    Huge stain on bed spreads
    Lené C.

Heed my advice Only giving a 1 star review because it isn't possible to leave a 0 star review. DO NOT RENT HERE! Seriously, save your vacation and book somewhere, ANYWHERE, other than here. I honestly don't even know where to begin for this review. My family and I rented this place for a two night weekend getaway, after all the fees for two nights, the price came to $892, which includes a $140 cleaning fee (what a joke that is). Now, I assume that whoever rented this place prior to our arrival had to fork out that same $140 for the cleaning fee. I can guarantee this place was not cleaned up to even a low standard. The bathrooms were not clean. The sheets were not clean. There were stains on the bed spreads. The pillows smelled like sweat from whoever slept on them last, which is really gross to think about. The floors were not clean. There were dust bunnies everywhere. Under one of the beds we found a pair of sandals, under another a deodorant cap, under another an empty water bottle. Under the bathroom vanity cabinet was a used disposable mask and an empty contact lens box. In another bathroom we found an empty toilet paper roll on the floor behind the door. Both bathrooms had hairs from a previous occupant left in and around the shower. Our 7 year old son went to bed and called us upstairs to where the bunk beds were and asked "what are these?" He was pointing to two beer bottle caps that were laying on his bed. Clearly the bed sheets weren't changed or else those would have been discovered by the cleaning crew. The stains on the bed spreads were disgusting and the smell of the pillows about made us gag. I cannot fathom how a place can charge $140 for a cleaning fee when they legitimately did not clean up to anyone's low standards. Especially with COVID being as prominent as it is. This place was the biggest scam and a waste of the $892 for a two night stay. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT book here. Do not book with any place that uses Vacasa as their rental management company. On their website, they state that they have adopted AirBnB's COVID cleaning protocols. That is deceptive advertising at its finest. What a joke. This place has 7 beds, ALL of which were uncomfortable and had us waking up with aches and pains we don't normally have. The beds are lumpy, worn down, and seemingly had no structure left to them. Save your money, rent elsewhere. Motel 6 is probably a better bet.

    Ropes as handles.

We will be contacting the owners for our rental this weekend. This management is TERRIBLE. Bed is rock hard. Lights in back yard don't turn on till 7pm- but they lie, they don't work at all, the office closes at 8pm. Hot water goes in n out mostly- you'd get 2 minutes of hot water in your shower. No fence around the property. VERY steep stairs. Rope for railings. The drier doesn't work, no dry clothes after you've been out in the snow. The light bulbs are "broken" in backyard. Zero privacy. Bright headlights from your backyard neighbors starting at 5pm till sunrise. Did not shovel the snow for outdoor fire pit. Stairs are broken getting into the hot tub. They blame everything on "big bear rules." Do not rent any property on Airbnb under this management for winter in Big Bear.

Dirty towels and bed sheets in an unclean home when we showed up to our rental home.

We booked two nights at Hawk's Landing and showed up to the house where it had obviously been occupied by previous guests. There were dirty towels in the bath tub, dirty sheets, empty soap bottles and unmade beds. We contacted Vacasa and they apologized and placed us in another rental home after dealing with them on the phone for 4 hours.... We showed up to Mount Doble Escape and that home has dirty towels, dishes in the dishwasher, no trash bags and dirty bed sheets. It was already 9 pm so we took it upon ourselves to wash the linens and towels and just give up working with Vacasa. We are still waiting to hear back from them on how this can be rectified. There hasn't been any substantial compensation for this, whether it be a full refund or an extra night in a clean rental. For this reason, we will not be using Vacasa again for our vacation. Update: We've gone to the local office here in Big Bear twice where no one was present and called the number provided and still haven't received any help.

My review of the cabin was not posted on their website. See pictures below of our cabin that we thought was a great place based on the reviews they posted. 45 degrees inside there was no heat because the old wall heater was not on and the pilot was off. Trash outside full and problem with no help we were told by agents. Luckily we were able to get a motel room at Motel six and because we had our two dogs most everything was booked because it was late and a holiday. I highly recommend booking with Destination Big Bear who we have booked with for over 15 years and are reliable. Even VRBO could not help us and they charged us an extra fee because Vacasa listed through their site. A horrible expérience.

bed bugs... I wish I had taken more photos...

