Doors were locked when we got there so we had some issues trying to communicate that with the people inside which made for a weird start but the environment inside was nice, clean and comfortable. The male server we had was very pleasant and on top of everything. Overall, the food was fabulous. Everything we had was vegan. To start we had the polenta fries which were good but needed salt and there was no salt at the table so that was a minus. I had the gnocchi with tofu, it was a generous portion with a nice presentation and the flavor came out beautifully once I got some salt on it. I really savored every bite of this meal. The side piece of bread was not served with any olive oil or vegan butter so that was a little disappointing. My partner had the vegan bean burger and he liked the flavor but it was very messy for him and he had a bit of trouble eating it neatly which made him not love his as much as I loved my plate. The fresh cut fries on the side of his plate were nice. To drink we both had a couple of utopia daiquiris, they were delicious and strong. Top notch. I took home the baklava (made with agave, not honey) and honestly it was the best I've ever had. It had a very nice salted caramel profile to it so I thoroughly enjoyed it. Our party consisted of two vegetarians (and I'm part of that club) and one carnivore. We started with roasted Brussel Sprouts that were crispy, with a taste of anise sweetness complemented beautifully with yogurt cheese. I decided to have the roasted cauliflower, expertly prepared with an apricot relish over basmati rice. So good! My brother had a vegan filet mignon that was cooked "medium rare" and had the consistency of meat, but tastier. My sister in law had Chicken Milanese which she said was among the best she ever had. The restaurant had this nice open feel to it and the service was friendly and very professional. I told the server that I wished I lived in the area, as I'd be here more often. We stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for an other one. . It was the best surprise find on our trip. We had a delicious Greek salad, tasty and very light Musaka , cauliflower steak on rice with a delicious chutney. The chocolate cake was outstanding! We visited on March 31st 2023. We were both looking forward to trying this new venue for us. We were disappointed. Service was extremely slow and we were there early evening. I had the Farro bowl and it was unremarkable. My wife order veg lasagna and chicken meat balls. The chicken meat balls could not be cut open - turns out they were falafel balls. The lasagna was overcooked/burnt. We pointed out the unsatisfactory lasagna and rock-like meatballs. The server took the plate to the kitchen and returned a few minutes later with a report from the chef that food was fine. They did send a new set of falafel balls (we order chicken balls). We did cut one open and realized they were falafel. And like the farro bowl, they were unremarkable. The sangria cocktail was good. One Star for that. read more

Pretty good, not comparable to Med food in the city. However Bangor is small and this will do for a change in pace. The Greek salad was really good and I should have just stuck with that. Traveling on military orders, I visited Utopia on 3/9/22 after a long 10 hour work day without a lunch break. Anyway, not familiar the the area, I placed a to-go order over the phone, picked up my food, and headed to the hotel. When I finally settled in my room, I WAS DISGUSTED at the food quality... never mind the small portion of chicken, IT WAS BURNED TO A CRISP! Usually, I'm calm, but I immediately called the restaurant and expressed that they cannot treat customers poorly by serving this quality of food. The business offered me a credit of $31.36, towards my next visit. I immediately declined because this did not meet my expectations of a fine dining establishment. I then considered their offer to remake my food. But I expressed that that wasn't fair either considering the gas price inflation, I've worked all day, and just settled into my hotel room. The owner personally called me within 2 minutes of the second offer, and said she would refund my card $31.36, apologized sincerely, and expressed that her staff would do a better job at checking the food before it reached the customer. I accepted her apology too. For dinner, I ended up picking up a small deli sandwich from the gas station next to the hotel because Utopia's food was not consumable Unfortunately, it's been 4 days and the restaurant never reversed the charge. Beautiful restaurant, but horrible food... DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY OR GAS HERE!!!! Don't say that I didn't want you!!!! We visited Utopia this spring after a graduation ceremony's at the University of Maine. We had a party of 6 and we ordered several appetizers that were absolutely delicious and we had 5 different entrées that were so wonderfully prepared by the chef, it was just the perfect end to the day. We are so glad we went to this amazing restaurant the food, drinks the atmosphere and amazing staff were just phenomenal. I wish that we lived closer because this would be a weekly stop for us. We waited a fair amount of time for our appetizer, but it was very good. We enjoyed some drinks while we waited for our meal. An hour went by waiting four our meals. When they arrived, one of the plates was completely cold, the other steaming hot. I assume there was a mistake made, and one of the dishes must've been remade . Aside from the food I received being cold, the chicken had been burnt when seared. The broccoli was nothing but stems on both dishes. The salmon my partner ordered was overdone. I've always heard good things, however this was my first time. Hopefully my experience isn't normal practice. My fav part was the layering the Muhammara with the House Made Labneh Cheese on the pita. The cheese was outstanding - creamy and not so salty like traditional feta. Then we chose to share the MIXED MUSHROOMS, PAPPARDELLE PASTA. I really appreciated that you could taste the truffle flavor in the sauce and it was obvious that the pasta was freshly made as it was cooked perfectly (slightly softer than al dente which is my preference). We still had a small portion to bring home despite sharing an entree. Only $30 for a bottle of Greek wine - light red, which complimented the meal perfectly. My wife & I went to Utopia for the first time this evening. We've been meaning to get there over the last few months since we've moved into the area and WOW are we glad that we made it in. Everything from start to finish was OUTSTANDING. Service was excellent and at our pace which we appreciated. The ambiance was great as well with flowers on the tables and appropriately dimmed lighting. But those were just the bridesmaids to the food. The Utopia salad was fresh and 'citrusy' with toasted pine nuts, feta and grapefruit. Our entrees were the stars, sweet pea ravioli with chicken meatballs & eggplant rollatini were fantastic. I am surprised to see this restaurant has the positive reviews it has and equally unsurprised to see the restaurant completey empty on a Saturday afternoon/evening. I've been there twice and one for my birthday with not too many people in there and the owner made it such a nice night that I'm grateful for. The woman that owns Utopia puts in so much work to make it such a lovely experience. She is usually there and is so approachable plus unbelievably kind. There's not too many people that are this creative and willing to explore so many amazing ingredients and she definitely excels in this.
