Visited here on a recent trip to Boston. The location is nice. Seating is a bit limited but I ordered takeout so it wasn't a big deal. I ordered the samosa chaat since I was missing home. It was good! Not astounding but not bad. For the price could have been a bit better but I understand all restaurants have raised their prices recently. Visited Vaanga 2times during my trip to Boston. 1st visit on 27th June 2023 and 2nd visit on July 3 2023 27th visit- excellent visit. Good food. Welcoming staff. Especially liked the chapati and Kadai paneer very soft. The fried rice was also good. Guntur mirchi bomb was average. July 3 2023- ordered Dabba dal, pav bhaji and Paneer massage initially. I made a special request to have dabba dal to be very mild for the kids but it turned out to be very spicy. Even wife couldn't eat it. People at front desk were rude and didn't acknowledge their mistake. Paneer was average. Pav bhaji was very good. Ambiance on July 3 was crowded. The same guy who cleaned the table went back and started preparing food. The people who were preparing the food were eating while they were preparing. Not clean. No public restrooms- this is needed for people with small kids. Waiters and people who work in billing should be thought basic customer service. Waited 45mins for my order along with everyone else... A full dining room of people, and nobody eating anything because the kitchen was far to slow. When I finally received my food the chicken had bones/cartilage suggesting to me that the quality is sub par overall. The staff has no idea what is going on, they just kept walking back and forth looking in empty bags (orders to be filled) as if someone might have suddenly added food to them. And when the food does become available they either didn't call the person's name, or called it so quietly noone could hear. I was sitting closest than anyone and I still couldn't hear what they were saying. I don't think food service is their forte. Never going back. read more

Over a year later Vaanga still is the absolute best place in Greater Boston for Indian food and this is no exaggeration. I'm writing this review to highlight their contributions to the healthcare community in the time of the COVID crisis. I'm a resident doctor at Tufts Medical Center and despite all the ups and downs that came with being a doctor during COVID times, one of the biggest highlights of those times was the day Vaanga/Godavari delivered all of us free lunch! The donation itself was an extremely kind and conscientious gesture, much appreciated. But that wasn't all, as always, even in a simple lunch the food was just divine, from the authentic sambar rice to the very flavorful chicken and jeera rice. It made getting through another taxing day so much easier! These guys aren't just another Indian restaurant. They really care about the community and they show it in the best possible way - by feeding frontline workers food that is totally on another level! As I write this Vaanga has an aggregate review of 3 stars which is by far not reflective of how awesome and authentic the food here is! was walking around downtown crossing and came across this restaurant that serves indian cuisine which was so yummy! i ended up getting the paneer butter masala and the sexy samosas (comes with 2)! the menu is very big so there's a lot to choose from. it's a little shop but i went in the afternoon and it wasn't very full. the cashier and cooks are very friendly and it's a great place to get some work done. i'll be back to try more food, and their mango lassi! :) read more

I would say this is the worst restaurant out there in Boston. Ordered from Grubhub as an office lunch and they messed up the order completely. And when you try calling them, they don't even pick up. Almost half of the order was missing and you can't even get hold of them. Grubhub was helpful in refunding but this restaurant is really bad. Overpriced menu and quality is also not that good. I would never ever order from this place again. I have heard firm my colleagues and friends that they known to mess up your order. I would recommend not to eat or order from this place. read more

It seems like the delivery driver went missing during the order and when I called the restaurant asking for help they told me that there was nothing they could do even as I persisted if they could call the driver as I wasn't being shown the drivers details. We ordered a bunch of things. Pav bhaji, spicy soda, paneer Kati roll, papdi chat and vada pav Only the vada pav was good. Nothing great, but it tasted fine and had the right ingredients The pav bhaji must have been heated twice in the microwave and was so hot we couldn't get started eating it for 15 mins. When we did, it lacked flavor. Which is what happens when you overheat something The spicy dosa was ok, but was moist instead of the crispy we had asked for. Sambar was served after heating it in the microwave. Maybe it was because we went on Sunday? The papdi chat had a lot of papdi, but not enough chutney. Cannot really even call it a chat, it was so dry in places the kati roll was edible, but barely. We finished only the vada pav This place has spent a lot of effort on decor, trying to give it a fun look. And maybe the truck and then the seats with pedals on it do succeed in doing that. But it needs to spend a whole lot more effort on the food, and service quality. It's not a cheap place, but the food is served in plastic containers and the cutlery is disposable plastic I wasted too much money on this place, will not visit again read more

Five chicken pieces - the size of literal nuggets - and 1 flimsy piece od naan for $23; this was little more than an appetizer. I saw this place on Boston Eater and was curious about this place as this seemed like a Indian fusion place. The counter service restaurant has a variety of things to try from Kati rolls and chicken tikka Marsala to Samosa Burgers. I ordered the Samosa Burger for $6.99 and it came in a little container with the fries on the top. The burger was stuffed with a Samosa, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. It was pretty bland and the fries were soggy but the reason why I'm giving this place a 3 was for the service and for the creativity in their food. I would probably order something else next time I come such as the Kati Roll which was pretty good from the bite I had from my friends dinner. read more

While I cannot vouch for any other dish they serve, Vaanga possibly has one of the best if not the best tasting Mutton Biriyani in the Boston area. I think a good yard stick to measure any South Indian NonVeg restaurant is Biriyani and judging by that, the mutton they serve is cooked to perfection, spice is the right amount and it's served piping hot. I do have concerns about the quantity of the biriyani and the high price point for it. There are places closeby which serve better curries and other rice combos.
