This place gets a bit of a bad rap...at least based on what I've read vs. what I experienced. We stayed in building 9, in what I think was unit 2 (A and B). It was not perfect, but 4 of us stayed comfortably and we easily could have hosted 4 others although maybe less comfortably. Check-in and service we received were great. We called twice before coming, one call was better (a middle aged male I think) and one was less than optimistic (younger female) but the person did seem to warn us that they would try to get is to our unit by the 4pm check in time. Honestly, I don't fault someone setting expectations correctly so I didn't hold this against them-I prefer truth and by being a little concerned maybe that made me pleasantly surprised when they were prepared to let us in before 4pm (but we did arrive later than we would have had the lady not warned us). Also noteworthy - every conversation we had with guest services were very pleasant and there was ALWAYS someone or multiple people at the desk. This was in early to mid May just to give you context. The unit itself was well appointed if a little tired in some places (couch was a bit dated as were some of the dinning room chairs) but the kitch and baths seemed good, save low water pressure and hot water taking a bit to come up as someone else mentioned. Heating unit was good, never tried the A/C. All the locks, cable/TV, stoves, etc. worked flawlessly (minus a crack in a carafe that must have been there prior to our arrival), we were even able to hook up a streaming stick in one of the units (not the other because of the model of the TV) which helped us enjoy the unit a lot in the evenings. The Pool and Jacuzzi were fantastic. The temp of the Jacuzzi was warm-like it should be-so I do recommend either getting out as advised after 20-30 mins or going into the pool to cool off a bit before going back. I'm sure the timing of our visit was key but our party used the facilities several times before anyone else were using them-I wouldn't expect this but we tried to go at dinner time to have some time to ourselves and we got lucky every time...and that worked well as we are late eaters. The location we are use to because we have stayed down the road at the now closed Bentley Brook (which we loved) and love the location of the resort in Hancock. Due note, for almost anything you have a 15-30 minute drive to Pittsfield, Williamstown, etc. on the East Side of the mountain the place is nesteld or Stephenstown and New Lebanon to the West/Southwest. We have stayed in the Berkshires a lot over the years and really like this quiet area. We tend to take road trips on nice weather days and have been virtually every direction in a circe about 1.5 hours. Other than the obvious close towns of Williamstown, North Adams, Pittsfield, Lenox and New Lebanon (which has a few close decent/good restauants) we recommend day trips to Albany, Great Barrington, Bennington VT and Hudson/Catskill NY. Saratoga and Lake George are a little farther and would require a long day but are doable from there if you are ambitious. Def would stay here again in a few years...but we have been to the Berkshires in most seasons and are good on it now for a bit. Hope this helps someone make the decision. read more

It's the worst hotel we have experienced. The room has jacuzzi but the hot water is running out with only 1/3 of tub filled. We can't even use the regular hot shower the rest of night. The bedroom is very cold the whole night and we had to sleep near the fireplace in the living room. The worst thing is the front desk personnel didn't even apologize for such a bad maintenance and suggested I should just wait for hot water and wait for hot air. read more

The place is generally ok, except for the misleading photos. When we arrived for check in, I was told that our suite does not have a jacuzzi tub (despite the pictures showing it does) its not mentioned in the summary, but it's not mentioned in any of the rooms, so I figured it was included in all. The woman at check in informed me "that you can't go by the pictures". I'm not really sure what you go by if you can't go by the pictures, or the descriptions. They then told me it would be an additional $25 (for 1 night) to get the room we had chosen with the jacuzzi. There are a lot of hotels in the area that don't play these games. read more

