This company is A COMPLETE RIP OFF and THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL!! My current visitors temporary pass fell off where it was hung and the vehicle got booted. Although we INDEED have a parking permit the LOSER that came to "assist" us WAS THAT MONEY HUNGRY and refused to remove the boot without being paid.The vehicles rear view mirror is thicker than the parking permits attachment and it did not fit so we hung a cable and put the parking through it and it fell off. This company does not give two fucks if you have a permit or anything at all !! All they want is money! Last night I was visiting a friend who I have visited many times late at night. He lives in a cul-de-sac in vineyard by Sleep Ridge. It is at the end of the road past 5 speed bumps. No-one was in any of the 5 spots but me. My friend who lives there nor I had any clue that a visitor pass must be obtained to park past 1am. I got there at 9pm and stayed very late (3am or so). When I left the house, my car was booted. The sign and info regarding this was far from my car, and no sign at entrance of cul-de-sac. When I called, the young man started a canned response and I started asking more specific questions. He accused me of interrupting him and threatened just to come down and 'charge me' if I didn't stop interrupting him. I asked why I had not just received a warning in this case, when clearly my presence was not a nuisance. He asked me if I wanted him to come unboot me and I said yes. I asked him another question and he hung up on me. I waited in cold for 10 minutes, calling him 3 more times (he did not answer), not knowing whether he was coming or not. He arrived, and continued to be very evasive. He would not tell me name of the company who hires them, and continued to accuse me of interrupting and escalating the situation every time I asked a question. Of course, since I was his 'hostage', I had to pay so I could get home (it was already 3:30-4:00 am). As I asked him to answer a few more questions, he turned a simply left. This is absolutely a predatory and immoral approach to traffic enforcement. Vineyard regulations require them to give me the company name, phone and address of the company who is fining me. They also require the sign to be posted within 5 ft. of the entrance to the parking lot. There is no way I could have seen the sign in the dark and it was at least 10-15 feet away from my car when I pulled in. If you have an issue, you can't speak to anyone. You have to mail a form to them which will be reviewed by an 'independent panel' of UVU students within 2 months. Ridiculous. Might be time to 'Get Gebhart' from KSL on this company. read more

The year was 2012. The day was Valentine's. On what was supposed to be a special night, I was about to encounter unexpected circumstances. I was being watched from a distance. Someone was lying in wait ready to catch me in a snare. My issue with this experience is that I was victim of predatory towing. I went to pick up my date at her apartment. I pulled my car up to the front of her townhouse, turned on the emergency blinkers and called for her at the front door. I stepped inside for 5 minutes to wait for her while she grabbed her coat. As we stepped back outside, the tow truck had my car hoisted in the air and was ready to pull away. There was no clear sign that stated that "parking" on the street was illegal, only designated parking stalls with University Parking Enforcement signs stating that residents with valid parking passed could park. My car was not obstructing the normal flow of vehicle traffic. My car headlights and emergency blinkers were on signaling that I was not actually going to park. I was 15 feet away from my car and clearly visible through the French window doors. I was gone no longer than 5 minutes and was "actively" loading passengers in my car. I was bullied into paying $75 by the towing driver, who said to me in front of my date, "Well, you want to get your special person to her special dinner don't you? Either pay me $75 now or have fun walking to get there." I would definitely not recommend this business as a company that cares about supporting the community and making it a safer place to live. read more

During my time in Provo I was wrongfully booted 2 times, as well as towed once at 2:30am for parking in a stall THAT I WAS PAYING FOR. This place is a joke and predatory on students who can barely afford rent, tuition, and living expenses--like I was. Their towing practices are immoral if not often illegal. I was able to get my car unbooted and released from their impound without paying bc I was able to prove to the employees and manager that I was wrongfully penalized for parking. It's a terrible thing to prey on people trying to better their positions and landlords in Provo need to reassess their involvement with this shady company. read more

