Stopped by The Grind House on my way through from Bar Harbor to Boston Logan International…read more I was excited to see an impossible breakfast sandwich on the menu as well as a peanut butter mocha. Seriously, two of my favorite things to see on a coffee house menu. That said the execution was a bit off for me. The Impossible breakfast sandwich was served on an insubstantial bun (the type that is more air than anything) and was overall pretty basic. Their signature sauce mentioned in several dishes, seems to be thousand island or maybe tartar sauce? Either way, it wasn't my favorite. The peanut butter mocha was also a bit of a miss for me. I wasn't a fan of either their chocolate or their espresso (or the peanut butter flavor they used, for that matter). The shop itself is quirky and comfortable. We were able to get a spot by the windows, which was nice and the service was lovely. It would definitely be a good and comfortable spot for working and it could be that had I ordered differently, it may have been more my cup of tea (or coffee, as they case may be). But for what I ordered, it was a bit of a swing and a miss.

Walked in and wow, lots to read on the menu! Which can be good and bad depending on how much time…read moreyou want to spend reading menus. I chose a egg and cheese on a croissant bun and a caramel turtle latte. I came here because it had been highly recommended, but I have to say, I expected more, but depends on what you like, right?? Plenty of seating, centrally located in the city, easy parking, and plenty of coffee concoctions to try out. My coffee was missing the whipped cream, but oh well. The froth for the latte was odd, it deflated super quickly, not sure what happened there. And the sweetness was sweet, but it was missing that caramel turtle flavor I thought I was going to get. For me, this was meh. I expected something more decadent. My egg sandwich was good. Basic. Not a real croissant either. It was a croissant bun of some sort. It seemed, well, basic, or economical. But it was filling and the egg was good. I also have to say that when I departed, I smelled like a convenience store that sells those hotdogs on rollers... I smelled all day, I had to wash my hair to get the smell out. I also have to mention the heavy music that was playing. It was obscene and it was loud. So loud it made it challenging to order and I did eat my meal quickly and leave. It was a Tuesday morning around 9 am. But hey I am getting older so this may not have been a good choice for me.

This place is the BOMB!…read more I've lived in Southern Maine for over 30 years, and while I have heard ALL about Dysarts, I haven't made the trek before now. It took a concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater to get me to head north, and I am SO glad I did! We got a booth pretty quickly, and even though we were both recommended (several) times to go with the breakfast menu, we ended up ordering one hot open-face turkey sandwich and a pot roast dinner. The turkey sandwich was fantastic, plentiful, and smothered in gravy. I also requested extra cranberry sauce (always), which was perfect. The pot roast dinner started with the most excellent dinner rolls, fresh and warm, then moved to a giant portion of pot roast with gravy, real mashed potatoes, and a side of peas (also perfect). We would have stayed longer and ordered more, but it was time to go, and we were stuffed. Next time.

Great for larger and smaller groups. It was fun to see kids here before their prom/dance. It's really for everyone here. We ALWAYS order breakfast here - it's consistently great! I love their pancakes and their hash. Before we leave, we always get a few things to-go. The most recent trip we were lucky enough to snag their famous dinner rolls. So good for the holidays...or in our case...Sunday LOL We are a fan of their cookies as well. The pumpkin chip ones are our favorites. If you don't see something, you can ask, as they might have more in the back. Always a great time when we are up North a few times a year.

Last night was our anniversary celebration. Could not have been more enjoyable. Service was excellent. Our server was a young woman who was in her first week of unsupervised service. Did not miss a beat. She had a remarkable grasp of the details of the menu, describing the seared Ahi tuna dish to a "T". During our meal the Manager checked in with us to ask if they were meeting our expectations. Nice touch. Excellent bar cocktails. Wine by the bottle as well as the glass and "jug". The bottle list is varied and pretty extensive. We had a Rombauer Chardonnay which paired perfectly with the slightly spiced menu items we ordered. Portions are substantial. Take home boxes available. Last note, the pacing of the service was totally focused on our pace. We were never rushed and between each course had a moment to relax and talk. Very, very nice.
