A very good experience today and very quick service too! They have boxes for shipping and ask about labels if they're out. Really good social distancing and a reminder that the post office is open everyday-except Sunday. Not sure what brings people here except watch out for folks with lots of items, this will slow the line down. Still very pleasant female employees and pretty sure they're smiling under their masks. I know it's random to write a review about the post office but I felt compelled to share my experience. Doreen was the one that helped us the other day regarding our passport applications. I have to say she was BEYOND helpful and was super patient with us. I have been to other post offices in the city and had terrible experiences because a lot of the employees are impatient and rude and so the fact that Doreen treated us with respect and professionalism was great. Not only was she patient with my questions and applications but she also waited for us to submit a documentation that I had not brought. They are a pretty busy location and I really appreciated her help and sweet personality. I really hope she gets the recognition she deserves because she's a rare find!! I'm Very grateful. read more

Worst post office I ever experienced. No one there is willing to help. They talk to you like your a child . I frequently don't receive mail til 7PM if at all. Apparently where I live there is not a regular carrier so when other carriers finish their route they will deliver mail on my street if at all . Recently I was expecting an important package when I received a tracking alert that my package was delivered. I happened to on my porch with groceries not a mail carrier in sight . This happens a lot . Almost every Friday all most 20 years at my home this happens all the time .when I complain things will get better for a a few weeks then back to the same crap. This is probably the best USPS store I have been to in Chicago. The staff is always very nice and friendly. It's not as busy as other locations either. Some staff have worked here for years and seemed really enjoyed it. I have come during the week and weekend hours. They process delivery and mails promptly as well. This is "my" post office, which compared to some is pretty good. Big & clean with a decent size parking lot. Things can get slow here so its best to come early on the weekends or, better yet, use the Automated Postal Center just ahead of you at the front door. I do have an issue with one of the employees though. He is very nice, but I hate getting him when in line to take my packages and mail. I do a fair amount of Ebaying so I am in there relatively often. But whenever I get this guy he looks at the return address, says my last name and then says "Oh, you're French!" Me: "No, I'm not. That's an Italian last name." Him: "Oh, but it means 'powerful royalty' in French." Me: "I don't know about that, but trust me, I am not French." Him: "It sure sounds French." Him: "(rolls my name around in his mouth while looking off in a reflective manner) - oh yeah, definitely French." Him: "I have a sister who married a French guy." Him: "That French last name of yours is a popular term in France you know." Him: "I think the French language is a very fascinating one, don't you?" I truly feel for the men and women of our post office, out in the extreme cold and working during storms... But, while I empathize (because I've done utility work, outside for years as well), I am extremely unhappy with the all the mistakes. We constantly get the neighbors mail, okay not everyday but at least 2x a week (for years, just seems to be getting even worse), sometimes it isn't even the correct street. For years we've had to knock on one or another neighbor's door and give them their mail... Well no more, every time the post office delivers the wrong mail I'm driving back to them (i.e., the post office) and let them deal with it. Although, most of the employees behind the counter don't seem to care and apparently don't see the big picture problem here of the sensitive information they deliver. I hope more people will start reporting these mistakes to them because I can't imagine I'm just an exception to the rule and they are not making frequent mistakes with other neighbors' mail too! Mailman is literally throwing mail from the street to near front door, depending how good his basketball skills are that day, sometimes mail lands by the bushes and I have to look for it. Mail is delivered late, sometimes after 7pm. Mailman doesn't care if the mail is marked fragile or handle with care, he throws it anyway. Terrible read more

Worst customer service ever. Zero urgency from the clerk to ask someone else in the back for help and was completely dismissive when I informed them the self service machine wasn't working. So...I didn't receive mail on Monday or Tuesday. I had a package due to be delivered Tuesday but it wasn't due to "no access to delivery location." Odd, since I have a house and a driveway. Tracking said delivery would be attempted the next business day, but when it didn't show up on Wednesday or Thursday, I called Friday to follow up. Jeff Kuffell answered the phone, and I mentioned my missing package. He asked for my address, and before I could finish he interrupted me saying he delivered my mail, and that it was there (total lie - we know our main guy, and his name is not Jeff - don't impersonate others when you're hiding behind a phone). I said my package wasn't there, and was asked what I expected when they didn't have enough people to deliver the mail. Uh, what? So first you said you personally delivered my mail, only to admit that you've been skipping days? Listen, I'm cool and get missing days due to coronavirus issues, I just wanted to rescue my package from the USPS black hole. When I asked him to stop being rude for a second and to let me get a word in, I got a lecture on being stupid and not knowing what rude was. Yes, Mr. Kuffell, lying, talking over people, and insulting them is rude. I reiterated that I didn't care about missing days of mail delivery, but mentioned them and the "no access to delivery location" because it was now three days later and no package, so I wanted to get ahead of it if it was lost. Now all of a sudden Jeff claims he doesn't deliver packages. I was stupid to not know that "no access to delivery location" is their internal code for not even attempting deliveries. Also, I was stupid to not know they were only delivering packages for the week on Friday (shocker - it didn't show up Friday, either). When I said that info was helpful and that maybe he should've started with that, I got interrupted again and lectured for being stupid. I asked to speak to a manager, and he refused. Other online reviews show that rudeness is Jeff's MO, so be prepared. Unsurprisingly, in response to my emailed complaint, USPS gave me a detailed list of steps on how to get my package and avoid Mr. Kuffell. Bottom line: It says a lot when your own employer has a procedure in place and is giving me tips on how to avoid you. read more