We are owners and the customer service and professionalism experience is horrible.. they have no maintenance to service us as owner... we didn't get our room ready until 630pm... when we asked what's going on they stated they were short staff... we were supposed to be put in new unit and was verified twice before checking in and they gave us old units and none handicapped which we requested.....we had to be aggressive and stated we will not be staying we're we have to walk up a hill (unit 7) with my handicap father in law and sister in law...we had a refrigerator problem and they stated it was fixed and it was not... they stated we have to wait until tomorrow; we have a refrigerator full of food are you serious....we decided to take matters in our own hands and we had someone come help my grandson take the refrigerator from the unit they wanted us to put our food in to walk up and down stairs (WTH) until tomorrow ...then we ask for management and they have no one available until Tuesday (REALLY) I can't wait to see the conclusion of this mess How do you feel about this issue? read more

The staff at the front desk were amazing, so helpful and accommodating! Checkin was seamless, yay! We had a one bedroom full kitchen condo. I can't say enough about how nice it was, I'll just list here: -It was spotless -kitchen was fully stocked with all needed utensils and dishes -comfy bed -Plenty of tissues, TP, paper towels and soap. All that was missing was shampoo and conditioner. We loved the fire place and used it every night! Indoor pool looked nice, we didn't use though. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Our room could have used some maintenance as the shower door was off it's track, but overall we were pleased. The check in process was a little painful as we asked if there happened to be a room with a view... Me: Can we get a room with a view? Lady: Your room has a view of the parking lot. Is that OK? Me: Umm, is there possibly a room with a better view? Lady: Do you want me to look? Me: Umm, yes, please. Lady: Well, I can't guarantee I'll find you a room with a view. Me: OK. Lady, several minutes later: There are no rooms with a view. Had you wanted a room with a view, you should have called 24 hours in advance. Me: Ok, I'll remember that for next time. I originally had some concerns about this place due to some of the reviews but it wasn't bad at all. Pros: The place was clean and comfortable. They have a text option to contact the front desk and ask questions. They responded very quickly. They had all the basics you'll need in a kitchen. Loved the quiet and the balcony. Loved the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. I asked for a room with a view but ended up facing the trees which ended up being better due to having more privacy. Parking was convenient. Con: No elevator but luckily the buildings are only 2 floors. The room we had had no oven and the stove top didn't work. When I texted about it. I felt like they were treating me like I was an idiot. Their response - put a pot on it and turn the dial. I said I did that. They sent someone and it was discovered that someone did not plug it in. Something that's not the places fault; people are able to smoke on the balcony and u can smell it when ur window is open. If ur neighbor cooks, u can smell it, a lot. Some of the front desk staff have attitudes; refer to their wise ass response about the stove top. Overall it was a really nice stay. Only issue I had was the front desk staff. The concierge and maintenance people were very friendly and helpful. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the pool but it looked very nice. They even have outdoor grills u can use, which we didn't use but we saw several people grilling while we were there. If we can't get into Bentley Brooke, this is a nice alternative. read more

The room was very spacious, with a separate bedroom and a living room. Our rooms were very clean. The neighbors were loud as hell the second night we were there but I recognize that's not management's fault. I was unhappy there's no place to walk around the resort except on the roads -- there's a ton of pretty forest right there but apparently all the property is privately owned so you can't go into it at all. My complaint is that our bed was definitely a full-size bed, not a queen-size. I have one at home; I know what the size is. Our reservation said a queen-size. When I mentioned this at the front desk upon leaving, the clerk said with a tone I would call contemptuous, "We get that a lot. They're on the small side, but they're queensize." Well, yeah, if you define a full mattress as being a small queensize, then yeah, maybe so. Even the gf, who is not that tall, observed that the mattress was short. Not happy about that -- neither the inaccurate description nor the attitude of the clerk, like I was too stupid to know what the bed actually was. read more

