During our daughter's appointment, the staff completely undressed her down to her diaper in a chilly exam room, performed the rest of her exam and vitals, and then took her temperature last. It came back low. Rather than allowing us to warm and swaddle her for a few minutes and simply retaking her temperature, Dr. Peterson barely examined her himself. He didn't take the time to reassess her temperature, perform a more thorough evaluation, or explore whether there could have been an environmental reason for the reading. Instead, after only a brief interaction, he immediately told us to be concerned about a possible infection and sent us straight to Primary Children's Hospital for a full sepsis workup. By the time we arrived at the hospital, her temperature was already completely normal. Because of the referral, however, she still had to undergo blood draws, urine testing, and cultures, followed by an overnight hospital stay while we waited for the culture results. Throughout the entire hospitalization, every nurse and physician told us her vital signs looked great. Her blood and urine tests were reassuring, and her cultures remained negative. Ultimately, we were told there was no infection and that this appeared to be an environmental temperature issue rather than an illness. I absolutely understand that newborns should be evaluated carefully and that physicians should err on the side of caution. However, I expected a more thoughtful and thorough assessment before my three-day-old daughter was sent to the emergency department for invasive testing and an overnight hospital admission. I was also only three days postpartum, so having to spend the day and night there while I was still recovering myself, only to find out this was something the pediatrician could have prevented, was incredibly frustrating. A repeat temperature after warming her, along with a more complete examination, could have prevented an incredibly stressful experience for our family. I hope this office reviews its process for obtaining newborn temperatures and ensuring a complete evaluation is performed before families are sent to the emergency department, so other parents don't have to go through a similar experience.

We've had appointments with 2/3 of the doctors, and they both seem very passive; knowledgeable, but passive. It almost feels like they are only listening part of the time, which could easily be the case. The office stays busy, so they probably have a lot on their minds, and when they see a happy, healthy baby, it's not so much a concern. BONUS! They will trade you for diapers that your baby has outgrown if you bring them in. Don't take advantage, but they've switched out a full diaper bag's worth for us before.

We looked into UV Pediatrics after their on-call pediatrician met with us in the hospital the day after delivery and their pamphlet seemed to portray a well organized and reputable practice. However, that was the last positive experience with them. Our child was cautious for Jaundice so we had four different bilirubin tests done after we were discharged. EVERY single time, someone from the practice failed to call us after they received the results. Every time, we patiently waited but were forced to follow up on our own. Every time we called, they acted like they had no idea why we were calling but after looking into it, realized her test results were just sitting there waiting to be reviewed. I'm sure the doctors are knowledgeable and good pediatricians, however their nurses and administration have left me with absolutely zero confidence in their ability to facilitate the care of my child.

We were experiencing it in kindergarten as well and didn't know where to turn for help. So I spent several hours reading reviews and choose based off what I had read to come to Utah Valley Pediatrics. We scheduled with a doctor who will remain un-named because this is not about him. He gave us a list of psychologists to test and work with my son on the sensory end. We have taken him to a psychologist and have been getting him help. With school starting the wearing of a mask is proving to be something thats too much for him. So I had the psychologist write a letter and took it to the school. I was told that my letter from the psychologist would not be sufficient to make my son exempt from wearing a mask. I was told that I had to get a signed form from a medical doctor. So I called Utah Valley Pediatrics office told them of my dilemma and told them I could bring in the letter from the psychologist and after 3 phone calls and checking and double checking I was told they have a COMPANY WIDE POLICY NOT to sign ANY mask exempt forms of any kind. Are you kidding me. They are the ones who gave me the list of psychologist to go to for help. If they can not do whats best for their patients on a patient by patient basis and make decisions based off the medical knowledge they have there is no way I'd ever trust them with any of my children. I MISS my old pediatrician!!

I knew she didn't need emerangcy care, she was just a sick baby, and I was trying to see if they could just give her something to help. I called alpine pediatric and they set an appt that day, and guess what! She was getting through rsv all on her own and her little body was doing its job. The fact that they just wanted me go to the er, makes me think they have some deal with the children hospital and get a cut from each child they send there. They don't care about your child, they just want your money.

My 3 month old had Covid, they gave him Tylenol and didn't suggest Covid or test for anything, I took him to instacare and he was tested for multiple things by one test and within minutes we had his test results. I called the office to let them know and they didn't seem to care. This hasn't been the only instant where they've acted dismissive and haven't tested or given good instructions for care of my sick children, I've gone to insta care and they get us in asap and test and give paperwork with instructions. For check ups uvped is great but for illness go to instacare.

She will wait a solid hour (minimum) in the lobby before they finally call her back, then she'll wait another 30 mins in the room, hearing the doctor and nurses bs and socialize ... before the doctor walks in to give her 1-5 minutes of generic "things look great, see you next time". I think it's beyond rude and disrespectful to treat patients that way, to treat them as if their time means nothing.