They even ensure that no one lingers in our visitor parking for more than 30min...God forbid that ANYONE makes any visit for longer than that! What would we do without our parking saviors?!?! A beautiful illustration of their valiant service is during the summer when I barely parked crooked enough in my spot that it truly would've been a squeeze for someone to park in the spot right next to me. The fact that I was already paying monthly for my parking pass, or that there were 55 other open spots was irrelevant. So they booted me. And I'm so grateful that they did because then my grocery money for the month ensured that every soul at my complex that night had the freedom to choose spot #46 right next to me. And instead of just fulfilling my temporal needs as a college student living off of student loans, my money went to a better cause!! Liberating any son or daughter of God that desired to park right next to my car in spot #46 on that very night. No one would be forced to park in the other 55 open spots any longer!! They guys that showed up were very rude and told us it was $60 to unlock. We looked at the sign they told to look at and it says $50!!! They had a partially hidden sign that said they would boot at 10pm. They waited until it turned 10pm and booted my car on the dot. Why are you just waiting around parking lots to screw people over? I had to deal with this company so many times when I lived in Provo it was ridiculous. Only one of those times was for my actual car because they put a boot on it. They must have been sitting there watching the clock standing next to my car until it was 11pm because I got there a few minutes after to move my car and there was already a boot. I guess I was lucky I didn't get towed. I had multiple friends get towed or be in the process of getting towed and have heard of countless other people deal with the shady and predatory tactics that UPE employees regularly engage in. Even when someone shows up to their car before it gets towed UPE will attempt to charge them hundreds of dollars. I understand the need for towing companies and parking regulations, but Provo is the city with some of the worst parking I've ever seen and this company is the city's enforcers. read more

Now here's a business that you hopefully will never have to deal with. They are in charge of a lot of the towing and boots in Orem and Provo. They aren't lenient, they're aggressive, and they're stone cold. It's outrageous how much they charge for towing/boots. They regularly patrol, since the workers get paid commission, which is a crock in my opinion. This sort of thing should not be in be hands of a business, it should be taken care of by the state. Towing and boots should happen far less frequently. It is just as effective to give out fines and parking tickets, and is a lot safer/more considerate/more beneficial to society in my opinion. Back to this business. They will not inform you that your car has been towed, until about a week has passed. They WILL, however, start adding on extra fees every day you don't pick up your vehicle after 24 hours. Even though you are sometimes within your legal bounds, you are far out of ethical bounds, and your predatory bully practices have reverberating affects. Our daughter's date you booted while he was carrying her groceries up (had hazard lights on and parked in a future resident space) has now dropped all his classes at BYU to work because he ran out of money to live. The $75 You demanded and held up in the grim and time consuming 6-8 week repeal process isn't the entire reason, but it added to him not having enough grocery money. Our other daughter's boyfriend, you booted while he was in the process of moving in caused three days of family turmoil between him and his parents. He was using a family vehicle since he can't afford his own and the $75 was a lot of money to his parents who have a large family. Our children share three different vehicles depending on the weather and even though there were available spots in the lot we pay for them to live they didn't want to park there because that vehicle didn't have a sticker and was after hours for them to get one from the office. After 1.5 hours of looking for a public spot, she called in tears because the only spot she could find was a 20 minute walk through a sketchy part of town, the safe choice she made (at this point it was almost 1am) was to leave a note in her window explaining she was a resident and you left your notice next to her note with a boot. This isn't the first time parking policies have taken hours away from study or sleep and caused emotional distress on our daughters who should have been able to park where they live. If there are any smart Marriott school of business entrepreneur students/BYU law students/computer science/design students who could come together to create a win-win parking situation for tenants/owners/tow truck companies and change the laws at the state level-because although UPE often feels they are within their legal bounds they are far out of ethical bounds, and the effect they have is bigger than any of us realize on the quality of life in Provo and Orem that effects parents and families around the nation who have students. This is a college town, Provo and Orem depend on these students for their economy-make it a happy and fair place to live. read more

We met up to take our kids to get cupcakes, & when we finished, and made our way out to the public parking lot, her car was gone. Getting it back was a joke! They thought we were using the public parking for an event. We weren't. We still had to pay the fine to get her car back ($175). And now she 'gets' to appeal it. I know what I have to say is heresay, and it sounds like I have sour grapes... But truly, what they did was borderline unethical. We had the reciept from the cupcake place, but that meant nothing. They had the car, and thus, all the power. I still cannot explain why they towed her car, and not mine? Truly, there was no rhyme or reason to the cars they were towing. They had 2 tow trucks in the parking lot; taking cars out of there as quickly as they could. It was a good thing they didn't tow my car too, so that my sister and I and our four kids had a way to get to the impound yard. When we went to get her car back, the door to the building was locked. When we finally got someone to open it, we sort of wished they hadn't. It was scary. The cheatin' characters that work there were so smug. Bad news all around. read more

