery went well and without complication, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

There are some great nurses there but a lot of them are heartless. I was admitted for the 2nd time for and abdominal infection or should I say colitis and received horrible care from the day shift nurse Karen that works on the Med-Surge floor! She was another that you would hate to ask for pain medication, due to the fact she came off with an attitude. Honestly I feel as though she was taken some of the prescribed medications that was ordered for myself because I had no relief of pain. The receptionist was rude as hell hung up in my face when I asked about a tray I hadn't received yet and it was after 8p.m. I was tole the kitchen was closed, which I didn't understand because I received 2 trays earlier. Again Karen and Hope be aware of when it's time for pain management because you may receive a placebo. Dr. awesome and seems as though they really care and love what they do but NURSING there is very poor!!!!!! It's amazing once people know what you do for a living is when their attitude changes not knowing that I was in the healthcare field some nurses were past cruel and unethical. Then they are over staffed and call lights will beep for minutes at a time ridiculous!!! read more

Had an online telemed appointment scheduled for 3:45pm. It is now 4:30 and Dr. Chudhri has yet to log on and join. I called the number to see what the issue was and was put on hold for 10 minutes, then told I needed to reschedule. I get doctors are busy but so are your clients, I'm juggling other doc appts alongside class and don't have the availability to take an hour of my day to wait and stare at a black video screen. I also had some blood work that I needed to have rescheduled and the office was supposed to give me a call, but a week went by without me hearing a word from them. Not impressed. read more

We've used this facility many times and always had a good experience where conditions allowed and the staff always caring and helpful. On recent visit however found the support staff less than caring to indifferent. The visit took much longer than necessary considering the observed traffic. Not giving up here, but there are plenty of facilities offering excellent care with engaged professionals. read more
