Our New Favorite Winery! We visited Va Piano last week as a group of four couples and left absolutely smitten. The rolling hills feel like the Italian countryside, and the vibe is warm and unhurried from the moment you arrive. Meeting the owner and winemaker was a highlight- his passion for the vines is genuine, and his commitment to his people shows too. Learning that all his farmhands are full-time employees tells you exactly who you're dealing with, and that care flows straight through to the customer experience. The wines were beautiful- balanced, fruit-forward, great nose, and we loved both the reds and whites. The special pour of the Va Piano Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was the standout of the day. By the end of the afternoon, all four of us had signed up for the wine club. Highest possible recommendation. read more

We visited Va Piano for the first time this weekend, and we will absolutely be stopping by every time we are in the area! Stephanie and Carrie were absolutely amazing and made us feel so welcomed! We loved the stellar scenery, beautiful tasting room, and plenty of options for seating! Additionally, the wine was stellar! We all enjoyed a tasting, and ended up grabbing some glasses and then bottles to go. You really can't go wrong with any of their wine options! 4.5 overall. We three visited in July 2025; it was the 4th visit for two of us and the first for the other. Consistently good experience. AMBIANCE: 4.5. The tasting room / area lies in a bowl within vineyards, and thus one has a nice feeling of being in the countryside though without a long-distance view. The building has a rustic yellow-stone appearance with a very pleasant outside area, reinforcing the bucolic image. A friendly, restrained dog completed the picture. We had a large cheese and fruit place delivered by Palette (for the second year in a row). SERVICE: 4.0. This place gives you the Italy vibe! Made online reservations which was quick and easy. Got here sat outside as the weather as perfect and the vineyard is stunning. They have a variety of tasting from Sauvignon Blanc to Reds. They have food options which we didn't try. Sauvignon Blanc did not disappoint we purchased few bottles which waived the tasting fee. This place is dog friendly. The team here are awesome. Supper friendly and chatting with all their guest. If you looking for a nice winery for a larger group with great ambience this is the place to be. read more

This was our first stop on our Walla Walla trip and it was the most underwhelming of the wineries we went to. The winery itself has a beautiful setting and has a very rustic/country feel but unfortunately even after waiting for a while it was hard to find even two open seats at all . I got the Sangria as was highly recommended by others and my husband got a Red. I thoroughly enjoyed my Sangria and it was just the thing one needs on a hot scorching day . His wine however was not that great and ended up being discarded. The live music was a fun addition and we saw patrons dancing and enjoying themselves which added to the vibe . read more

Va Piano Vineyards was a nice stop during our Walla Walla wine weekend. We were able to get a late afternoon reservation, which was nice, as we had a covered, patio seating area for the four of us. This place was pretty popular, so I highly recommend making reservations, if that's not already required. In fact, you should make reservations because we saw that in order to get into Va Piano Vineyards, you must get the access code to open the gates to the entrance. All of us did a flight tasting, which was solid. We also shared a charcuterie plate, a much-needed snack, comprised of cheeses, crackers, meats, pickles, marcona almonds and apricots. Just be careful when you get the charcuterie plate because the resident dog loves to sneak by tables that order food, and he will sneak around anyone to grab a bite, which we witnessed! Love how dog-friendly this place is though. Va Piano Vineyards was a great experience. The outdoor seating area is right next to their vineyards, so definitely try to snag a seat there. But you'll have a good time here with their solid selection of wines (particularly the syrahs), snacks and the winery dog that's here for your food and snuggles! read more

Nice chill place to sit back and enjoy some wine. My group lounged on couches by the front door and from time to time a couple of dogs would come in asking to play fetch (they actually greeted us as our car pulled in). The wine is decent, but pricey. That they waive the tasting fee with a purchase helps justify the bottle purchase. Pretty picturesque spot that we would might have better appreciated had it not been such a crisp cold day. Nonetheless, it's worth checking out! read more

On a day filled with great wineries this one was a stand out. The grounds were lovely but alas we didn't get to spend much time out there as it had started to rain. It was nice and cozy inside with two very friendly dogs who occasionally stopped by during our tasting for a little rub on their head. We started this tasting with a really lovely Burgundian style Chardonnay. It is so far my favorite Chardonnay that I have had in Walla Walla area. We also had an outstanding rosé that I really enjoyed and brought home with us. My friend was so pleased with their wines that she ended up joining their club membership. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and the wines were delicious. Definitely recommend. read more

