Steak, tots and veggies- SO GOOD!
    Heather C.

I wanted to give a fair review, so I have eaten here twice this week while staying at the hotel. The first meal I wasn't impressed with - salmon was super salty from whatever soy mixture they use for the glaze. Fries were soggy and soft, and soaked in the glaze (not good). I also ordered desert, apple crisp with a scoop of Icecream. The apple crisp was not good- very watery, not very warm and the scoop of Icecream was more like a half scoop. The waitress took the dessert off my bill without my asking, so that was nice! The next visit, I ordered the steak with tots and veggie- SO MUCH BETTER! The tots are amazing, don't ever get the fries, always go for the tots. They are crispy and perfect. The steak was cooked to my temperature and tasty. The veggies were good. And then I ordered their signature cheesecake- HOLY YUM! They drizzle Bailey's Irish cream on it and it is so good! I like the ambiance too- the first time I sat in the more "restaurant" type of area up front, but the second time I went with my iPad and worked through dinner in a corner booth, true to pub style. Overall, I have to give 4 out of five, though I would have given a 5 on that last dine experience.

Stayed here for a business trip. Came down for the hotel bar. Food looked good but never ordered myself just drinks this trip. Jill the bartender pulled off a cloverleaf with every pour so that is solid itself!! Good pours and drinks for a hotel bar. The bartender worked it I'm not sure anyone waited for a drink. Good conversation with the staff and other travelers. Well worth a visit if you are staying forsure!!

    Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich (Special)

I ordered their special, "Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich". I got mine fried (they had a grilled option). The sandwich was huge! I ended up taking off the bun and still not finishing it! The fries were perfect too! I sat at the bar and the bartender was great.

This spot is cozy and quaint and full of friendly local staff members. It was Kentucky Derby day and a lot of folks we were watching it as we walked in, ambiance was jovial and loud. Greeted immediately by the hostess and bartender and waited a short while for a table to open up. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the Reuben. He is Jewish and loves Reubens, gets them all the time. He said this one was really, really good. Great texture to the meat. Now, my Chicken Sandwich - was the best I've ever had in my life. I told my husband, I will be holding any and all future chicken sandwiches up to this one as the benchmark. The breaded chicken breast was huge and delicious quality white meat. It was dipped in buffalo sauce, and had fresh slaw, pickles, tomato and blue cheese sauce. It was DECADENT and it really hit the spot for me after a long day. I could not stop eating it. YUMMMM. Oh, we also ordered the pub fries - loaded with aioli and cheese and greens. Fries were delish but a bit too much aioli for our taste. Still, wonderful! Huge portion. Overall, food was yummy, out quickly, service was great and we loved the vibes. Easily a fav for us on this trip and we'll be looking forward to coming back again some day!

The place is nuts on Memorial Day weekend but the funny bartender and the cold drinks helped us relax. (People and crazy ass busy downs drive us nuts!) The cocktail was tasty but mostly ice. The Guinness was cold and tasty.

McLaughlin's seafood was the top choice for both the hot lobster roll and the traditional cold lobster roll. Super friendly service, slightly chilly outside in May, but it must stop and have for lobster rolls in me.

As someone who grew up on the coast of New England and has eaten fresh seafood my entire life, I…read morewas genuinely excited to stop here. The "fresh fish market" branding set high expectations. Unfortunately, what arrived was one of the most disappointing seafood meals I've had in recent memory. I ordered the fried scallops and the New England clam chowder. The scallops were immediately suspect -- soft, wet, and mushy with none of the firm, sweet, clean flavor that fresh scallops are known for. The texture and taste were consistent with frozen scallops that had been improperly thawed. The batter was soggy rather than crisp, and there was no seasoning whatsoever -- not even salt. I tried four before I stopped. The chowder was equally disappointing. It bore little resemblance to a proper New England clam chowder -- thin, oily, and heavily salted, with barely any cream base and no depth of flavor. I had two bites. I want to be fair: I was staying directly across the street and ate the food immediately, so neither dish had a chance to deteriorate in transit or sitting out. What I tasted is what was served. For a restaurant marketing itself as a fresh seafood destination in Maine, this fell far short of the standard -- and frankly, far short of what the region is capable of. I'd encourage the owners to revisit both their sourcing and their kitchen fundamentals.
