So we had a party of 16 people and we were planning on coming to this location. luckily I read some of the reviews here. I called them ahead of time to see if we needed a reservation. they told us if we showed up without a reservation we would be turned away. so I tried to make a reservation and they said "no" that they were full on a day that we were hoping to come. so we did manage to make reservations for the following weekend. it's a good thing we called!!

The kind of place you smell before seeing. Flavors were creative and scrumptious. They have dairy free options and sorbet, too. One flavor on my visit was called 'Holy Cannoli', complete with chunks of ricotta. So neat! I settled on a cone of the hazelnut and sat outside pretending I was in Italy. A very friendly, clean, and upbeat gelato spot - I'll definitely be popping back in to see what new flavors are on tap!

I'm also happy to see a new business in the Oxbow! But, tho I'll give it another chance soon, I wasn't really happy with the Roman Holiday scoops. The flavors were fine and the density was similar to other gelatos, but I found it to be very sticky and gooey -- more like cake frosting than ice cream -- rather than creamy and milky. In fact there was no sense of dairy terroir at all, which is really one of the things that I look for and truly enjoy in a local ice cream or gelato. I'll give it another shot since I live around the corner. Will update here if I get a better impression.

I looked for an email address so I could share this feedback privately, but since I couldn't find one, I'm leaving it here instead. For hygiene purposes, I recommend having attendants use a tissue, napkin, or gloves when handling waffle cones rather than touching them with bare hands. During my visit, the same employee was operating the cash register while also preparing ice cream, which meant they were handling both money and food. I believe this small change would help reinforce good food-handling practices and provide customers with an even greater experience. Thank you for the wonderful ice cream and I forward to visiting again!

There was no one in the store when we visited, and no one behind us waiting so we took our time choosing. The lady working behind the counter seemed slightly exasperated with us. Regardless, we ended up picking a 9 piece box, which was $27. The subsequent times we visited, it was a different employee, who was more friendly so your experience may vary. Regardless, pretty good chocolate overall, albeit pricey, but the store feels kind of cold and sterile.

My absolute favorite is the Dang Dazy milk chocolate--its velvety texture paired with crunchy almond and hazelnut bits creates the perfect balance. The Earl Grey dark chocolate was also incredibly good. While the richness of the dark chocolate leans slightly dominant, you can still catch those subtle, fragrant notes of Earl Grey in each bite. At around $3 per bonbon, it's definitely on the pricier side--but considering the quality, creativity, and variety of flavors, I think it's completely justified. It's especially heartbreaking to share that this is widely considered one of the best artisan chocolate shops in California, and they're now closing their only store in Yountville due to slow business and rising costs. Losing a place like this feels like losing a true gem. If you're anywhere near Yountville, make the trip and show them some love while you still can.

The shop is small inside, but there's seating in the back. We got a dozen assorted macarons for $40, and each flavor was so good. Macaron Flavors We Tried (all 5/5): - Watermelon Tajín - Curry Coconut (kids least favorite but I enjoyed it) - Elote - Blueberry Cheesecake - Lavender - Salted Caramel - Passionfruit - Cookie Butter I also tried their Tiramisu Cold Brew, which I really enjoyed. They have a combination of standard flavors (think espresso, pistachio, chocolate) and unique sweet and savory options. It's a small storefront with two tables inside and some outdoor seating. The service was friendly and quick as well. We got 3 macarons to try for $10 - a lavender, watermelon tajin, and apple gorgonzola. Surprisingly the lavender was my least favorite despite us choosing it as a "safe" option - the filling was almost soapy in taste and felt slightly gritty/oily. The watermelon tajin had the flavor of a jolly rancher and also bubblegum and was very unique and interesting to try. The apple gorgonzola was likely my favorite, with the macarons have a sour apple taste and the filling being more creamy with buts of funk and umami from the gorgonzola cutting through. Overall, lots of unique fun flavors at Madeline's and I'm glad I gave it a try! I'm definitely impressed by how they were able to capture this wide variety of flavors in macaron form, and the macaron cookies themseslves are wonderful in texture.