We recently booked 1342 Yellowstone Drive, Lake Arrowhead, CA through Vacasa rentals. This was a girls' trip that was planned for months and we were looking forward to spending it together. Unfortunately, it became a nightmare. The house was somewhat new and well maintained (so we thought). It had four bedrooms and six beds. When we woke up on Sunday morning, one of our friends noticed something moving in her bed. Upon closer look, we noticed bed bugs all over her bed. We called the management company and without hesitation, they said they would either refund the money or move us to another location. Since we only noticed the bed bugs in one room, and had already unpacked, we decided to stay for the rest of the weekend. While we were out of the house, they came, sprayed the bed, and asked us not to use that room. They also left the spray behind. Sunday night when one of our friends decided to go to bed, she said she saw a dead bug on her headboard. When we sprayed around the beds in that room, the bed bugs started coming out of the beds. We were so disgusted that we do not remember how we packed and left the place. We drove in the middle of the night to get home and left everything outside to ensure we did not bring the bugs inside. I am sure the management company was aware of the situation; otherwise, they would not agree so quickly to refund the money or move us elsewhere. In addition, why would they give us a choice to move? They should have never rented the house in the first place, or given us a choice to move. They should have moved us immediately.

Rodents droppings on the kitchen countertop

This company is a complete rip-off. I was forced to move out of one of it's rental property in idyllwild California shortly after check in due to the extremely inhabitable conditions. The property was heavily infested with rodents, the drops were all over i.e. the bathroom cabinet, the desk corner and the worst, the kitchen countertop. The rodent activities were so severe we even heard the noise from the bedroom roof during the day! What is worse, the refrigerator was not working and the maintenance did not bother to fix it. After hours of waiting and talking to several agents who kept kicking us around, Vacassa eventually refused to relocate us and force us to move out with no refund.

    RIPPED SOFA CHAIR

I would have given the staff at Vacasa ZERO stars if I could. It is extremely difficult to A. get through to customer service, B. get a return call from anyone when we left a message, C. for them to take action on items that needed immediate attention (like the broken heater). Each phone call averaged 45 minutes. Long Hold times and the only solution provided by staff was for ME to go to Kmart and purchase clean linens because all 4 beds in the cabin had filthy blankets, pillows and sheets. If you want service, and them to offer solutions to problems that they know exist, DO NOT BOOK WITH VACASA.

I originally wanted this to be a review of a home I stayed at using Vacasa because the home itself was very unsafe and there were multiple falls that occurred while we were there. To be clear this is for the house referred to as Arrowhead Dream in California. Nice house on the outside, but there were certainly dangers present. Initially I just wanted to get their acknowledgement that these issues would be fixed, but four months later, Vacasa still refuses to put in my review so now my review is also about Vacasa not giving a damn about their clients as long as you pay the money. While we stayed at the home, there were multiple things broken or unavailable due to locked doors that had been advertised and my kids were greatly looking forward to. Vacasa never came and fixed anything and they generally just do not seem to care about your safety. I will never again use this company, and I strongly urge anyone who wants to keep their family safe away from them. Here is my original message to Vacassa which goes into further details, but I did not get much of a response. Hello, I want to make sure your team is aware of a couple of incidents that occurred during my family's recent stay at the property located at 163 Fairview in Lake Arrowhead California during August 14th-18th. I am not a lawyer, but I do believe the issues I have listed here begin to show a pattern of negligence by the parties who are responsible for managing and renting this property. 1) On the first day of my arriving on the property, we were naturally looking around. There is a pathway that leads down from the house to the golf course. I went down the path making sure to use the handrail all the way down as I am not familiar with the property nor the condition of the path. As I got to the bottom of the path, the handrail came undone because the pipe that is the portion you grab is not long enough to stay within its posts. I did not fall, but I almost did start a tumble down the rest of the grade because the staircase does not go all the way down. Someone is going to get seriously hurt here at some point. 2) On the first night my 9 year old 50lb daughter was sitting in a bar stool. She was not rocking or using the stool in any manner other than sitting there. Unfortunately, the upper portion of the barstool was poorly secured by two bolts even though the stool has slots for four bolts. The upper portion of the stool came undone and my daughter fell back and landed on her neck, head, and back. After confirming she was relatively okay, I examined the chair and found 2 of the four bolts were missing and a 3rd one was laying on the floor because it had come out most likely due to some looseness. 3) On the second evening, my 80-year-old father discovered that one of the game table's chairs was very unstable and honestly has no business being in a house because it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I have some video of me sitting in the chair and demonstrating how unsafe the chair is. I can pretty much guarantee that a person who sits down in that chair and leans back too quickly will topple over. Fortunately, none of us was injured because we pushed the chair to the side. 4) So the big issue we had was my 80 year old dad falling hard when he miss-stepped going from the staircase area to the living room. This occurred Monday evening. Our whole family was there playing a game and he came in and missed that step due to the lighting and shades of the carpet being close to the wood floor. He fell forward, and landed on his knee, arm, and his forward momentum was stopped when his lower jaw went right into a chair. He is convinced that only his teeth implants prevented him from breaking his jaw. Within five minutes, his knee had swollen to the size of a cantaloupe. It has been a week since that happened, but he is still reporting abrasions within his mouth, soreness in his jaw, swelling and discomfort in his knee, his arm is still giving him trouble, and a significant portion of his leg is still purple due to the fall. We are anticipating a response from you on this, so please get back to me. I would also like to add that I am disappointed in the lack of response from the management and maintenance team up there because my family really wanted to play that video game system. I also do not think it is appropriate to advertise a sauna in the property via pictures, and then allow the owner to modify the pictures by removing the ones of the sauna and then lock that door. That was not cool because that was yet another thing that we were looking forward to using. I did not enjoy this stay nearly as much as some of the other ones I have had through your organization, and considering this stay cost more than twice what I have paid in the past, this will impact my use of you company in the future.

