I got Keratin done by Emily because Vinny my usual wasn't available, and I am soooo pleased with the job she did on it!!! She flat ironed it so well. To be clear, the hairdresser has to be careful to shape the flat iron right or the bangs and sides just hang like wet noodles. Emily did my bangs and crown perfectly so that it is flat but has lift and isn't straight but flat. Listen IYKYK. And if you do, you know then this is BIG! I came in on a Wednesday night in distress after leaving another stylists chair who told me it would be "insanely expensive" and a "lengthy process" to remove black dye, she was talking months-years, I didn't want that. I was told that the best course of action then would to be to let my hair grow out (I had 3 different colors in my hair, couldn't do that). I stopped at V Capelli for a fresh set of eyes and a new opinion. Mid panic attack, I was welcomed with open arms by Vinny & Michelle & they immediately started brainstorming. Bouncing ideas off of each other, they believed it was possible to lift the black & get my whole head an overall brown. After doing a test strand, Michelle was able to get me in at 9:30 the next morning (literally like 14 hours later!!) because it was my birthday & she knew how much it meant to me. The next morning I came in & Michelle, Vinny & everyone at the salon who lent a helping hand were able to successfully transform my hair. They restored my confidence & boosted my morale on my birthday & I couldn't have asked for anything more. I haven't been to V Capelli in probably about 10 years & it's so nice to see nothing has changed (in a good way). From the front desk personnel, to my hair wash & blow dry, to even Vinny coming to help Michelle between his clients, I couldn't have asked for a better experience with a nicer group of people. V Capelli Salon, 12 Terhune St. Oakland NJ 07436 EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Would not recommend. I have never once return to a salon because I was unhappy. I tried V Capelli Salon in Oakland, NJ because of what was supposed to be a Mother's Day surprise. Here are the results as of today. 2 Keratin treatments (one paid @$300 and the other was Michael at the salon attempt to try to fix). Keratin treatments, specifically the one I request contains Formaldehyde (at least that is what I was told it contains), although there is much controversy (you can google), It doesn't matter, It's my choice and my money. "I specifically" opted for this product; as I've had it two times prior in my life and my hair was like PURE silk, less drying time, straight, amazing to say the least. After much research on high end salons that I was told carry this product, I chose to go to V Capelli Salon. Big Mistake! I also got my hair touched up, and I asked for 1/2 head of thick, chunky blonde highlights that show contrast without brassy color. Instead, I got 1/2 head of thin highlights that no one even noticed and my hair cut still displays what appear to be ratty dead ends. I decided after the amount they charge plus a very generous tip, I wanted to be happy. So, I called and Danielle was nice enough to squeeze me in, and Michael put a few chunky highlights in. 2ndtime leaving this salon extremely unhappy. Place is very nice and very clean. The employees are all very nice and welcoming. The only thing I will say is don't get a haircut from Michelle. This has happened to me and another person I know but she cuts off way to much both times time. She'll say she'll cut off an inch or two but will end up being 3 or 4. Not crazy but hair length can mean a lot to people. Besides that she is very sweet! read more

Tried this place for the first time last week. They accommodated me by taking my last minute decision appointment which was nice. When I arrived the receptionist was warm and friendly. My appointment was made with a wonderful girl named Amanda, who was very sweet. I showed her a few pictures and said that was the style I was looking for. I love this salon! After moving around and visiting a number of different places I was greatly relieved to find this salon. They are friendly, professional and always take good care of me. I love that they have such a personal touch here and always remember my name and what services I usually get. I'm always greeted with cheerful smiles and a cup of coffee (couldn't ask for more!).A lot of salons seems to have a high turnover rate but I always see the same people here, which is comforting. I see Victoria who I followed from another salon. I see her for color, cut, extensions and blowouts. Rarely do you find someone who is great at everything but she truly is! I was nervous to try a new salon after moving from Central Jersey. One disappointing experience had left me feeling even more hesitant about choosing a stylist. After calling V Capelli, the lovely Danielle made an appointment for me to have a consultation with Vinnie, the owner. I didn't feel like coming in ahead of time for a consultation, but once I had, it set my mind at ease. Vinnie really took his time going over what I wanted and discussing my options with me. Through talking with him, I knew immediately that I was in good hands. My husband was with me the day of my consultation, and he and Danielle were chatting away, then Vinnie came out and met him as we left. Such graciousness goes a long way with me, as some salons are full of pretentious, unfriendly people. