This PO has improved greatly over the last year. The counter workers are pleasant and helpful (it was not always the case).

I had a shitty experience at the post office in Park Ridge. Yay. I was driving by and thought I should stop and submit a change of address form I'd been driving around with for weeks whilst I was thinking about it. I'd started filling it out when I got it, but you had to drop it off in person with ID so I decided I'd come back since I was in a hurry at that time. When I came to turn it in on this day, the woman said I did it wrong because the address of when I wanted the mail to be rerouted (around the date I moved) didn't match the date I'd signed the document (which I signed just before entering). Nowhere on the form do I see anything about it requiring the dates to match--in fact, that makes very little sense, since someone might submit a change of address two or three weeks before they actually want the change to take effect since it can take that long for the mail to be diverted. So she made me get out of line to complete another form, which wasn't particularly easy whilst holding a one year old and completing it one-handed. On top of that, why is it just a given that the post office sucks? I mean, I promise that if visiting the USPS wasn't worse than getting your teeth extracted that they wouldn't be bleeding money the way they are. I avoid the post office like I avoid COVID. I thought that the post office was one of the federal government's handful of PBOs (performance based organization) but there's no way given how customer service seems to be of the lowest concern to them. The post office building is nice and fancy, and the parking lot is confusing (a lot of it is one way, which I wouldn't expect with a larger parking lot like this). But like most post offices, just gird your loins upon entering. read more

Last week I wanted to send a 3-D card abroad for my mother on Mother's Day. I always send her cards like this. Unfortunately, at 4:30pm the post office was closed, although it is open until 6:00pm. A few people lined up in front of the door, unfortunately no one answered, all you could hear was a loud conversation behind the wall of the post office building. I decided to send the card another time, I left. Today I went to the same post office again. A postwoman with a sun hat on, looking at my letter the size of a standard envelope, only a little thicker, said that it was a package, not a letter. And that it would cost $20. I said no, that it was a letter, not a package, that I had sent cards like this before. She insisted on her opinion. I went to another USPS post office, at 1000 E Oakton in Des Plaines. I sent it there, a card for $2.98 ​​as usual. I went back to the Park Ridge post office to show her that I had sent the card as a letter and not a package. I showed her a picture of the envelope with the stamp and the receipt. She still insisted that it was a package and not a letter. She threatened me with the police. Park Ridge is now a sad facility... the reliable employees quit or retired. Des Plaines, Niles, and Morton Grove are much better. I asked the woman behind the counter for stamps and was told no stamps. Go to the self serve machine... guess what... no stamps! No stamps at the post office??? Well, as an update, I have to say NOT GOOD!  Firstly, within the last few months, my favorite person here, Rick, the competent and friendly customer rep whom I alluded to in my previous review, has since retired.  Sad, and too bad. More recently though, during this holiday season, we have lost two packages from two different merchants (Macy's and Kohl's) who use "Mail Innovations" protocol to deliver their packages.  With this protocol, the package starts off delivery with UPS, and is then handed off to the USPS for final delivery and with a tracking number.  Well, once it gets to the USPS, the package seems to go to The Twilight Zone, and nobody knows where it's at, and the finger pointing starts.  In both cases the package "info" is supposedly "accepted" by the USPS and it ends there.  UPS tells us the USPS has the package.  USPS says they have nothing unless the tracking says it has "arrived", duh.  To make matters worse, an in-person query here at the USPS was met with belligerence and hostility and absolutely no empathy over a lost package.  Not the case with UPS but the package was out of their hands. When I went into the Post Office, another lady customer coincidentally was present and had the exact same issue with a package from a different merchant, and with the exact same timestamp on her package status (12:41pm, Sat, Dec 11)  having shown as "accepted" here at this PO.  I was told by the supervisor that at least 4 other people had the same issue that same morning.  That seems like a signal??, but it's not their fault they say, and customers are left in limbo. Anybody else have this issue with this POS, er I meant PO?  In any event, beware but I'm not sure we have a lot of alternative options.  Well, merchants, there is Amazon though isn't there?, with their amazing delivery network, so maybe you better wise up too?? read more

This location closes at random times, on the website said they close at 6pm. We got there at 5pm today at 12/6/24 and she locks the door and walks out knowing that we are coming in. This facility decides on their own time sometimes closes at 4:30 or whenever they please. Horrible service most of the times! Never friendly or professional when I go there. read more