Absolutely beautiful! The resort is situated on top of a hill on top of a mountain. At the peak is the check in area along with an indoor pool, jacuzzi and outdoor lounge area with beautiful views. Check in was quick and courteous. Lots of books, DVDs and an arcade is in this area. Upstairs are different rooms for a variety of functions. This area also has free coffee, hot chocolate and lemonade throughout the day. The pool was a good size and not very deep, the jacuzzi was small. There is also an outdoor pool with concession stand, bathrooms and grills. Across from the area is a volleyball court and next to the pool is a playground. There were a variety of extra activities throughout the week for children and adults. One night was a paint night for an additional fee that my fiancé and I tried out. The rooms are gorgeous, very clean and well kept. Our room had a large living/dining room with a tv and electric fire place. The kitchen was a good size as was the bathroom. The bedroom included a whirlpool tub which was heavenly after a long day hiking and exploring the area. Each room has a small balcony with a few chairs and small table. We had no problems at all with any of the accommodations except that the bed was extra soft and squishy which was uncomfortable but bearable. They offer rooms that are wheel chair accessible but please be aware the entire resort is on a mountain and there is barely any flat ground to be found around the resort. I would imagine getting around in a wheel chair or for anyone who has difficulty walking would find this area difficult. Overall our week stay was enjoyable and we would return! read more

This is the second time we came to this area this year. In the winter, we went skiing and stayed at the Wyndham Resort. This time we are staying at Vacation Village. The units at the Wyndham are much nicer and if you are coming to ski, they have in and out skiing. Vacation Village does not have that. Now that we are here in June, it is not a problem; but I would not come back here if it was a ski vacation. Check-in was easy and the ladies were very nice and helpful. There is an indoor pool right in the Reception Building. Adjacent and across the street is an outdoor pool. They also charged us a $25 resort fee that Wyndham did not charge. The outside of the units are unremarkable, but inside they are very nice. We had a one bedroom deluxe which had a fireplace. They did not have fireplaces at the Wyndham. Parking here is better than the Wyndham. It's right outside your building. At the Wyndham you have to walk a distance. The kitchen is very well equipped. The bathroom has a juccuzi bath tub as well as a shower. I am excited about our stay here. Already the weather here is better than summer in our Florida home! Vacation village is a nice retreat from the city The rooms have everything you need although not quite up to par with the Wyndham. They have a movie room on the 2nd floor of reception, however they don't offer popcorn most nights, unlike the Wyndham which had it every night. There are fresh towels at the pool ‍ which is a nice touch. Indoor and outdoor swimming is available. There are some events like ice cream social and plenty of grills to use. read more

Ms. Suzanne found staff to be cold and uncaring. I know Hyatt, Hilton, and Wyndham. Only Mr. Jerry, Ms. Mackenzie, and one or two others even spoke to us. I kept asking a male at desk to be connect me to a manager...Steve did not connect me. Had a horrible first room/ insects. Staff is new/ so unfriendly/cold. We had the most awful experience at this resort. We came to celebrate our daughter's birthday, she loved this resort. We came late, and bathroom wasn't working. The maintanance wasn't be able to fix that, so they upgraded our room(which is good), however, they forced us to clean dishes to avoid additional charges. In the upgraded room dish washer did not work, the door lock was broken, they tried to fix it, but it didn't work out, we locked ourselves twice outside of the room, which lead to burn our birthday dinner. When I complained to the manager, Ms. Robins, she agreed to reimburse us for the inconvenience, but instead she initiated urgent check out, and promised to send money back. Pros: Great clean place, tastefully decorated. Pool & grounds were well maintained. Activities for kids( arts & crafts, bingo) adults (water aerobics, yoga) family (movies). It's right across from Jiminy Peak. Cons: front desk women were NASTY & RUDE! In person & on the phone with any question we had. We witnessed others being treated nasty as well. They were horrible!!!! This is a family vacation spot & visitors have questions. They werent helpful. Make sure NOT to ask any questions about Jiminy Peak they will snap! Also rooms were not insulated well. We could hear everything & everyone above us, next to us & below us. As we couldn't reply to the owners comment I'm replying. On a new thread. There were at least 3 other families that were complaining about the unclean conditions of the rooms. Your response about the boil water situation was a deflection of our poor review. It was 504 a We arrived on the 10th and we were supposed to leave on the 17th however we decided on the 15th to cut our losses and leave. The other thing I didn't mention was the big burner on the stove didn't work and the grime in one of the bathroom sinks made it clear there was no cleaning only wiping The other sink was clogged. And the laundry room smelled like cat urine and there was body hair all over the washer and dryer three days in a row. read more

