WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! TIM IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE & LEAD US INTO A DANGEROUS CONSTRUCTION ZONE…read moreWITH HIGH WATER & STRONG CURRENTS! This should be negative stars. My aunt booked a trip for a river float for my cousin's birthday. There were about 10 of us. The guide, Tim, was completely incompetent, rude, & overall just creepy with the things he said. He kept singing songs about smoking in the morning and getting drunk at night. He also told us an inappropriate story about how he found a guy "jerking off in a crawl space". Aside from the inappropriate comments/ stories, there were multiple signs telling us to exit the river because there was a construction zone ahead. We asked Tim multiple times if we should be getting out soon because the signs were telling us to. He ignored all of us and just kept us floating. We passed by 3 warning signs telling us to get out of the river and we were seeing other people floating get out where the signs were. Then there was one last sign saying "Emergency River Exit Here" and people hanging out by the right side of the river telling us "get out now!" But Tim still just says nothing. Luckily, a random girl hanging out by the water decides to try to stop our group so we can try to get out safely before entering the construction zone but then she got swept away with the current & 4 others in our group and she almost drowned. We told Tim, "this girl is drowning & she needs help!" and he said, "well she's not apart of our group so she's not our problem" as she was visibly almost drowning and literally gasping for help. Luckily, she was able to grab onto my brother's tube and they held onto a branch for at least 10 minutes. One of the group members who successfully got out before the construction zone threw down a life jacket for the girl but she and my brother were still stuck on the opposite side of the river against a concrete wall IN THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHERE WE WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE. Me, my husband and my dad got swept further down into the construction zone and then finally, at the last minute, Tim says, "get out now!!" as we're already in a complete danger zone. So we all try to get off to the left side of the river as fast as we can to get out. His exit strategy was to grab onto a rock or branch as quick as we could so we didn't go into the rapids and diverted river area. Luckily, we all got out in time but we were literally in an enclosed fenced/ locked construction zone and had to pry ourselves through the fenced area to get out. We had to walk back to the office and tried to talk to Tim & get a refund and he says, "I don't have any money. I'm a terrible person and I want to die. I should just kill myself." (Which is a great thing you want to hear from your "tour guide"). We were also supposed to get a "lunch and drinks" after our float. We were given warm beers in a bag, NO LUNCH and left alone outside on the patio. We walked out of the office after Tim was being suicidal and crazy & he eventually locked himself in the office so we weren't able to talk to him anymore. We were stuck outside wondering how we're going to get back to our hotel because there was no one outside to give us any information. We HAD TO PAY TO GET AN UBER BACK TO OUR HOTEL because Tim would not communicate with us. We also talked to the owner, Jim and he called us liars and didn't believe any of this happened. Can't make this stuff up. Craziest experience I've ever had with any type of "tour guide". During the float, Tim also called a girl in our group "retarded" because she fell off her tube and had a hard time getting back on through the rapids. He was also yelling at her for falling off and said "you shouldn't have let go!" DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR OR ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY!! YOU CAN EASILY (& FREELY/ MORE SAFELY) FLOAT THIS RIVER ON YOUR OWN!!! Save yourself the money and headache. WE DID NOT GET REFUNDED EVEN AFTER HAVING TO CLIMB OUT OF A CONSTRUCTION ZONE!!!! The most unprofessional and UNSAFE experience! Here is a link to a video that shows the construction area Tim lead us into: https://www.rgj.com/videos/news/2025/06/06/the-truckee-river-is-diverted-as-construction-continues-on-the-arlington-avenue-bridge-project/84079962007/ In the video they say, "One of the things we are encouraging the public to be aware of is; as the river is currently diverted, the south side of this channel is going to be HIGHER and FASTER. So we are telling people NOT to use the river recreationally in that time because of the SPEED and DEPTH." Attached are some photos from the video link that show the exact location we floated past into the construction area and shows the "EMERGENCY RIVER EXIT" sign that Tim floated us past!!

Run far, far away! I…read morerented a KTM 890 from Nevada Adventure Rentals for a three day trip with some friends. We were clear that we weren't just cruising highways and would be doing some off-road riding. That was fine with them, these are adventure bikes after all. Well we ran into unexpected heavy rain, took a couple falls, and the bikes suffered some minor damage which we were bummed about but were willing to repair (broken mirror, clutch lever, dented hard panniers). I returned the bike, and they sent it to the shop to be fixed up. Two weeks later I was called and told they had just "discovered" something else wrong with the sub frame. Okay I thought, I didn't notice anything myself, but it's not a hard part to replace, how bad could it be? For the next two months, Barry, the apparently now behind-the-scenes owner let the bike sit in the shop with no follow up to me. I called and emailed a number times and it was clear they were in no hurry to get it back. They never knew the status of the bike and said they'd go check. The next thing I heard was a letter from the owner threatening to charge me nearly $16,000, including $12,000 for "loss of use" for every single day the bike was in the shop. That's right, he threatened to charge nearly double the value of the entire bike. When I responded that I was happy to pay for reasonable loss of use but that this seemed excessive, he didn't even respond himself, but had his lawyer send a demand letter explaining that under Nevada law "loss of use" does not have to be based on "notions of fairness, actual rental demand, or the resale value of the motorcycle" and that they could charge me based on whatever language they'd buried in the mountain of papers I'd signed at rental. They could literally let the bike sit in the shop for a year and charge me for 365 days "loss of use" with no recourse. Their paperwork also includes language claiming you will be responsible for legal fees regardless of the outcome of any litigation. It all seems incredibly well calculated to extort as much money as possible out of hapless renters. After this incident I went through their reviews and it's not hard to find other people with similar stories. It's clear this is a shady business built around shaking down the occasional customer to try to cash in on depreciated bikes. It's unfortunate that it's one of the only shops in Reno. Hope someone else opens an outfitter that isn't out to target and scam customers.