Anyone know if there are cancellation circumstances due to COVID with Vacasa? Can't get a solid answer from their customer service reps. They keep saying 30 days prior to check in to cancel for refund. What if we catch covid within those 30 days?

Hi Marc. Here is a link to our standard cancellation policy https://www.vacasa.com/support/worry-free-change-cancellation-policy#terms. We also offer trip insurance that may cover Covid with a doctor's note.

It was such a sweet and unexpected touch that immediately made us feel at home. It truly set the tone for our stay, and we genuinely appreciated the kindness and thoughtfulness behind such a warm welcome. This Destination Big Bear GRAND SWISS CHALET ESTATE was absolutely incredible! From the grand patio and entrance and beautiful wood beams, to the luxurious bathrooms and thoughtful modern details, no expense was spared. It felt more like a private five-star resort than an VBRO. The first floor featured a gorgeous kitchen with two islands and two sinks, ice maker, huge Thermador oven/stove, large fridge, spacious dining and living areas, a theatre room, and beautiful views from the kitchen of the towering green trees and fresh scent of the forest the minute you step from the kitchen, out to the backyard. The outdoor patio, the tranquil view, the grassy area and the beauty of the mountains became the heart of our family gatherings. The second floor had four modern beautifully decorated spacious king bedrooms, with warm and inviting amenities in every room. Each came with luxurious private bathrooms featuring marble walk-in showers and freestanding soaking tubs, wood beams throughout, fancy faucets and hardware. Everything felt exceptionally high-end. The third floor was a fantastic entertainment space with shuffleboard, card table, TV media area, bar space, refrigerator, ice maker, sink, and plenty of room to gather. Two additional queen bedrooms included a twin bunk in one. Perfect of the young adults and teens. Each floor featured spacious balconies overlooking either the grand drive-up entrance and breathtaking landscape of the trees that surrounded us, or the peaceful backyard, where hiking trails stretched beyond and curious squirrels would venture into view. What made this stay so special was having enough room for everyone to cook, laugh, play, relax, watch movies, and simply enjoy being together. We never felt the need to go anywhere--the estate itself was truly the experience. Perfect bonding time with family. On the wildlife issue: Whether it was rodent or bat droppings isn't the point -- either way, it's a health and safety hazard, and that's what my review addressed. On timing, we were told cleaning was signed off around 3:40-3:50 PM and we weren't given access to the unit until nearly 4:00 PM. By the host's own timeline, that leaves only a 10-20 minute window for this to have happened after cleaning -- or the unit wasn't properly cleaned to begin with. Either way, it should have been caught before a family with small children moved in. As for the house rules disclosing general wildlife possibility in Big Bear: a blanket disclosure doesn't excuse an active, uncleaned health hazard in the room our kids were about to sleep in. On "solution after solution": When we first called the property's staff, we were told there was no reported active issue at the unit -- no remediation or transfer was offered at that point. It was only after we contacted Airbnb support directly that a possible move to another property came up, and by then we chose to stay with family instead rather than lose more time getting our kids settled. To be clear, we never requested compensation, a discount, or anything beyond the refund for the booking we could no longer stay at and the playpen deposit. The mention of a future discount, and later a free stay at the owner's personal cabin, were both raised unprompted by her staff and the owner -- I only followed up to ask about the discount after her team had already brought it up, and we ultimately declined the cabin offer. On the Venmo/deposit point: This wasn't in my original review because it wasn't relevant to it; the owner raised it. For accuracy: we received both the Airbnb refund and the playpen deposit refund in full. The mismatch was in urgency -- the deposit was requested and paid promptly to get our kids settled, but getting it returned took three follow-up messages over a full day before it was processed that night. On the unannounced visit: While I was upstairs on the phone with Airbnb support trying to resolve this, the host sent an unfamiliar man to the property without confirming who was there or where. My wife and our two young children were downstairs. Regardless of exact positioning, having a stranger show up unannounced during an active safety complaint is not okay. On the personal outreach: We heard nothing from the owner personally until after this review was posted. At that point, she called, left a lengthy voicemail, and sent numerous long texts to my personal phone. Some of what was shared in that contact was inappropriate and unrelated to the situation, and I won't detail it here out of respect for her privacy -- but the manner and timing of it were unprofessional. Our original review reflected an accurate, factual account of what happened. We stand by it and won't be engaging further in the comments.