This resort offered a much needed vacation during these stressful times. The suite was spacious and clean. The pool was nice and not overcrowded. We got to use the fire pit by the lobby at night. There were some unusual smells in the hallways leading to our room, the WiFi was slow, and no one seemed to be enforcing the mask policy. Rooms were rather nice. Hot tub was not working. We had 2 condos with full kitchen. They were very comfortable. What was not disclosed is summer months the fireplace in room is turned off. The Internet and direct TV were terrible. So at night when it was time to relax, neither worked most nights and cell reception is really limited or not available. Gaming was closed due to covid. So far limited dining options in the area unless you drive 15-20 min. The charcoal grills were convenient but they are centrally locates so during Covid we avoided the grills. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking stuff. This really is the place if you just want to be left alone. The leaving comment is the whole property is on a hill so parking is on a steep hill and unsure ground. Be careful for those with disabilities. The staff was excellent. read more

Sorry RCI, you lose a star because of Linda...here's why: After driving almost 4 hours from NY in traffic, we were tired, exhausted and just looking for some hospitality. No WOW factor needed, just someone to say "Welcome to Vacation Village, let me check you in." No- we got Linda. We came up to her and she didn't say hello or anything, she just looked at us. It was my husband that had to say- we're checking in, please. She looked at us again. We were lost like why is this lady just looking at us. Normally there's a cue to let us know what the representative needs. My husband had to say- do you need our name? She threw sarcasm and said "Yeah I'll need that to check you in, what else would I need?" and scoffed. WTH. You should just tell us, I can't mind read. Secondly, she started laughing as she was clicking. My husband had to ask her what was funny. She said "it says here your dog is overweight." My husband was concerned and he said- is she over the weight (limit)? Because I called before reserving and they said she was okay. She laughed and said- No she's fine but it's funny how they wrote it here saying she's an overweight dog. Our limit is 25 lbs. You're okay with your overweight sausage dog. I just think dogs around 25 lbs aren't real dogs. I have a real dog- a golden retriever who is 150 lbs. THAT'S a real dog! Linda---just shut up. She better thank the lord that my husband was handling the conversation because I was over it. I was going to ask to speak to the manager. First off- I don't have a sausage dog and educate yourself, Linda- the breed is called dachshund. They are not food. I have a german shepard- beagle mix and per her vet, she is of average weight. Her stomach isn't drooping to the floor as you may think. Second off- Any dog...be it 5 lbs, 10 lbs, whatever lbs is a real dog. Unless the creature is made out of cotton or plastic, then you have a stuffed animal or a figure. It's an insult to say that little dogs are not real to you. Please keep your opinions to yourself. Linda was overall sarcastic, rude and the opposite of the word hospitable. I've had better experience going to a BURGER KING or even a MCDONALD'S. Linda should really consider a career change as this is obviously not her calling. My second experience with Linda was when we were asking to borrow grilling tools. She had asked my husband for what unit he was in. We had rented two units so he said she could list it under either A or B as it didn't matter. She said "Well, I don't like that. I'm going to put it down as BOTH." Okay...slow your roll. It's not that serious. She was so unpleasant that my husband had to check if she was there or not because he was worried I'd ask to speak to the manager. Also RCI, the other experience I didn't appreciate is being stopped by your staff and his entire family in the driving cart. We just got out of the car and were meeting up with my sister at the park and the staff member yelled from out of his cart telling me to make sure I check in my dog or else I will be fined. Of course I am going to check in my dog, I just did not need to be stopped and have someone assume I am going to sneak in my dog into the room. Just please- next time just greet me and asked me if I know where to check in everyone. Okay, now that I'm done with the negative parts, here are the positive: -Clean rooms, clean linen -Free wifi with password -Sleeper sofabeds -Good amount of towels -Nice amount of space per unit -TV/Cable--although Animal planet for some reason was a bit shaky -Good amount of DVDs to pick from -Nice amount of activities throughout the week -Indoor and outdoor pool -Grills by the outdoor and indoor pool -Swings, basketball court and playground by outdoor pool -Free laundry machines and detergent is 75 cents in case you need -Doggie bags in case you need -Nice trail by Building 1 and 2 Places to go to when you're at the resort: -Whitney's Farm (like a 10 min drive away) has a small petting zoo too -Mount Greylock (summit parking is $5-10 and has paved road to do a drive tour) -Korea Garden Restaurant in North adam, nearby to the Mass MOCA -Berkshire Mall's Regal Cinemas -Market 32 for groceries -Mass MOCA (for modern art, boiler room could easily be something out of walking dead) Overall, Would I go back? Yes- it's not too far from NY and the resort is one of few that allow dogs. read more

