I've never been happier with any other rental company than I have been with Cathy and the entire Vacation Boat Rentals team. We've been renting now from VBR for about 4-5 years now, and they've always been super helpful, kind and patient. You never feel like you're treated like a tourist or an annoyance which I love. They have a wide selection of boats, and like any other rental company you have pristine boats and you have boats that have seen some love over the years. Either way, I've never had any equipment issues or emergencies or anything of concern outside of a loose cleat. We've always been thoughtful and careful with their equipment, listened and adhered to the rules, took boaters safety and respectful to their property and they've all been good to us in return. Every time we're back to pickup a boat, we spend 10 minutes getting paper work and before we can finish saying hi to Cathy's cute lil weenie dog and the staff is telling us the boat is ready. All the positive reviews are true! I rented the 27' Sea Fox 226 Commander for 22 days.....yes....22 days. The boat was perfect for our needs (fishing, diving, snorkeling, sand bar, etc....). More importantly, Kathy and her team were so accommodating and knowledgeable. She even gave me a partial refund when we chose to dry dock the boat for a few days due to a Hurricane Elsa. read more

Rented the 25ft sunchaser pontoon boat for 5 days in the beginning of January 2018. Customer service was excellent! A gentleman showed us how to work all the features on it. Very kind and helpful. He showed us numerous spots that were great for snorkeling, fishing and restaurants on the water to eat at. Plus he let us use four fishing poles for free. The pontoon boat was was in great condition! The only complaint I had was only the one speaker was working in the front of the boat. Still could hear the music anchored up and at slow speeds. But overall was a great experience with the business. I will definitely be returning on my next vacation to rent a boat! read more

This has to be the most disrespectful and rudest rental company i have ever been to. I visit the keys more than 15 times a year and every time my family, friends and i go we do something different.We either rent jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards, boats or just hotels to go and relax. We never have an issue, until we rented from this company!! Most of the workers are rude and delay the time you leave from the dock which cost you extra money. And when you try to explain why you make it 20 Minutes late the manager does not want to hear your excuses and just charges you more money. I go on vacation to enjoy myself and be happy i dont expect to get attitude or have a company and its management ruin my vacation.I will never come back to this rental company not even if i was offered a free rental! read more

Rented the 22 foot deck boat and it was in terrible shape. The pictures on web site must be 20 years old. The seat cushions were all tore up and therefore the foam inside stayed wet. The front ladder was not attached to the boat. There was a large 12 inch gash in the left side of the boat. The fuel gage was not accurate. The boat was dirty. Manager very rude! Do not put your boat in here. Even though website says open til 5pm they close at 3pm on Fridays so they can pull rentals up. When i asked about stating that on his site the Manager got very upset and said its his private ramp and he can do what he wants. 100% advise to avoid him altogether and just use the public ramp just across the main road. read more

We rented a 21 ft boat for a week in December &!the boat broke down on day 3 so we were given another which we limped around in because the T-top bolts on the port side were all stripped so if we went too fast it would clang & threaten to rip off! But we had fun puttering around & when we came to turn it in, they told us to fill it up and leave it at the marina which we did. 29 hours later we got a phone call saying we hadn't filled it up and they were charging us for $20 gallons of gas which is almost $200! Needless to say we were dismayed since we know we had filled it up, we are boaters andand know when the gas tank registers full and is Full! I believe is a bait and switch scheme as they call people after they're already done with their vacation to tell them they're charging the credit card more money for adding more gas. Jamie who works there told us that he didn't think we knew how to fill the gas tank and we were 20 gallon short. Since no one was there to check us out & we trusted it would all be fine we feel we were really naive & they easily take advantage of people. We've sent a complaint to the better business bureau, perhaps others have done so as well. read more

We had a group recently use 3 boats from Vacation Boat rentals. All 3 boats needed service while they were out and two needed multiple service calls. The help on the phone was combative and lacking in courteous customer service. In particular, on one service call the person on the phone insisted the live well aerator had an intake screen on it when I was looking at it and saw it did not. He also insisted the pump was replaced on the first service call when it in fact was not - the service tech just used the old pump which was failing. The next service tech that came out apologized and was courteous and replaced the pump with apologies that the last tech simply put the bad one on again. Using Vacation Boat Rentals cost us time on the water and dealing with the person in the office was disappointing at best. read more

Terrible experience with this company. This is our 7th trip to the keys and I have never encountered such rude and terrible customer service. We rented a deck boat and discovered it had cockroaches in it and was in very poor condition. When I asked what options we had I was told they only had one other boat which was a smaller center console. I asked if the boat had cushions for the kids and was rudely told that I get what I see. I was then pressured to choose which boat I wanted within a few minutes. When I called a friend who lived in the area I was actually yelled at by the employee for calling the competition. Did I mention my kids witnessed all of this as well? Bottom line, this company was not able to provide a clean acceptable boat and was exceedingly rude and disrespectful. There are plenty of other options in the area, don't waste your money. Captain Pip's was wonderful to do business with. read more