My local post office is on NW Highway in Chicago, yet I drive the extra distance to go to the PR Post office. Ever since COVID, there are fewer workers at the front window, but I have noticed that all mail that I mail from this post office arrives quickly to its destination. The workers at the service windows are courteous and helpful. Compared to other post offices in the area, the PR postal team does a great job of keeping the mail moving. read more

Over the course of the past year I have attempted to purchase 3-4 rolls of first-class stamps for my business at this location (in the town where I live and where we have a PO Box) on at least 10 different occasions. Only twice in all of those occasions have they had them in stock. The other times (often after standing in line for several minutes) I am met with--"I'm sorry, we don't have any." How is this possible? You're a post office? Who is in charge of running this location? As a side note, I have had to go to a different post office in a neighboring community, which has had the rolls of stamps every time I've gone there. Where is our mail? The last several weeks we have had mail delivered three or fewer times per week. I called tonight and the manager said they are understaffed because of Covid and that mail is going out every other day. But that has not been the case. I have not received a mail delivery the last four consecutive business days. This is crazy. read more

They'll lose your package that you pay extra to ship, will say you're not eligible for a refund because "it's not lost, it just hasnt been scanned yet" even after the supposed delivery date has well passed, and to top it off they'll gaslight you on the phone, talk down to you, interrupt you, and tell you there's nothing they can do. I walk in the cold evening in late December, when I had COVID to put my letter with the check for my fine on the speeding . The mail box had some plastic on it and I remove a little and I put my envelope there because it was the last day to pay my fine . I don't have no idea what they did with my envelope . They probably destroyed. I got a letter from the Chicago city hall to pay double for my fine . I tried to called the manager of this post office . I was on my phone for a half hour and no luck . So sad to enter a government service building that has so absolutely little to offer in the way of service. No hustle and bustle here. The absolute MINIMUM in help or information is given at any single moment. I had to go through the line 3 times as information was given to me on an "as needed" basis. The workers looked like their teeth were being extracted and the effort I saw in any single given task was in SLOW MOTION. What happened to pride in the workplace? I'd give it zero stars if I could. Every time I come here, the young Asian lady at the counter is so rude. I was waiting in line and she was being so rude to the customers ahead of me. One by one they all got the same poor customer service from her. She needs to be in the back where no one can see her or interact with her. This is a terrible office.  The people in the back and those making the deliveries seems as though they don't know what they are doing. I had a scheduled delivery for Wednesday and spent my whole day waiting for the package. They hadn't even attempted to deliver it, as I was home all day. Only at 7pm the tracking status switched to "available for pickup", the next day I went to the USPS which was closed. The following morning, I checked the status which said it was still available for pickup, but I went back again and they told me it's out for delivery at the moment. 3pm still no one know where the package is. Long story short.... they will waste your time and lost your package because of their disorganization. read more

Park Ridge Post Office!! So angry right now! 10 people in line at the post office, ( I'm not kidding) only ONE person at the counter. I got up there and said, " do you have anybody else to come out? You got a line out the door!" Says, " I'm the only one." Get your supervisor out there. That's what they're there FOR! Woman had long black hair, Asian. Delivery really messed up. I never had this before, but one person keeps delivering in a mess. This woman lied that the door was locked when she had never delivered. The man who delivered before had no such problem. The woman who is delivering now is really messed up, every time when she is working season every packages and mail are never deliver and we have to go to USPS store to pick up. Here is the latest. Due to mail theft from the drop boxes in front of the post office, they are now stretch wrapped and inoperable so you must go inside and drop off your letter. I guess changing the locks and installing cameras is too impactable. read more

With some minor improvements recently this place is a nightmare. Although some employees don't deserve this review their overall grade should be 0. Missing mail, understaffed and making you feel they are doing you a favor to provide any service. Shame we keep spoiled businesses like that under the government's umbrella. read more

Revised review: Our one and only post office in Park Ridge. OK, it's not like the my old 60634 madhouse on Irving and Narragansett or the brain-dead office for 60639. However, it has its share of problems. Parking isn't one of them, except maybe around Christmas time or on a Saturday morning. The lobby has the PO boxes and a package mailing system. Pretty much for everything else, you have to wait inside. Buying stamps is particularly annoying here, since they could boost efficiency by putting in a machine that dispenses rolls of stamps like the Des Plaines office on Oakton. But no, you wait in line for something that simple. Meanwhile, the people manning the counter take random breaks regardless of the line. You could have a line all the way to the door with the counter help of 3 people going down to 2. There was a redeeming quality while I waited during my latest visit. The music playing inside was none other than Yes' classic 90125 album in its entirety. I heard 3 songs in sequential order before my turn came up. At least someone's got good taste, so it's not a complete waste of my time. For area residents, I recommend sticking to the more efficient Des Plaines or the Harwood Heights 60656 branches for your postal needs. read more

