After living in Walla Walla for over a year, I'm embarrassed to say I have not enjoyed everything the valley has to offer. The first most embarrassing is never going to Woodward Canyon. Short story: it did not disappoint. My favorite was the GSM (SMG?) pictured. So flavorful. The tasting had 5 reds - whites on the way in may - with 2 bonus pours. I will be bringing my visiting friends here in the summer. Buy a bottle of Chardonnay, a bottle of Syrah (or their stellar cab franc) and enjoy a picnic on the lawn. It's a bit of a hike out of town for Main Street Walla Walla, but it is worth the drive. As a heads up, the seating inside in the tasting room is a tad unconventional - a table, a few chairs, and a bar area - but it makes it more intimate.

This is a very pleasant winery tasting room to visit on the road into Walla Walla. You can taste indoors and outdoors, and all of their wines had fresh, clean, varietal flavors. We preferred the higher end reds.

We visited Woodward Canyon Winery, which was a busy place to visit on Saturday. The building is a house, and was used as the headmaster's house back in the day next to the school, which is now L'Ecole 41. The tasting included two whites and three reds. I'm not a white wine fan, so didn't much like those; however, the red wines were good here. Of the wines we tried I really enjoyed the 2016 cabernet sauvignon, which is nearly $100 a bottle! It is definitely one to try. Woodward Canyon Winery's tasting room, which is the front area of the house. It's on the smaller side, so it did get cramped with the many people visiting when we were there. There's some seating, but would recommend sitting out on the front porch. The staff did a great job at bringing wines out to those not standing at the bar area for tasting, which was really nice. I would recommend visiting Woodward Canyon Winery during your Walla Walla adventure.

    Pond near winery. So pretty.

Awesome wines and very friendly people. Will come back!! Loved it. Would highly recommend to anyone passing by. They were awesome and knew their wines well.

Lovely place to bring a picnic and enjoy spectacular wine.

A lovely oasis with some of the most noteworthy wines in Walla Walla. One of the early planters in the county, you can tell the expertise with a wide selection of varietals. My wife and I were made to feel very welcome by Terry, who was willing and able to answer questions as well as provide guidance to Walla Walla newbies. One of the best reserve Cabernets in the area. We can't wait to go back...

Woodward Canyon Winery was a quaint tasting room with a beautiful cellar and delicious wine. Variety of reasonably priced bottles with some cool history. Couple whites and small handful of reds on tasting menu at the time we went. Definitely walked away with a case and some knowledge of their almost 40 years of existence. Really enjoyed the cellar tour and their label choices of historic Walla Walla/ Lowden founders on vintages as well as beautiful art work on this millenniums bottles. Thank you for making our experience wonderful Michelle and Terry. Ps: go here first for your vouchers to the next couple wineries

When we travel back home to the Lewiston/Clarkston Valley we always stop and enjoy wine tastings and enjoying a glass outside on their beautiful landscape with beautiful flowers. Great service and a very pet friendly place. #woodwardcanyonwinery

This place is easy to miss off the highway. We had passed other wineries on the way, but the cute little house up front caught my eye. They were offering a white flight and a classic flight. If you go with the classic, they will refund you $5 with bottle purchase. I went with the classic and they were all great and went down smoothly. They also have a restaurant open for the lunch hour offering small plates with local produce. The sommelier was nice to talk to and very friendly. She told us they have events from time to time. I would so hit this place up if I lived here.

Old vine cab! From 1970's vines, these guys have been in the game from the start!

Stopped here after L'Ecole but it was this winery's accolades that brought us in! It was so refreshing to meet such nice staff and their pours are generous enough that you actually get to taste their wine! We loved the artist series, but we were most impressed by their old vine cab, this quality and value is impossible to come by!

Great atmosphere for relaxed tasting. We could sit down, instead of having to stand.

I arrived slightly early in the day when the place was still empty -- expected for a weekday -- and was warmly greeted by him. He asked where we'd like to sit and promptly began the tasting. It was an absolute delight. In the short time I spent there, I learned more about wine than I have in my entire life. Eric was incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful in how he explained everything -- it all just clicked. My husband did a white flight, and I did a red, and together we were able to sample a generous range from their collection. We left with a bottle of Poet's Leap, which we're excited to open soon. The vineyard itself is beautifully set, and while it's a bit of a drive, it's more than worth it. The interiors feature stunning glasswork and have a chic, modern feel -- including the facilities . Long Shadows is now firmly on my list of must-visits and will be at the top of my recommendations for anyone heading to Walla Walla.

Three elements contribute to the experience: the wine, the ambiance, and the people (staff). The quality of the staff has dropped considerably. WINE: 4.0. Long Shadows wines are consistently and solidly satisfying. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Nice facility set in wheatfields, with attractive south-facing views. Inside and outside seating. SERVICE: 2.0. The quality of the college student summer staff we encountered during our Jul 2025 visit was considerably lower than in past years, deeply undermining the entire experience. They appeared to dislike both their work and their customers. Superficiously nice when we arrived, but then becoming defensive and scowly. Moreover, as I was waiting outside for my partners, the outdoor staff were grumbling among themselves about the day's various customers, and about the need to clean up before leaving work.