Snuggle Bear Cabin...there are only positive things I can say about this deeply wonderful and…read morerelaxing cabin. What I noticed about the location of this cabin was that it was further away from the heavy tourist areas but close enough to grocery stores, restaurants and shops. So if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect getaway from the everyday stresses of life. This cabin includes a living room with a cute fireplace, a small but full kitchen with a eating area, full bathroom (water pressure is good and it heats up pretty quickly), a bedroom with a closet, access to the backyard, a front porch and a cozy loft with a flatscreen TV that I didn't touch once. I was primarily there solo to detox from the busy life of Los Angeles and not to ski since I was there beginning of May. Snuggle Bear Cabin had everything I needed to detox. I laid out my yoga mat and meditation pillow upstairs in the loft and it had an inviting view of tall trees out the window. It was a perfect environment to reflect on life, letting all creative juices flow, read and write. The solitude was exceptionally welcome. The final full day that I was there, my boyfriend came up to join me. And really...all we did was snuggle. I highly recommend this beautiful cabin for anyone to deeply relax and enjoy the natural wonders of Big Bear. Thank you, Melia, for his wonderful experience.

We stayed at Edgewood Mansion for my 40th birthday during New Years Eve. My husband planned the…read moretrip to include my closest girlfriends and their families. From the beginning to the end we had the best experience. The mansion has so much history, is perfect to accommodate multiple families with en suites, huge kitchen, many places to relax, and plenty to do. We had kids from ages 4 to 10. We thought we would run out of things for them to do. Not at all. The mansion is so huge, they had plenty of room to stretch out, the hills on the property provided for fun sledding and snowman building. The adults were either at the sauna, jacuzzi, kitchen, outside in the snow walking the 2 acres of property or just relaxing in one of the many comfy nooks. I highly recommend Edgewood Mansion for any type of event whether it's a birthday trip, family reunion, corporate retreat or any other purpose where you want to feel like you're at home, or provided for like a Queen. The location which is located higher up in the mountains is away from the traffic. The accommodations are immaculate and the concierge services provided by Chantal who was available to us 24/7 before we got there and during, was spot on. We catered instead of cooking which was so much easier on everyone so we could enjoy each other's company versus cooking. Chantal gave us choices and she had Mexican food delivered one night, Italian catered another and on New Years Eve we had a personal chef, Mike who is a master chef create the most delicious surf and turf dinner. We had piles of Alaskan king crab legs and the freshest, tastiest filet. Everything was provided. This was an amazing trip because of where we stayed, the owner Laura who was so accommodating and Chantal who was so helpful. Our friends have not stopped thanking us for coordinating this trip. We all got to spend time together with the kids together and not feeling overwhelmed because everything was at our fingertips. Thank you to Laura, Chantal, Irvin and the maintenance crew, Sherri our housekeeper and the magical Edgewood Mansion.

