I visit Tahoe often since i moved back to southern CA and Hauserman are the first rental group i look to when i am booking a place. I also appreciate their emails notifying me of deals. Their staff is kind and helpful and i have had nothing but good experiences with the locations i have rented. I hate to see the negative feedback on some of the other reviews, but as a former Tahoe local, i am not surprised by some of the complaints and exaggerated comments. Tahoe has an economy that relies heavily on tourism and most people are very respectful of the locals, the housing, and the environment, but sadly there are always a few that are not. As renters and visitors to such a beautiful and fragile place, it saddens me to see people letting their dogs poop on people's carpets or complain about rules and cleaning fees (which i know are clearly stated from my experience with Hauserman). These are often the people who do the same outside in the forest and at the lake and lack respect for surrounding people and areas just because they happen to be on vacation. As a child, we rented out our vacation home in Tahoe City and I remember guests damaging things like board games or decor (and luckily not anything more severe like doors or carpet). Guests need to remember that they although they are paying for an experience, they are staying in people's homes and in one of the most beautiful environments on earth and hopefully they can be respectful of that.

Here are the facts of what happened to me when I tried to rent a house from Hauserman: ⁃I found a rental property that was suitable for my group, filled out the booking form, signed the rental agreement, and paid the initial payment. ⁃Weeks later, I got an email that said my rental had been canceled, with no indication as to why. ⁃I had to call them and ask what happened. They stated that the owner had decided they wanted to stay there that weekend, so they simply canceled my stay, despite the signed rental agreement. ⁃They were unhelpful in finding an alternative location, offering only another one of their properties that had less bedrooms and a worse location. ⁃I tried to work with them and asked to be transferred to other properties in their portfolio that were suitable for our group and more equivalent to our original rental, but they refused to allow us to transfer to one of those unless I paid the difference, despite Hauserman being the one that canceled our original rental. Just be aware that Hauserman can and will cancel your rental at any point and then basically tell you to pound sand.

On the weekend we went up to tahoe (president's day weekend) there were huge traffic jams going up to tahoe, so i had called Tahoe Management Co letting them know i was going to be late. I was reassured that it was going to be okay and that someone will be there to give me the keys to the house no matter how late i was going to arrive... I was stuck in traffic for 10 hours so i did not arrive in Tahoe until 11:30 pm. With my phone running out of battery, gps dead, and two upset kids in the car we were NOT happy campers when we arrived at the office. What do we find at the office when we arrived? A EMPTY AND DARK OFFICE. WTF. On one of the doors it had a note about calling a number for after hours service. So with the limited amount of cell phone battery power we had left we called the number so we can get the code for the door to get to the key. .. it freaking took 25 minutes for them to answer the phone. WTF!!!!! By 15 minutes of calling i was ready to freaking take the nearest chunk of ice and bust that door open! What kind of after hour emergency service line takes freaking 25 minutes to answer?!?! When we arrived at the house, everything looked okay at first sight. But the sofa couch (which was suppose to sleep two) was janky, broken (the hinge completely fell off and was lopsided), and did not come with sheets and blankets. One thing i did not get about this house was, why is it that they can provide us with 30 pillows (no lie, one of the cabinets in the rooms had 15 pillows stuffed inside the drawers) but not enough blankets? There were questionable stains on some of the bedsheets and comforters (and quite frankly i did not want to know what the stains were. they were highly questionable!! The heater in the house works, but the only real place that gets any of the heat is the bathrooms. Once you turn it on, the bathroom heater will blow hot area on at full blast, but the rooms will only blow on low medium setting. WTF? After two hours of trying to figure out the heater system.. we gave up. The fully stocked kitchen with pots and pans they claimed they provided came with one mini frying pan (for cooking up individually sized scramble eggs) and one small pot (barely enough to even cook one box of pasta with the Teflon all scratched off on the bottom of the pot. They gave us five rolls of toilet paper for 11 people for 3 days. When we went to the office to get a new tank of propane fuel (which they didn't even deliever to us, we had to go and get it) the lady at the made a snotty face and said "that's something we should've brought when you first arrived!" ummm EXCUSE ME? we were suppose to bring our own toilet paper to a freaking cabin that we rented out ? Do you bring your own toilet paper to hotels? i think not! Granted she did give us another two more rolls but that comment really struck me in the wrong way! I would stay away from them if possible. There's plenty of other reputable rental companies out there where you can rent from. PLUS there ghetto bathroom sinks are NOT ATTACHED TO THE WALL!! my damn mac makeup brush fell thru the cracks and i have no way of getting to it.. freaking they owe me a freaking $32 makeup brush!

On a positive note, the hot tub on the deck was a big plus! The management company did send someone out to fix the sinks on day two. The DSL/WiFi issue was never addressed, even after two calls to the management company. Not good as this was a big reason for choosing this unit. Oh, the management company did suggest Burger King down the street for free WiFi. Make sure the issues identified above have been resolved before booking 221 Clubhouse with this management company.

I was in dire need of people who could do more, get the job done, and communicate with me and let me know they hear me when I communicate with them. Finding Vacation rental assistance was a complete miracle for me. Not only are they on top of the cleaning, (and all linens are provided by them and taken off sight for professional laundering) but many smaller maintenance issues as well and making sure the hot tub is cleaned and serviced between every set of guests. Their pricing is extremely fair, and I believe they earn it by keeping me informed of anything needed so I'm consistently receiving 5 star reviews from my guests. Which results in more bookings! I get pictures of any issues noticed after a guest leaves, which takes away a lot of stress! When they heard my beloved dog died, I even received flowers and a card. That's special. The professionalism via pre and post inspection reports, and ability to have a 24 hour on call handy man if you choose really makes owning a vacation rental much less stressful. Thanks to VRA I'm able to focus on my own healing and do more of giving back to my community. They are so desperate to censor negative reviews because their entire customer base is Bay Area people no one here will work with them. I PAID their commission and I SIGNED their agreements. That constitutes working together in CONTRACT LAW. That they represented a buyer has nothing to do with the fact that we worked together. They also have not responded once to the emails on their agent Matt Smith breaching the realtor code of conduct, being unethical and directly lying. Article 1 of their realtor code of conduct is to be HONEST with all parties, whether representing a buyer or seller. They also don't know that censoring honest reviews is actually illegal and enforceable with the FTC. They were paid on the sale of MY home because I accepted their offer and I want to share my story so you don't make the same mistake. 24 hours after acceptance we were advised to delay our sale due to an unforseen 84k tax liability. We learned fast they didn't care about a win win, our family, their clients, only when they would be paid. True character is shown during times of trial. I wouldn't wish these liars on my worst enemy. They involved their lawyer immediately (see attached email) to threaten us to keep a bad deal going! They made negative statements about our financial situation with others copied, lied in legal documentation and gave us no notice that their clients couldn't close after we were forced to move with an infant in four days. Their behavior cost their clients tens of thousands of dollars in penalties because they couldn't close on time. They also used unethical tactics to try to get information from my contractors and lawyer, who told me everything. It was awesome after forcing us through a bad contract they had to turn around and plead for goodwill and flexibility (see attached letter) their clients had to pay us $10k to keep the deal going because they broke the contract. That's the ONLY reason this escrow closed. Instant legal karma my lawyer called it. Look, they are STILL lying in their response and no response to the actual facts and I've posted emails and documentation of all my account. Do business with good honest people. Team Blair really are dishonest, unethical, exploitative, selfish - despicable in the current times. Don't worry Team Blair, I won't be bullied or censored by a group like you. People should know how you do business. Beware Tahoe!