The tasting room was beautiful but felt a little under construction. There were boxes and a back room opened to show a bunch of mattresses. That took a bit away from the ambiance. There were two tasting options, one for $15 and one for $25. We went with the cheaper one. The sauvignon blanc was really good, and I'm not always a white wine drinker. Fifth time visiting and I've had a different experience each time with different groups. The Syrah and Merlot are wonderful, others are okay. Environment is great as you feel like you are drinking at someone's home with a beautiful vineyard view. However, felt like the winemaker was more concerned with introducing himself to other tables around us or tables with private tours and came off stand offish at best when we asked a question. The groups around us were rather pretentious and being a local to Walla I know this isn't the vibe our city gives off. Thumbs down for that. We had a lovely afternoon wine tasting out on the lawn at Va Piano. The tasting was generous and we even were offered an extra pour of a bottle not on the menu. We just tasted at our leisure and went back in to get our next pour when we were ready. The outdoor space was calm, shaded and surrounded by vineyards which was a dream. We got a bottle to take home (waiving a tasting fee). The only thing that would have improved our experience is a small snack or cheese plate to enjoy with our wine. read more

We went to Va Piano Vineyards in Walla Walla on a visit from Spokane, WA. We visit Walla Walla very frequently and are Wine connoisseur and "Collectors" we frequent the new location in Spokane at the Davenport, as well as the tasting room at the Vineyard. We liked the wine and decided to stop by, taste and possibly by more for our collection. As wine club members at other local wineries, we have debated about becoming one here as well. This trip, we had a very bad experience. We brought our beautiful 1 and a half year old with us, as it has never been a problem at Saviah, Zerba, or anywhere else in the area when we make quick stops for wine purchases to bring home. The staff was very rude to us from the moment we walked in. The young girl with brown, frizzy hair glared at us and our daughter throughout the time we waited to be served. The young man who helped us was short and rude when I asked about tasting notes. First, I had forgotten that Va Piano doesn't offer tasting notes, But not only did he not tell me that, but he quickly just said it was whatever I wanted it to be. After all of the other customers had stepped out and they were able to serve us at the counter, the girl told us to take our daughter outside and they would serve out there because she was so loud, in a very rude and condescending tone. I did mind that because it was very, very hot outside that day. close to 100, and as a customer who has purchased many bottles of wine from Va Piano, I was livid as was the rest of our party. We walked out. I have referred others to this winery but will no longer be doing so. The service was horrendous and the attitude of the girl from the moment we walked in was completely uncalled for. She told me that they treated the tasting room like a "restaurant." Well, I take my daughter to restaurants all over the country, lots of ine dining places, and have never encountered an experience like that. Ever. We will not be back. read more

What can I say about Va Piano except it was my favorite winery on our weekend trip to Walla Walla. We had heard great things about this winery at the Seattle wine show and also found out the wine maker is from our alma mater so we had to check it out. The winery had a great indoor tasting area and also some outdoor seating as well. We tried both of their tastings (the original-$5 tasting and the reserve wine-$15 tasting). It was wonderful to be able try their full range of wines. The reds were big (which we loved) and we really liked the Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and the De Brul Cabernet Sauvignon so we got both bottles. The De Brul Cabernet Sauvignon was part of their black label and it was probably one of the best wines I have had in a long time. I loved this place so much I already signed up for their newsletters and am hoping they will be over in the Seattle area again for an upcoming wine show. This is definitely a must try/stop while in Walla Walla. read more

I can highly recommend this winery for the beautiful scenery, lovely and fun atmosphere, outstanding wines, fantastic customer service and super down-to-earth owner. Emma and the other young ladies were absolutely wonderful and a pleasure to talk with. I sincerely enjoyed their company. Justin's vibe really is one of the "chief relaxation officer," and he seemed like someone you'd like to get to know better...really cool to be around. His puppy, Murphy is absolutely adorable and a joy to watch. The wines were impressive and the tasting fees were worth every penny. The grounds are stunning, and so enjoyable, especially when the weather is good. I commend Justin for everything that he has created, and it was a pleasure to witness such a classy and visually beautiful winery without the pretentious vibes. My boyfriend and I were sent here when we were visiting Walla Walla by someone who told us that, if we loved big syrahs, this was where to go. Well, it was lovely, but it wasn't the sort of knock-your-socks off red that we were promised. The setting is beautiful, but the decor felt just a bit cliche, wannabe Tuscan for me. I guess I prefer wineries that invest in where they are, rather than trying to project an Italian or French feel. Still, the wine was very good, and the people were lovely. Over thanksgiving weekend, my wife and I travelled to Walla Walla to immerse ourselves in wine country and visited 10 wineries. Va Piano made the top of our list. We both thoroughly enjoy touring wineries, but for varying reasons. My wife appreciates the ambience the most; externally Va Piano provides an idyllic setting amongst the vineyards, Inside the tasting room is warm and inviting, well decorated and filled with items for purchase or for browsing. I enjoy sampling the best red wines each place has to offer, and on this account Va Piano also delivers. The red Cabernet Sauvignon were full bodied and smooth. We both enjoy savoring the bouquet. All in all Va Piano provides the complete package my wife and I seek for great wine tasting experience. read more