Had a temporary car and got it approved by my management. Fought with the people and finally made the payment. They then took my money and said it wasn't paid. I called my bank and they confirmed it was sent. They then sent me a new payment Invoice to double charge me. This is crazy and as a resident this isn't the first time it's happened. Over the years I lived in Utah County I had a few run-ins with this company. All of the employees were ruthless; which made me believe the company was run by monsters seeking to extract as much money as they possibly could from anyone possible. One time, I parked in a spot that didn't seem like an infraction to me but I came out and my car was being loaded onto the truck. I politely apologized and asked if I could move it. I'm very sad that place like this actually exist. Granted it is important to have towing companies out there and to enforce parking in any city. But they does not mean that the residents of any place should be taken advantage of. I was towed yesterday in my own complex, granted i had a pink pass and was parked in a green pass area. Nonetheless I was towed. Nobody called it in but I later find out they they patrol that area "5 or 6" times a night according to the clerk. I thought that they would be a little more lenient after the city's new laws were passed. Upon asking the tenant who towed my car, he told me that he makes about 30% of every tow that he does. That's not bad money when the initial charge for every tow in $175, and on my receipt it says it took him 2 minutes to get my car on the lift. No wonder they are so aggressive when it comes to their "enforcement." Since I have a new card, it only works through the chip instead of swiping. Since this company only has swipe machines, my chip card did not work. He explained that this was not their problem, and forced me to wait outside on the curb while he urgently went to go tow another client. The moral of the story is you don't have to be rude, or aggressive even if you are a towing company. I would hope that companies like this in this great city would have a little more class and respect even in this industry. read more

I'm sure your company is a joy to work for, and I'm sure as landlords, of course you're going to be happy that you can get rid of freeloading parked cars. Nobody likes jerks who steal designated parking. Unfortunately, the reality is that far too many cases of booting and towing have been for perfectly validly parked cars. I have never had my car booted or towed, thankfully. But for every story I hear of one validly towed car, I hear at least three or four of improper booting and towing. The predatory practices of this company are well known to those living in Provo. I don't care that you're setting the bar for the industry, and are the most ethical and professional company. If you're the best, and this many of the people who interact with you are upset, there's clearly a problem. As an example, my brother's car was towed from Foxwood Condos, a bit over three years ago. He didn't have a parking sticker, because he hadn't received one from management, and he talked to them about this, and was informed that his car would not be towed. While attending school in Provo I experienced many run-ins with UPE. Fortunately for me, most of these experiences didn't involve my own car. But the one that did was infuriating! It was the weekend of Halloween and I was stopping by a friends house to pick up an item for my costume. She lived in a community with parking garages attached to each unit, so I pulled up directly behind HER garage, put on my flashers and ran up to the door. Literally no more than 60 seconds later my friend, standing in her doorway handing me the item I came to pick up, pointed toward my car. UPE was there beginning to back up toward my car. I ran over but the driver had already lifted the front tires of my car and refused to put it down and demanded that I pay the booting fee of $100 or he would drive away with my car. He claimed he had driven by 10 minutes earlier and my car had been in the same spot - literally impossible. I needed my car back, so what's a girl to do in that situation? I was forced to pay him that $100, which meant I wouldn't be eating much for the month of November (there went my food budget!) This experience is typical of UPE. They are dishonest and unfair. I don't actually think they do any business besides the shady stalking of student parking lots. They make their money off of poor college students who most of the time aren't even in the wrong. read more

UPE illegally towed my car. I was NEVER presented with my Utah Consumer Bill of Rights upon initial contact (or ever), my car was NOT inspected before it was loaded on the vehicle, the tow truck driver did NOT report my car to the required Utah state site (tow occurred at 7:10 PM last night, it is now 8:11 AM the next day, still not there), the tow truck driver extorted money out of me which is ILLEGAL SINCE HE DIDN'T LEGALLY LOG MY CAR. Predatory towing is also illegal in Utah, he went to the corner of my mother's street, flipped around, and took my car. But this not so lovely person told three other people a different story. On my way out to work my car was incorrectly booted in my own apartment complex. I had to wait over 90 minutes for the booster to return. After asking why I was booted I asked to see his picture evidence for why he proceeded with the boot. He was insistent that he wouldn't take it off. During this time I was calling get my boss to let him know why I was late. He looked through his pictures after seeing where my sticker actually was, and just snuggly put it away and said, "must have been the window tint." Refused to give any information. It wasn't until my boss called back suggesting they expect a subpoena for the harm they caused his business, that he actually let me out of my boot. Personally had my car towed and was treated very poorly when I attempted to retrieve my car. I also discovered that they had charged me significantly more that I should have been charged because they had my tow coming from the wrong location. I guess some locations may more to have a higher tow charge. read more