This place is outdated and needs a rehab. The dishwasher and stovetop did not work in our unit so they moved us to another. The stovetop did not work in the unit that we were moved to either. The kids enjoyed the outdoor pool and activities that were offered. The staff don't seem enthusiastic about working here. They could be friendlier. It wasn't completely terrible but I would not come back to this resort. read more

I went to Vacation Village for my vacation this week. I've always had good luck with my timeshares and RCI. This however, was the worst vacation I've been on. I checked out on Wednesday morning (Yesterday) when my actual check out day was this upcoming Saturday. Most people I encountered were rude. Ie, calling for towels I was told I could only get more on Tuesdays and if I needed more there was a 2 towel max and I had to go get it myself. I spoke to concierge to see what a 31 year old could do for fun at night in the area and they didn't know much about surrounding nightlife or a bar that was right up the road. I was checked into the wrong room and never switched out, they said I wasn't eligible for an A or C room even though every stay I've had a larger room w/ jacuzzi. My room was dirty and I had a bug problem. When I called to address this they offered for me to go get new sheets and assured me there was no bug problem... even though I complained with other guests about being bit while sleeping and also found a new big bug in my room everyday. I felt like I was an inconvenience to them. When I checked out 3 days early, they asked how my stay was, I said it was not exceptional and she continued on like a robot and wished me a good day and reminded me to make sure my trash was taken out or I would be billed. Very bad experience. I should have listened to the other reviews online. This is a stay for people that only enjoy using the pool and laying down in bed or sitting outside. There's not much to do here. The town basically closes down at 8pm. The resort across the street, Jiminy Peak, has much more to offer and while i was across the street using their amenities they were much more pleasant to deal with. Even if this is a week you're exchanging or a last minute stay, I would say stay away. You can get better service at a $40 a night motel. read more

We stayed at the Vacation Village over the weekend while skiing at Jiminy Peak and were pretty happy with the accommodations. The Pros: Good sized 1 bedroom unit with big bathroom & kitchen. The pool was nice--shallow and a full of kids...but you expect that. The hot tub & game area were great for unwinding. Kitchen was well equipped with mostly everything need to cook full meals. They try to be green and have recycling bins on site which is always a plus in my book. Free access to internet in the clubhouse--big plus. The Cons: No cell phone reception---really?! The tacky OptiFlame fire place--Yes an optical illusion fake fire place. The fake plants in the unit--would be better off without it. The uber springy mattress on the pull out bed--thank god it was only 2 nights! The game room was pretty small so it got crowded and noisy easily. Thin wall let you hear everything happening in the hall way and outside I would stay here again given its great proximity to Jiminy Peak and since it was a good experience overall. read more

Clean and well run. Pool is probably the nicest part - indoor with massive view overlooking ski slopes! Game room is always a hit - ping pong upstairs, and some kids activities. Decor is modern and up-to-date. Only giving it 3 starts because the entire place is cheaply constructed. Every year we stay there - every unit - we wind up with the same types of issues. Leaky faucets dripping all night. Squeaky HVAC systems keeping us up. Doors that don't stay closed, doors that don't stay shut. Doors that slam themselves shut. Floors and walls so thin that any noise (like slamming doors) or movement from other units resonate through the whole building. Laundry rooms with machines that don't work right. read more