I'm a resident of this zip code and have been for fifteen years. While I have a great deal of respect and empathy for mail carriers, this location and its services are terrible. There have been numerous occasions when we have not received our mail, mostly on Saturday or bad weather days, only to have our box stuffed the next delivery day. The post office itself is often dirty and disheveled. Last holiday season the drive-through mail boxes were overloaded with cards and letters...during operating hours and a hour past the scheduled pickup time. There have been many instances when the post office was packed with people, but only one window was open. We now travel an extra 15 minutes each way to go to the Busse Hwy location in Park Ridge. read more

This location destroyed some of my wedding invitations to the point that... 1.) some of my guest had no idea who the envelope was from 2.) there was no invitation on the inside (blank envelope). 8/21/2018 This review is for the postal carrier I have on the Northwest Highway where I live near Oketo Avenue. He is the best carrier we have had for many years now. Even when we had a steady carrier my mail was usually delivered late sometimes after 5 or 6 in the evening. This route has really suffered. I know it is not the easiest route, but I fail to see why the service should have been so bad for years. It is about time we have someone so good as the gentleman that finally took over this route by my house. We have had so many subs or assistants coming and going because no one I understand wanted this route. Well I hope he will stay now that he is a full-time carrier. Stopped in on a super busy Friday during the Christmas rush season. There was only one woman waiting on the crowd at that time but she was the sweetest lady. Anyone else would have been frazzled! If I could give this location a zero or negative like -10 that would describe my experience dropping off a package here. There were two people behind the counter. When I walked up with my package the man sitting down said my item would not fit in the envelope they provide. I explained to him that this is how I received it from someone else via the post office and I showed him the envelope. He just shook his head? The lady taking care of taking the package from me said I needed a TO and FROM label for my package and I showed her the ones I had filled out from home and when I went to give her the package for the second time she said I needed different labels that she said she gave me which was totally --wrong since I brought my own. She started arguing with me about the labels she did NOT GIVE to me so, I told her not to be rude and that she needs to respect people. I said, never mind I'm NOT doing business here since you are rude and I told her she needed to respect people so, I asked her her name and the managers too. I took my package to the Harwood Heights location. It was not that far away so, when I got there they it was empty so, I got right up to the counter. I simply asked is it OK to ship my item in your envelope I had already prepared and the worker replied, " NO PROBLEM" whatever works for you!!! Wow. What a difference from the rudeness at the other location. I am placing calls not only to customer service but the people in charge overall. NOT her supervisor I'm going above and beyond because this just clearly should not be how our postal workers should be treating customers period. Parking is ok, and it's a very modern, up-to-date facility. The service, however, is sooooo sloooooow. Whenever I've been there, the problem hasn't been rudeness or incompetence. The problem is that the workers there have absolutely no sense of timing or pacing. They don't seem to realize or care that there is a growing line of customers waiting as they take as long as possible with the people they are currently waiting on. They are not efficient, and don't get that you maybe shouldn't chit-chat about current events with a lot of people waiting. And if you complain, as I've heard some customers do, then you are being pushy. And wasting even more time for the people behind you. I'm sure this problem isn't exclusive to this post office, but it does exist here. read more

If I could give zero stars, or even negative stars, I would. I ended up at this post office after discovering that the post office in Jefferson Park was not processing passports today. Upon entrance, it is clear that this store is outdated and disorganized. My passport simply needed a name change update, but not a single worker there had any idea how to help me complete this process. Even though the entire place was empty, it took 20 minutes to get a 5 second picture taken. The initial woman that was helping me informed me twice that she was supposed to already be off of work- sorry for inconveniencing you! I stood at the counter forever and could see that things behind the counter were also disorganized- there were drinks and snacks lined along the counter and packages seemed to be thrown in every which way. I ended up using my phone to verify all the necessary steps and can only hope that I sent everything correctly. Before leaving I double checked my wallet to see that my ID was returned to me, and of course it had not been. It had been left on the copy machine by the woman no longer "on duty". I can absolutely guarantee that the post office in Jefferson Park would have been able to kindly and efficiently assist me. I can fully understand the slew of terrible reviews for this location and will never return. I am hoping to further pursue a formal complaint. read more

