Then on top of that there was lots of scorpions and spiders inside the house and Cabana while we had small children running around. When I checked my bank statement she went and over charged me. I was really disappointed and when I called her she was really rude. This was our first time reserving this place and I will NOT EVER come back.

Uniquely beautiful and comfortable, Longhorn Guest Cabin has everything from dueling fireplaces on either end of the great hall, to sumptuous bedrooms with windows on either END of the beds... open behind the headboard to the interior space (with privacy blinds if needed) and at the footboard looking out over acres of luscious Texas cattle pasture... complete with wandering Longhorns just as gentle as they are (impressively) huge!... Kitchen is marvelous, as are the two bathrooms. Owners Debbie and Don Davis have spared no expense in up-dating this former hunter's cabin to accommodate the most discerning travelers and their cohort of adult family and friends. So many adventures to pursue around this 1800 acre property, but the cabin itself if hard to leave once you settle in to its intoxicating ambiance of age-old tradition and modern convenience. Did I mention the lovely pollinator garden or the spacious front porch from which you can watch the winged world of birds and insects float around just waiting to star in your telephoto lens masterpiece? There's no hunting on the property, so it's safe to hike or mountain bike the miles of trails crisscrossing land where the cattle (not buffalo) quietly roam. Quiet, by the way is the prevailing mood as the Cabin is some miles from any main road and even further from the nearest town, Tarpley, which is nonetheless charming and accessible. The property has a creek running along the property. They provide tubes if you want to just float and relax in the shade. The pool has a sun tanning ledge if you don't want to spend all your time in the shade. Each cabin has a fire pit and a s'more kit is provided. I would recommend cooking dinner at the cabin as most restaurants are only open for breakfast or lunch, but we did visit on the off season. The closest full size grocery store is in Uvalde, so plan accordingly. Also cell service on verizon doesn't work in this area, but free wifi is provided.

The owners are very knowledgeable about everything to see and do within a 100 mile radius and they are interested in making their guests as comfortable as possible. These new themed cabins (Cowboy and Harley) are located on 5 private acres, with comfortable beds, a porch for bird and deer-watching, full bathrooms and a kitchenette with dining table and flat-screen TV. Another great comfort is the wall (not window) air conditioning and heating unit. It kept us very comfortable during changing weather. The owners have thought of everything - not only are the cabins well-appointed and comfortable, but there is a large platform porch "The Sundowner Lounge", gas barbecues, a fire pit, picnic area, hammock and horseshoe toss games for anyone to use. The small town atmosphere and great shopping and eating in Bandera cannot be beat! Fabulous antiques at good prices, ecclectic shops with second-hand to upscale clothing and jewelry, and even a great quilting store - "Gone Quiltin". Wednesday night at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar, where you cook your own steaks. No need to spend any time in the city! We stayed for a week and really relaxed. The cabin was the perfect size for myself and my dog (they are pet friendly!) but would comfortably house 2 adults. There is a nice kitchenette and bathroom with all the amenities you would need and then some! Stacey was awesome and suggested some of the local restaurants down the road and she was not wrong about how great the pizza at Dough Joe's is! She is a new owner of the property so she is working to make the cabin's her own--which happens to be super cute and country-chic! Bandera is a cute small town with lots of downtown activity, especially on Saturday. There is a nice park along the Medina river that has some great scenery, wildlife, and picnic tables, however the park closes a little early so check times before you go! There are some great places to hike nearby, as well. I took my dog to the Hill Country State Natural Area and they had plenty of easy-difficult hikes depending on what you're looking for. Definitely will be staying here again if I need a getaway to the Hill Country!

Beautiful cabins / bungalows, the owners and staff onsite were very nice, friendly and helpful…read more The restaurant onsite is nice, decent food, good wine/prosecco list, friendly staff ... when we had questions about anything, owners, staff were quick to respond and it was only 2 blocks away from Main Street, Fredricksburg.... * Only recommendations: would recommend about putting a couple air fresheners (i.e. plug-ins, etc), in some spaces... to help with the old wood smell, some areas gave a strong moldy smell, which is normal for old wood. I understand that the cabins are old, and authentic but it would help a little. I would also recommend a little better dusting, around window sills, and windows/curtains, a fair amount of dust that came off, every time we closed the blinds or pulled the curtains. That is the only reason I rated it a 4 instead of 5.