The scenery, even now in the summer is incredibly lush, the grounds are very well maintained and the drive is serene. -the staff really tries hard. Sometimes you'll have the same person doing poker and water aerobics but they try and make your stay pleasant -uh free movies...! You can rent them for free and they have a fairly decent DVD selection -the rooms are very nice, they are kept clean (you know when they are just polishing crap as we've all had BAD ROOMS). -it's vacation. The two stars are entirely for the clubhouse design (nice indoor pool, game room, internet room, huge windows with an amazing view), and our tour rep, Bill. So why are there ONLY two stars? We arrived a bit early for our reservation: 3:45 for a 4PM check-in. We were told our room wasn't ready and we should check back in a few minutes. No cell phone reception up here either, so we couldn't stray too far from the front desk. Well, one grocery-store-run later, it was 4:30. We went back to the front desk and were told, once again, that our room was still not ready - that cleaning service was a bit slow today. We browsed the tourist attraction brochures, went to the bathroom, did anything we could to kill time. Finally, at 5:15pm, our room was ready. First impression when we walked into our room? Wow, this place is pretty big, especially for a "B unit." Lots of space, lots of light. Now, we own our timeshare and this was just a quick weekend trip at a sister resort... so have plenty of experience with timeshares. Therefore, this first impression did not last very long. Upon further inspection, there was no stove - only an electric cooktop. The bed was just queen size. It was uncomfortable and creaky and would soon leave me with a stiff back to drive home with. The TVs were nice but actually rather small - we had to strain to see the TV from the bed. The A units were similar except they had a bigger kitchen and a jacuzzi in the master bedroom. We found out later that night (and maybe our neighbors found out sooner) that the walls are paper-thin. I could hear my neighbor going to the bathroom, using the toilet, flushing the toilet, washing his hands, sneezing, rinsing his hands. Imagine what our neighbors heard coming from my room? The next morning, we were supposed to attend a tour. We were sent to the bottom of the mountain to the "Welcome Center" where we were welcomed with a trip back up the mountain to retrieve a sheet of paper that we were not told that we needed to bring. After driving back up and down the mountain (about a 10 minute drive each way), we were told we were sent down the mountain by mistake and were supposed to take our tour at the resort itself (back where we came from, twice). Well finally took our tour - and as owners, these tours are very relaxed since they aren't trying to sell you anything. Our rep, Bill, was awesome. an aforementioned star for him. Bill showed us one of the newer buildings - updated with new mattresses that don't creak or give you back pain. He told us that the rest of the resort will be updated with these mattresses very soon. Nice. Furthermore, the B unit (similar to the one we were staying in) was being replaced by a C unit (practically an A unit). Nice perk for people who own at Berkshires, irrelevant for us. After the tour? We got the hell out of there. This place would probably be great in the winter time. The ski slopes are right across the street. Lots of artsy things to do in the area as well. I'm willing to give this place another shot, but only time will tell. read more

Will never stay there again. The suite was spacious, and clean. That's the good stuff. The bad: The bed was rock hard. My wife developed back pain it was so hard. The sheets were like sand paper, too. It's sad when Comfort Inn holds a higher standard. The really bad: the plumbing in the tub had issues. The drain couldn't keep up with the water flow. While showering the water collects around your feet. But does the staff take care of it after you notify them of the problem. No. So when it happens again, and you complain about it, all you get is a disingenuous sorry. Enjoy your stay. read more