As bad as mail is in Chicago, I go out of my way to use this post office if at all possible. I'm usually there at off times, so I can't really attest to the speed, because I don't think I've ever had a super-long line ahead of me. Having a parking lot is a huge plus, though I think it's crazy that 3 weeks before Christmas 2011, they could only find something like 12 stamps for mailing regular letters (in this case, Christmas cards) outside the US. read more

I give this place 4 stars because of all the post offices I have been to in Chicago, this one takes the cake. I will say that my four stars are for the facility itself. The worker, well, when I got my PO Box here, was very slow. He was polite though, unlike the Wicker Park one that I received a refund for my PO Box because those employees were just plain disgusting. When I went here right when they opened at 10am, I was able to ship a package and check my PO Box in peace. The other customers there were also very nice which told me they were not aggravated because of the poor service like the ones you see in some post offices. I am definitely glad I was able to move my PO Box here, even if it is out of the way for me because it is worth it. read more

Not that this yelp review matters bc I highly doubt anyone from USPS gives a crap. I am typing this from my car. I just got out of the post office...9.40am. It opened at 9am. I walked in at 9.04am. One or two ppl were coming out when I was walking in. There were 5 ppl in line. Four were there for passports. One couple had 9am appt, the other couple had a 9.50am appt. The person in front of me had packages and wanted to pick up her mail. The lady working there took the 9am passport appt. There was only one person working. ?????? We all know a passport appointment can take 20-30 mins....so that meant--me and the lady in front of me had to wait? The lady in front asked for assistance. The lady behind the counter was kind of rude and ignored her 3-4 times. The passport ppl felt bad--and actually had to speak for her--to tell us that she did "ring a bell"....which I assume meant she was asking for assistance. WTF was wrong with that lady behind the counter that she couldn't politely speak to the rest of us that were waiting? A good 6-7 minutes goes by, no one comes to help us. The side door where they are sorting mail opens, I asked for assistance. She said, someone is coming...and she too snips at me---that they need to get the mail out. Finally, around 9.20am---another person comes out. The lady in front of me gives him her packages and has words with him about picking up her mail. (ppl around here haven't gotten mail in weeks). She's expecting something and he is insistent that they aren't allowed to give her her mail over the counter. She says she has gotten her mail this way before. She asked to speak to a supervisor. He goes to the back (probably speaks to supervisor). She is told to step aside. This guy is pretty cool with me. I just dropped off and got a receipt---2 minutes. In fact, the first passport couple was finishing up at the same time as me.....9.27am. USPS, it's just ignorant and irresponsible to allow ppl to make passport appointments and not use common sense to make sure you have a separate person to handle regular customers. I truly get why ppl are getting fed up with USPS. I wonder how long that lady waited for a supervisor to come out. read more

My husband and I went to the Post Office to apply for passports. We went in knowing there were many negative reviews about this process but we had a great experience. The gentleman who helped us was Jimmie. Jimmie was very helpful, courteous and friendly. We brought in our passport photos from CVS but Jimmie pointed out mine would be rejected due to hair covering my eyes. He took a new photo for me, saving me a trip to CVS for retake and then going back to the P.O. If you go into the P.O. for Passports I hope you're lucky enough to get Jimmie. read more

We live in the 6800 block of West Highland Avenue and have the absolute best mailman ever (Casiano Perez)! Last year, I had major back surgery and struggled getting the mail. When the mailman realized my limitations, he started putting the mail up on a ledge on my front porch and has done so every day (with the exception of Sunday) for the past year. Our mail is delivered without fail at the same time every day whether it is below zero or 99 degrees, and always with a sincere hello, how are you. Great guy. read more

After reading a few of the negative reviews, I feel compelled to leave a review, as my experiences have always been positive. I'm sure I have been waited on by the gentleman Carolynne is talking about in her review. I would say that I'm happy to have the Post Office employees want to make conversation during my transactions. Much better than silence. And for as many people they see on a daily basis, I imagine it is hard to remember what you have and have not talked about with them previously. I have to laugh at any post that faults the Post Office for closing exactly on time. You know it is run by the Federal Government right? LOL.
