It really bolsters my faith in the treatment when I don't feel the MD is rushing to move onto the next patient. Ultimately I got fantastic care and I am sold, I will continue to use them and this site for medical care. I have been using VA Medical in various capacities for over forty years now and I have always had a good experience. The care I received here was incredible, from the front desk, to the nurse who took my blood pressure (Jas) and the amazing PA (Jean Marie) who took care of my botched thumb and made me laugh. I was having trouble with my insurance card and the woman at the front desk worked hard to help me figure it out (and she did!) and was so patient. Jas was a delight and put me at ease immediately. And Jean Marie was exceptional! She listened patiently to my neurotic ramblings, suggested that anytime one slices their finger with a mandolin that immediacy is necessary instead of the 24 hour wait that I took (I politely reminded her it was actually only 23 hours) and worked on my thumb so there would be proper healing. Two shots in my hand for numbing my thumb, manipulation and bandaging and a tetanus shot later, I was good to go. I admit, I was a pretty nervous and reluctant patient but everything about this center was great. Especially Jean Marie. If you are going to slice your thumb while preparing a meal (among any myriad of things that unfortunately bring you to a medical center) you will want a Jean Marie. Actually you will want THIS Jean Marie. She is the best!

It felt like I was being rushed. my concern and the reason I am writing this is that they took a swab and had it sent out, told me to "go online to see results". My problem is that not everyone is capable of doing that. Example there were other patients in there that were Amish/Mennonite whom doesn't use these technologies. And then there are the elderly who do not. I never got a phone call with my diagnosis however the next day I got a email to say I had a bill. Getting the bill before my diagnosis was a little annoying to me. I am tech savvy and was able to see my result however, it said it wasn't read by the doctor yet and not too take it for being the actual result. Not just this place, but all places medical facilities, are becoming less attached to their work. With peoples lives in their hands it's not a comfortable feeling. This issue I am bringing up can be easily fixed with increasing their communications directly to the patient in a timely manner. I hope it gets better for all of us.

But it was getting late. And gosh was I wrong! From the girls at the front desk, to the clinical staff, to Dr. Schmidt, I can honestly say I'd go back here in a heartbeat, any time (although hopefully not often!). Everyone was so warm, personable, and kind. I did not at all feel rushed and very much appreciate the fact that they each seem very passionate about their "callings", (rather than referring to "just a job".) I could tell that they care and take their time to listen and treat each patient as an individual. Dr. Schmidt went above and beyond, even sharing some extra info and hand outs regarding vitamin supplements and chatting about vaccines. Super happy with my experience here... highly recommend! We weren't sure what Highmark PCP would cover, said $15 for PCP but nothing for urgent care. Turns out it was only $15 for the urgent care as well. At the time we came there were only a couple people in the waiting room. We didn't have to wait too long. It was a a pleasant experience and we will continue to go back!

Dr Rill always takes his time with me during our appointments, answering any questions I have and is genuinely concerned with my treatment and progress. The support staff and the nurses are always friendly and helpful and also seem to take sincere interest in their patients. I've only been a patient for about a year but have talked to many people who have visited this practice for 30+ years and wouldn't trust anyone else with their medical care. I am happy to have FINALLY found a practice where I feel comfortable and cared from the moment I walk in the door until my visit is over. I highly recommend this practice. Also, their phone support is excellent as well. If I am unable to speak with someone when I call, they always return my call in a timely fashion. I have never been let down by this practice.