We own a timeshare at Vacation Village. We received an invoice in June from their billing office - Daily Management, Inc. - regarding our maintenance fees w/ late fees. We contacted them June 28 and said we didn't have any recollection getting the original invoice or a phone call or an email. We asked them if they could reduce the fees they added. We didn't hear back until Sept. 9, 74 days later, that they couldn't do anything because it went to collection. We feel this company has been inattentive to our needs and question whether they made any attempt to invoice us in a timely manner during COVID. Avoid at all cost. read more

My Wife and I stayed here for a week at the beginning of September. I was braced for the worst, but was pleasantly surprised. Our suite was spacious, well equipped and clean as a whistle. Loved the jacuzzi in the bedroom and the porch out back. We brought our dog with us, and he liked it too! Nice areas to walk your dog, and the room seemed free of "pet damage". Our place was quiet too, unlike some of the other reviews here. We were there at a pretty slow time of the year though. If the place was packed, I could see noise being a problem. If this place was so great, why not 5 stars? Well, the bed was hard as a rock. It was really uncomfortable, so much so that I took to sleeping on the couch. Not the pull-out, the couch itself. The pillows were useless too. Thank Goodness we brought our own. Also, the water pressure in the shower was pathetic. It was so weak, you never got that invigorating "wake-up" feeling. The lighting in the bathroom was pretty poor too. One other negative, thought this has nothing to do with the resort- It is MILES from shopping. The closest supermarket is a good 25 minutes away, so remember to bring supplies with you. Negatives aside, we had a really wonderful, relaxing time here, and would happily return again. Pros: - Beautiful area especially for a fall weekend trip. - Huge room. Ours had a full kitchen, dining area, sofa and two chairs, a fire place, King bed, full bathroom, and a jacuzzi tub. - Close to Pittsfield and North Adams. Cons: - paying for wifi. Ten dollars a day gets you access to their slower than average high-speed internet. I didn't know what the cell phone service was like in the area when I agreed to the wifi fee, but it's fine. Would have been cheaper to add more GBs of data to my cell plan. -The grocery store, or any store really, is at least 20 min away. We planned our grocery stops into our day trips so it wasn't a big deal, but if you forgot something it's at least 40 min round trip. -Noise. Maybe they saved money on skipping the insulation in the walls, but you can hear almost everything you neighbors are doing. Overall not a bad place in a beautiful area. Great spacious rooms with a jacuzzi tub. Just bring ear plugs when you want some quiet and maybe a book to skip the wifi fee. read more

All in all, Vacation Villages is pretty neat, located in a scenic valley with big trees, blue sky, and a ski resort right across the way.... The only bad thing about being located in a valley? Zero cell phone reception. That's fine if you're all outdoorsy and crunchy, but if you're me and confined to a resort with the likes of your in laws.... Well, it's a petri dish for schizophrenic behavior. The rooms are spacious, and the kitchenettes are nice (handy too, since the only other restaurants around are John Harvards and a place called Powder Dogs, inconveniently closed whilst we were there). The two pools are nice, and the indoor pool is especially clean and warm, right next to a comfortable lobby where you can access free Wifi (but that's the only place on site that offers it). Our room was in the pet friendly building, so I was excited about being able to bring the dogs... But I think the room wasn't as well taken care of as our in laws' room in another building: The wallpaper was torn, carpet stained, and furniture pre-chewed. I understand not fixing things that will most likely be ruined by over active pups, but I felt like the building we were in was for second class citizens. The coffeepot and free coffee in the room was a bonus. read more

The vacation village resort was ok we enjoyed the hot tub and heated pool and close proximity to the mountain. The condo was ok but didn't look like the pictures posted - outdated oversized furniture too large for space and out of date run down carpet that clearly needs replacing (building 21). It had a jacuzzi tub in bedroom which was weird and also not like photos. The shared laundry in hallway was also not great - dryers didn't work well and were old. Take note that what you see in pictures is not what you will get. We were a bit cramped. However with that said it was clean and had everything we needed. The second floor was also quiet and private. The movie collection at resort was good and we enjoyed watching some movies. Tons of kids there and very family friendly. There is a weekly $30 amenities fee that you have to pay to use facilities. read more

