So it was nice to come back and relive the past. Small resort, even smaller today because a few chairs were closed. Plus, due to all the events, I believe there were 800+ people here today. And with this snowless season, the skiing was marginal... Skied a half day from 9am to 1pm; I quit when the snow got too wet. I was actually impressed that the snow held up so long on this beautiful hot day. Ambiance - So many activities today. See above. The parking and trams are easy; the value is exceptional; the views from even the novice slopes can't be beat; the lodge food is solid; and the staff/instructors are top notch. The rentals were super streamlined and the lifts/runs well-maintained. If you are experienced, I can see it being too small of a resort, but for newbies and casual snow enthusiasts, it is perfect. Gotta be careful toward the top because some of it is soo loose and so deep that you get stuck like you're on the beach. Overall, still was pretty freaking sweet, especially for being free... can't beat that. Wife and I went on E bikes so the climb was really no problem, we ended up going up four times, and even took the trail all the way to Tamarack lake, which was super fun. There's lots of different options for terrain and size, some of which is a little nutty... I just wish when we went the lodge was open! Maybe it has special hours or it's only open certain days, not sure I would love to find out. If I find out, I'll update my review!

A free lift ticket provided by Yelp was enough to lure me out for closing day. With the miserable season, they were closing super early, with only one run open from the top and a mix of runs open from the smaller lifts. Looking around though, you could see the potential for the mountain, with lots of fun looking small runs scattered throughout. Definitely not trying to compete with the likes of Squaw and Northstar, it's a local mountain, and you could totally tell that from the conversations and folks that were around. The Dummy Downhill is their end of season celebration, where teams make dummys that are then launched off a ramp, akin to the Red Bull Flugtag. I had to leave early since I had stuff to do, but the community aspect was rad - lots of dummys from the school, local groups, etc, and while I was sitting on the deck waiting for events to begin, it seemed like everyone knew everybody else. For the half dozen or so dummies I saw, it was clear that everyone was having a good time, cheering at spectacular crashes, raving for those that made it all the way to the retaining wall, etc.

Typically, Day of Event planners can cost thousands and this is a special, and crucial perk that is included in the cost of the wedding. We had been worried about the lack of snow, but the area that Pacific Crest goes to is north facing so even with only 10 ish new inches in the past week, we had beautiful soft snow for all of our runs. Keegan and Kendall, were excellent at giving guidance to the less experienced skiers on where to ski a run and also for the more experienced skiers to ski a more challenging line. Anatoly drove us comfortably wherever we were supposed to be going. We had a fantastic day and will definitely go again with Pacific Crest.