The booking email says to meet a Zephyr Cove Lodge 90 minutes before tour, but a text the day before moved it back by 45 minutes. Okay. I just assume we're hopping on the running bus in the parking lot, but someone comes out and says we need to check-in inside. Inside is chaotic. Do we need to get helmets here or the trailhead? Nobody seems to know. I'm thinking "ma'am this is YOUR show". A few helmets appears, then a few more. Plot twist, there's plenty at the trailhead. Then the bus driver rolls through the crowd barking to get aboard and he's leaving immediately. So we do - and without a greeting or headcount, we're off. Off to nowhere it seems. We roll through two resorts and take on zero additional passengers. How does this happen? How is scheduling so loose we're wasting time turning around at the Golden Nugget? Then we transfer to another bus. Some story about it having a more powerful motor. It look like an identical old school bus that's been fitted with new seats. It's not like we're off-roading to the trailhead, it's paved roads the whole way. Then why couldn't we just drive ourselves to the trailhead and save fussing with busses and save two hours? Anyway - once there - equipment is good, guide is good, scenery is outstanding. Just wish it wasn't such a hassle to get there.

Decided to give this place a second chance after the disaster that happened during the new year…read morewhere they cancelled our snowmobile tour right as we got to the second location and then we get into an accident on the bus while we're leaving. Their online management is still an absolute disaster, but the team onsite was actually very helpful this time. We booked a snowmobile tour for 9 am and woke up bright and early to make it to our 7:45 am/7:50 am shuttle pick up time. (The website says 7:45 am, while the email says 7:50 am.) We're there by 7:40 because the bus stop is right next to our hotel, and we wait 30 minutes just for no one to come pick us up. The instructions for the stop are extremely vague because there's two bus stops in the location across the street from each other, and we didn't know which one we're supposed to be at. However, it didn't matter because no one stopped to pick us up anyway. After waiting the 30 minutes, we decide to drive to their location. I couldn't find an address on their website or the email that was provided, so we looked them up on maps and it took us to the location we had been to at the beginning of the year. Turns out they weren't there anymore, and they moved to Zephyr Cove, 30 minutes away from their old location! It was already 9 am, our booking time, so I call the phone number listed on the email, and the person who answered was absolutely useless. They told us they didn't know what to tell us because they were offsite, and they called their onsite team who said that there were no bus issues (a lie, which we found out onsite). They didn't offer to reschedule us, and instead told us that this situation would fall under their cancellation policy, meaning that they wouldn't be able to refund us? Charlie (the person I was speaking to) recommended that we contact their corporate office, and when I asked to be transferred, they said I had to email them?? $1000 to book, and you don't have an actual corporate number to resolve issues immediately when people are trying to enjoy their vacation? I had to be the one to ask if we could drive to their onsite location, which turned out to be the best idea. We drove to Zephyr Cove, extremely confused because there was no signage up for Lake Tahoe Adventures, but someone outside directed us to the inside of Zephyr Cove Resort where they're now situated. The lady we spoke to there was EXTREMELY helpful and basically saved our trip. She apologized, gave us a refund immediately with no issues (last time we had to contact their corporate number to get a refund even though they cancelled because of weather), and offered us free tickets for their cruise or tubing. We're super grateful to her and the onsite team! We found out the whole perfect bus schedule was a lie though, as there was another group there who had the same issue as us where the bus didn't pick them up for their trip. We were told that it was their open weekend and that there was a lot of miscommunication going on, so I don't understand why whoever we spoke to on the phone was so disconnected from the situation or why they were completely unhelpful.

That is why having Jason and a dealer like Western Sky's a true good luck charm. We brought our tailer in to have my furnace serviced. I am incredibly thankful to Western Sky's, and to Jason for showing us how to check our hitches integrity frequently & adding this to our safety check list. No adventure is worth having unless you arrive safely and ALIVE! Thank you again Western Sky's for having Jason there for all of us. Sincerely, Brick and Cindy Anderson P.S.