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get in with Vinnie, but it was so worth it! We just returned from V Capelli Salon after getting our 6 years old son's hair done. We went by appointment, didn't wait more then 2 min., our stylist was Michael and he did a tremendous job! We've been looking for the place to do our son's hair for the past four years and tried a lot in our area, including some special kid's places - and always my wife would have to redo half of it to make the cut tolerable - and all of this after paying at list 20$ + tips! Today was the first time when we answered few question for Michael and voila! Great modern and EVEN boy's haircut for 15$ (and 50% off for first time). LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I have to tell you I'm always surprised when I read ANY review calling anyone names! The balls and the bravado that occurs when one sits behind a computer and hurls insults is not only disgusting and revolting...it's childish. It sounds like "Lynn; from Haledon" really needs to frequent SUPERCUTS. In fact "Lynn- from Haledon" I'm sure if you click on their website you can print out as many coupons as you want. I've been going to V Capelli since they've opened their doors in 2008 however, I've been going to the manager who you've called a "buffoon" for over 8 years and she's an incredibly knowledgeable, talented, artistic and most importantly a compassionate human being. I've NEVER seen her insult any of the patrons or clients that have walked in there and sat in her chair or anyone else's chair. I'm sure your attitude and anger towards her was very demeaning and disparaging to say the least. In over the 8 years, I've recommended dozens of moms, daughter's, dads and children to go to V Capelli to have their hair done and there was NEVER a single complaint, only a grateful "Thank you". The entire staff and management at V Capelli are not only artistic and creative; they're true professionals, eager to please their clients. I will continue to go to V Capelli and refer anyone there with complete confidence and assurance that the staff will do an incredible job. However; thank you "Lynn -from Haledon" for giving us a lecture on hair glaze and toner. It sounds like you have an abundance amount of time on your hands to do the research. I just had my hair colored at V Capelli Salon. Victoria was absolutely amazing!! I'm always leery about getting my hair colored by someone new but I needed a change. She carefully spent over 2 hours on my hair, coloring strands individually to make it al blend and look natural. She was so pleasant the entire time while laboring on my flat, over-colored hair. Not an easy task for her! She did exactly what I wanted and with expert precision. When she blew out and styled my hair, I was ecstatic! I felt 10 years younger and LOVED what she did with the color. So last second I needed a blow out. I called this salon and they didn't have anything open during the time I needed. But less then 5 minutes later they called me back saying they had an opening! *I am using my husband's Yelp account* I am VERY picky when it comes to the health and style of my hair. i went to several salons in town and stopped my search for a great stylist when I met Cara in October 2016. Originally I went looking for someone to do weekly blowouts but after a couple months and a lot of discussion about my hair, I felt I wanted to try Cara for a cut and color. She did the most beautiful baby lights on my hair that I've ever received and paid a lot less than I had been. I also loved the cut as well. In June, I got a Keratin treatment called Keratin Complex for the summer and wow, my coarse hair is so much easier to deal with. She's been doing my hair ever since. I discuss with Cara exactly what I want and, unlike other stylists, she actually listens. Sometimes if something isn't exactly the way I like it, she is extremely accommodating without making you feel like you are a nuisance. I like that Cara takes many classes on her days off to make sure she stays current on coloring and current trends. She is also quite personable and makes you feel comfortable. I get many compliments on my hair, whereas I NEVER did before. Again, I am very picky and it took me a while to find someone I can trust with my hair. I would definitely recommend Cara at VCapelli Salon. I would also add that Danielle at the front desk is very pleasant and customer oriented. I have been going to Vinnie for over 12 years, first at Hair Dynamics in Fort Lee, and now in Oakland. Vinnie is fantastic. In fact, I just sit in the chair and let him do whatever he wants to my hair. They use quality products, and the staff is kind and professional. Unfortunately, I am not one who will give an excellent review of this salon - quite the contrary! My experience was TERRIBLE. From onset all the way to the bitter end. I was there for 3-1/2 hours getting a single process color, full foil highlights (which took the shortest amount of time - only about 10-15 minutes), cut, and blow-out (never asked if I wanted to be blown straight, as I have curly thick hair). End result, the bill was $277.50. This is even with the 50% off coupon, which I found out that night, was ONLY for the hair cut, not for the entire service. I even called to discuss my complaint with their manager, who was an ignorant buffoon, a day later. She was loaded with insults and overstepped her boundaries a few times too many. When I asked for the break down of my service, she had the audacity to tell me I was charged $5.00 for extra color...can you believe how they "nickeled and dimed" me? I was also told by the her that toner and glaze are the same thing! She explained that my Senior Stylist gave me two treatments, each at $25.00. NEVER once was I asked if I even wanted this non-permanent process that only lasts roughly two weeks. This was a crime in itself! I get making a profit, but really...charging $50 for something that I did not even get the chance to say I wanted? Even after all this, I decided to give my Senior Stylist (who I did not ask for...just to make mention) a tip so the final total was over $300. I've been to top-notch salons in the past whereby they use the same rating system for their stylists to small salons where each stylist charges the same. Needless to say, I've NEVER, I say, NEVER been charged this price in my life and I would NEVER go back nor will I ever let a stylist put on whatever she wanted on my hair without my consent. Nor will I ever allow someone to charge for things I did not want. As the saying goes..."BUYER BEWARE"! Always get an estimate for EVERYTHING you do, including your hair! A very pricey lesson for me. But now I am even more educated, which is something I cannot say for their manager! BTW...here some education from the Internet...Hair glaze is a non-permanent color that does not penetrate the hair shaft but coats the outside of the hair and adds shine. Hair toner also coats the hair shaft, but its purpose is to change the shade of the hair. Toner can also add some shine, but its primary function is to neutralize unwanted tones such as brassiness or yellow hair read more