I would have liked this place much more if the room hadn't smelled unpleasantly. Upon telling the staff, they did nothing to correct it. They would "look into it". How nice! How about looking into giving me a discount for spending the night in a room that smells of cat urine? Wouldn't that be the decent thing to do? read more

Vacation Village in the Berkshires is a small but nice timeshare operation situated on a hilltop just across the road from Jiminy Peak ski resort. I am not convinced that the operation is at RCI Gold Star level, but it is quite comfortable. The devil is in the details to earn the highest rating, in my opinion. We are staying in an AB suite, which has separate doors off a common, private entrance way. The layout is generally convenient. The view out of our windows is quite nice. Negatives: The furnace is in the living room and rather loud while watching tv. The living room coat closet is in an inconvenient corner behind furniture; its doors would probably work better if one could stand more comfortably in front of the closet. Our suite has a whirlpool tub for one person in the bedroom. Negatives: A Gold Star facility should have a jacuzzi for two, no? Also, the whirlpool jets released volumes of black plumbing debris into two bathing attempts, something we will report before we leave. The bathrooms are cavernous, so those looking for a large bathroom should be pleased. Our shower worked great. Nice tile floor and modern lighting and shower fan. Big closet. Negatives: No light over the shower in either unit. No light over or near the toilet in the B unit. The wallpapering job in our A unit was poorly done -- lots of plaster and unconnected seams. The paper near the bathroom mirror was not fastened down but curled up towards the mirror. I would recommend some sort of furniture in the bathrooms so people have a place to set a newspaper, cell phone or tablet/iPad, wallet, keys, etc. We had to put the soap on the "seat" in the shower because the shelf made for soap bars was at a bit of an angle and the soap would fall. A nice big screen tv and DVD player in the living room of the A unit. Your $25 fee gives you access to their stock of DVDs -- two can be charged out at a time. Two typewritten pages of movies from about two years ago and earlier, including a stock of popular films of the past twenty years. Negative: We had to call the desk to find out how to switch back and forth from TV to DVD. (They sent someone to our room rather quickly and he showed us the ropes. I'd recommend a free standing instruction card next to the tv.) The tables and counters seem pretty hearty, which might explain the lack of coasters. The living room came with a boom box that plays CDs and radio. I would recommend modernizing with an alarm clock radio with a dock connector port for iPods and an audio input jack. Our room had a quiet, nicely functioning dishwasher. Negatives: The kitchen came with only two dishwasher tablets for a week's stay. The dishwasher door was at such an angle that the bottom drawer would roll back into the dishwasher whenever you let go of it. I eventually resorted to removing the back wheels of the lower drawer from the track while adding or removing dishes and silverware. The check in building has a lounge and a glass wall so you can see the indoor pool. Some folks enjoy stepping outside to use the hot tub outside. They have a NY Times vending machine in the doorway. The staff is on duty 24/7 and were always pleasant and helpful. It seems odd to me that the check in building gets the best site on the property. The General Store across the street has some basics you might need. I bought some condiments, plastic wrap, lunch meat, juice, eggs, etc. They also have a large selection of wines and beers. They offer quality lunchmeats which they cut for you by the pound, and they have a board showing sandwiches and soups they make. You'll want to travel to Pittsfield for meats and most foods. There are several major grocery chains located there. Many of the museums and attractions have restricted hours or are closed after Columbus Day. Check the fine print, especially if you are relying on Yelp for hours. Like most resorts we've stayed at, the Wifi situation was complex and annoying. The biggest single issue we have with timeshare resorts is their abysmal wifi service. I'd gladly pay a fee for better service, if that service would be modern and functional. The fee-based service at this and most resorts is still much worse than a cable company offers its customers in their homes. We may use wifi more than most while at a resort, but even occasional users will want it to work and without impediment. Bad internet can be maddening for people in the timeshare category. We're quite pleased all in all with our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Like I said, some mostly little things could be improved to get the highest rating. read more