Hopefully this will let me give 0 stars. Service is HORRIBLE IN Park Ridge. I've had lots of mail never delivered to me, PR to PR mail take 9 days, and when I do a vacation hold, I find 10 days of mail STUFFED into my box! Counter service is poor and supervisor is lazy and sits at her desk and does not pitch in to help. On top of it all, I've had to complain to the city that our PO always has overgrown grass and weeds and unkempt bushes. Just plain UGLY! read more

I live in a condo with an intercom system and post office just don't deliver the packages there. For some reason they put a note "insufficient address" or some other random note and send the package back to the sender. They don't attempt to redeliver or neither the package is available at the post office to pick up. As I am writing this they sent back my medicine back to pharmacy. I always try to choose other carries and avoid the post office at all cost but once in a while I have to use it. And they are not able to deliver half of the times (literally). I wish post office manager would read it and make the service more reliable or at least give me the opportunity to pick up my packages, don't send them back for no reason. I assume the reason is sloppiness of the carries. I never have any issues with other carries and the address is super easy to find. The problem is that the post office can't/doesn't want to leave the packages outside so they just send them back to the sender. read more

We have never had so many postal problems until moving our office to Park Ridge and having to deal with the Park Ridge Post Office. I now have 3 checks that we deposited in the mail at this branch in the last couple of months, that our vendors never received, some resulting in late charges to us. When our office was in Chicago and we used the post office branch on Northwest Hwy in the 60631 zip code, we never had these problems. The workers at the Park Ridge branch are also very unfriendly and show no interest in your postal needs. They should all be fired. During these difficult times, I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would relish a job at this branch and offer better service and with a smile! The manager at this branch should be held accountable. The attitudes and level of service are set by the manager, who apparently doesn't care and is just there to collect a paycheck by doing as little as possible! read more

This place is a nightmare. They constantly lose my packages. They always have an excuse but can never come up with packages. Have talked to the manager Barbara every time. they said they would geT back to me have never have yet. Every time I have a packages. sent via UPD Surepost where the Post Office delivers the last leg I just have it sent to my UPS store for pickup. They have yet to screw up yet. The woman at the desk does not make any eye contact with the people waiting in line. Where do I start with this post office! I just needed to tape the top of a small box that I was going to mail. The lady at the counter, after waiting in line, said that I have to buy the tape. It's one little piece to tape the box! So I come back the next day. I'm first in line at 8:25A. They open at 8:30A. Well, customers start to line up behind me. It is now 8:40A, they are still not open. About 8-10 customers in line now. It is now 8:50A, after ringing the doorbell, knocking on the door, nothing. A person inside looks at us, just keeps walking. FINALLY! Someone opens the door. He says, we will not be opening today. We don't have the staff, but yet inside we clearly see he did. And I saw the lady who assisted me the day prior. Total shit show at this PO. Always has been. When will they staff this post office with the competence that Park Ridge residents deserve. This post office sucks. I paid for certified, return receipt and registered. Who checks for a signature ? Nobody had to worry about that because I was told it should take two days to get to downtown Chicago. It has been 8 days and nobody knows where my certified letter is. So, instead of just using a first class stamp, I paid $6.70 so I can get proof of delivery. The game tickets I sent are now no good because the game was played tonight and my friend never got the tickets. Whenever I called this post office I waited. The first time was 47 minutes and the next was 51 minutes. NOBODY will pick up the phone. The service sucks. They are pathetic. read more

If I could avoid going to this place I absolutely would! in fact I do, I would rather drive to Des Plains post office before I go to the Park Ridge one. Most employees here are not very nice, they have no customer service skills. I been here plenty of times and I am not changing my mind. I feel that they know we as customers NEED their services and they are right but they also need the business so they should care about their customers. It is impolite when you are standing in front of them and they barely acknowledge you and they keep on with their conversation amongst themselves and or with customers they know who probably go there in a regular bases. I have been trying to have my elderly mother's mail forwarded to me since November of 2017 - that is 4 months! I have gone into the post office 3 times, filled out the forms twice, and the last time I went in, the manager had no idea why the mail wasn't being forwarded. The manager told me he would look into it and call me (yes I gave him my phone number), but he never called back. I have tried to call them repeatedly, but they never answer the phone.