Laura, the owner, does a fantastic job of welcoming you, walking you through the sometimes labyrinthine maze of rooms, and welcoming you to a piece of history. As we travelled during Covid19, the property felt safe, clean and secure and we had no concerns about our health or safety. Highly recommend for people hosting special gatherings, parties, family vacations or special events. Definitely worth it.

5 Kern's Cabin (Kabin on confirmation): The showers did not work correctly, the fixtures are…read morebroken and the water was scolding hot or freezing cold, not to mention plumbed the wrong way so hot is really cold and cold is really hot. This is super dangerous and luckily my youngest daughter did not get burned. There is no reason to allow your water heater to pump out scolding hot water, that is a simple adjustment. Fan in the bathroom is broken upstairs so to get air flow from a shower, you need to open the window which is in direct view of the neighbors living space. How the cleaning service does not notice this is confusing. The towels in the bathrooms are literally rags, all mixed matched, some with holes and super thin. Just a bit odd when you need 4 towels to dry off. The kitchen did not have a decent quality or array of items needed. The dishwasher had a rubber band holding the utensil tray on. The fireplace/living room was why we choose this location so that was as expected. The lingering Christmas decorations were a bit odd but with the overall quality of the property, it makes me think the property is just not either rented often or maintained. And last but not least, while we stayed for 2 nights, keep in mind we were out and about all day, a critter chewed all the wiring in our engine. It definitely was at this cabin since our engine light went on when we were departing on our last day. We assumed it was a faulty sensor since my car is new but as it turns out, $1,067 later, something ate through our engine while it was parked at the unit. And, that $1,067 may not fix it. If it doesn't work, the dealership told me they would need to replace this entire section. I did not bother to ask how much that was going to be. There are signs all over reminding you to not feed critters and you can not use their city issued trash receptacles. They want you to take the trash with you to this local dump which for this cabin, was in a convenient location. Not a big deal they want you to take the trash, but I am assuming the critter issue is a much bigger problem. We also opted to have the trip insurance just in case of weather. Although they cover a wide array of random things, the one thing they have listed as being not covered is.......VERMIN. I notified the management and they responded with a we will look into it. Does anyone else notice there are only 5 star reviews on their Big Bear Cabin website? Good thing we have other options on google & yelp to make a review!

I would never stay with this company again. I rented through Air Bnb. First off, the only reason i…read moreleave this review is to warn fellow renters. Take pictures of the cabin when you arrive and when you leave. The condition of the cabin was OK and i had no major issues during my stay. My problems started two days after i got home. I received a request from the booking agent for $500! The message read: 'Thank you for taking care of the deck repair. Michelle' I responded immediately asking what had happened and that i was unaware of any issues while renting. I feel like this type of communication was rude and absolutely presumptuous that i caused the damage. You see, i went to Big Bear when everything was covered in snow. It had been covered for the last weeks from a previous snowfall, and the snow had not melted yet. When i arrived at my cabin, it was completely covered - including the deck. We were not able to use the deck for this reason. Obviously the rental company did not shovel the snow in between renters. There was no further response from her and she escalated the issue to the AirBnb team. There was no dialogue or attempt to speak with me regarding this, which I believe would have deescalated the situation because i attached a picture clearly showing that the deck was covered in snow/ice. It did not snow while we were there - this was obviously from previous snowfall. The damage pictures she sent looked like a burn marks on the deck. Those burn mark pictures were soaked in snow melt and ice. Obviously this could not have been done by me i my picture shows the deck covered in snow. Till today, after escalating the issue the rental company has not followed up with myself or AirBnb. It is unprofessional and unnecessary to work with your customers this way. This company turned my great vacation into anxiety when i came home. I would never rent with them again. Be professional, do you diligence and don't accuse your renters of damage because you don't adequately check your properties in between rentals. -Renee
