I mailed something Priority Mail through the Merrillville Post Office on Tuesday. It was supposed to arrive by Friday, which is why I paid for Priority Mail. According to the tracking, it didn't leave the Merrillville Post Office until Wednesday night. It is Sunday and the package is still moving through the system--very late. I have had multiple packages shipped thru them and each time they never knock on the door or leave the package. They always claim there was nowhere to put it. One time it said they tried to redeliver it at 3:44AM. OF COURSE NOBODY IS UP AT 3:44AM. Whoever the driver is obviously doesn't like to drop of packages. 0/10 would not recommend. Then they're supposed to give you a ticket to go to the actual usps location to pick up the package and they did not! Now I'm fighting to receive two packages!! read more

This location is the worst USPS location ever. It's not the fault of the staff in my opinion. Rather, the location is understaffed; there are frequently NO priority mail boxes in the stands; what boxes and items they sell are over-priced (perhaps not unique to this location); the pens are gone or never work; and the self-service machine is nearly always broken for one reason or another, which when coupled with understaffing means this place is slow and basically terrible. I was running a business when I first arrived here and with this post office and package unreliability I decided I just could not do that small business anymore with the time I had dedicated to it because the package and mailing failure rate was HUGE. read more

It's hard to be the worst post office in Lake County but the Merrillvile branch goes above and beyond to hit Rick Bottom and start digging to bedrock! They will let you make an on line appointment for a service but then when you arrive for that appointment (and stand in line 20 minutes ) they will say "oh we don't do that here" and (as a normal thinking person would say) why would you take an on line appointment for a service you don't offer? The response? "We don't even look at the on line appointments." All the while signs are posted in the lobby saying they offer the services! So I call to talk to someone (presumably in charge) and ask "Why don't you take the signs down? Why don't you change the webpage?" Answer: They won't let us. (Shrug) So they know it's wrong, and don't care. Do you know why they don't care? Because they don't have to care. Avoid this branch! read more

You shouldn't develop a complex going to the Post Office as you would visiting, lets say the dentist. But, this post office is unique.....they are awfully unorganized and supremely understaffed. Reasons One May Develop a Complex: 1. You've stood for 2 hours in a line for something that will only take you 43.4 seconds. 2. The service person behind the desk has a horrible attitude and/or abrasive demeanor. 3. They stop periodically to chat with each other, change shifts, or take a break in an already understaffed situation. 4. The person behind you starts muttering about the length of the line, the service, blah..blah in hopes that you will engage in the conversation too. 5. By the time that you leave this post office, you look at your watch and realize that those two completely wasted and obliterated hours of your life will NEVER EVER be returned to you again. Perhaps the only good thing about this post office is the fact that we still have snail mail in this highly saturated digital age. read more

A package of mine that I purchased, arrived at this post office on June 1. Here it is June 7th and the package is still there. I just found out yesterday (the 6th) that the package needs to be inspected. I asked why and was not given a reason nor would they tell me who was going to inspect it. The manager at the Merrillville office tells me I would be contacted by this inspector and I'm still waiting. Right now, it's almost a month since I purchased this order, an order I should have gotten no later than 10 days ago. This Merrillville office has not been forthcoming with me and I am most outraged about having my personal mail opened without my consent. So much for trust and professionalism because both are entirely missing at the Merrillville Post Office. Let's see where this gets me.................probably no where, that's where. read more

So he goes in the back for another 20 minutes and comes out with one package and another notice in his hands saying we can't find the other package lol I said who ate it or where did it disappear too u guys left a notice to pick it up at the office and now it mysteriously disappeared ‍ I was very angry they said I can fill out a report lol a report for fucking what? Y'all lost the damn package give me my fucking package or give me my money back and they have done neither 300 dollars pissed away from these fucks but I'll be suing them for a lot more!! This place should be shut down immediately and all employees at this location should be fired,they have no accountability and give no fucks about ur mail or packages or what u say for that matter!! This place has the WORST service. Be prepared to wait in line for at least 15-20 minutes before being helped. The staff is slower than a slug, they lose/misplace mail and packages quite frequently, and are very unprofessional all around. The office and the people that work within the building are nice and I would have given them 5 stars if not for the lazy carrier at my area. I was expecting a priority mail that needed signature confirmation and 8:00 in the morning of the expected delivery day it said "Out for delivery" on their tracking system. And so I got all excited about receiving my package and ended up staying at the house all day to wait for it. Mail truck came around 10:45am, dropped regular mails into our mailbox and moved on to the next house. No package. Fast forward... about 7pm, I finally decided to call the office to check on my stuff. I was asked for the tracking number and my last name.. The lady (who was nice btw) on the phone checked it and there was a note that the carrier left a note on the mailbox. Ok ok, hold on for a second. I understand that if there's a note involved, it means that the carrier attempted to deliver the package but nobody was around. My sister in law was in the living room and I was also home (no music or anything like that in the house so one of us could hear a knock or a door bell) and the carrier did not even get his/her fat ass off the mail truck and walk to our door. It's not like we have a mile-long driveway, it's probably 10 or so steps. I was like WTF! A note for what? I note for saying you're MF lazy?! I didn't even see that note. There was not GD note! It's nice to see our tax money at work. These lazy butts actually makes good money. I'm so disappointed. And maybe if these people actually move around and walk a few steps here and there, most of them wouldn't be as fat as they are now. G D I! read more
