I was able to schedule a plumber for the next day. In the meantime, I tried to do a load of laundry, but my machine wouldn't rinse. I called Ron, who quickly came back over to see what the problem was. He discovered a piece had become disconnected inside the workings of my washing machine. He plugged it in and resolved the issue.

I called Dadd's and told him age of the dryer and he strongly encouraged a repair. He said it could be as low as $130 for a minor repair or $200 at most. He said it was $90 for diagnostic and no charge for travel. He came out 2 days later and was 3 hours into his arrival window. After no more than 5 minutes he said I had a busted belt and I was happy thinking I'd be on the low end of his service charge. He didn't say anything further and took dryer apart to replace it. After a couple of belts he did find one that fit and installed it and then announced my bill was $200. I was a little surprised cuz the work he did couldn't have taken more than 15 minutes and he'd told me on the phone he billed for labor by the quarter hour and didn't know why this small job wouldn't qualify for the $130 price he quoted me on the phone for something that took about 15 minutes! I let him know I wasn't thrilled and he started quoting other places that were allegedly much higher for just a service call instead of explaining his pricing. He never even offered me an itemized bill either showing exactly how he justified that price either! In retrospect I should have demanded one. I thought all professionals would do that for repairs! He didn't even offer a receipt either although I did pay with a check. I thought he was a little unscrupulous quoting me $70 cheaper on the phone than what he charged when the work was done--especially when I would have been hesitant to put $200 dollars more into that old of a dryer--and he was aware of the age of my dryer! I also looked up the serial # of my belt and it was only $10 on Amazon--so if was $90 for diagnostic and $10 for belt he charged me $100 for 15 minutes of work! I would not recommend this company.

need to warn people of my experience with Ron's Appliance in Jenison. I have never had…read morecommunication so bad. Our dryer was not spinning so we called Ron's and they sent someone out. We knew that we had to pay the 95 dollars up front and this was clearly explained. They said that they needed to purchase a part and would contact us when it comes in. Not too long, on Dec 2nd, they called and said that they had the part and scheduled with us on Dec. 4 from 3-5. They never showed up. They never called. We called them the next day and they said they were running behind. When we asked why no one called when they were not able to make it, they said that they called us at 6 but it did not go through as it was a 'blocked number." There was no call made to our number. We rescheduled to December 9 from 3-5. Again, no call, no show. We contacted the next day, and they said that someone hit a pole and their computer system shut down. We repeated our displeasure with a lack of communication, and they agreed to give us the part needed to fix the dryer for free. We appreciated this. We rescheduled for December 11 for 3-5. Again, they did not show up. At 4:45 on December 11 after not hearing anything, I called Ron's. They told me that they were on their way. Waited until 6 without a phone call. No one showed up or called. We called the next day and scheduled an appointment again from 3-5. At 4:40 we called and was told that they were finishing up some paperwork and would be right over. No one showed up. No one called. Finally, we called at 8:15 on December 13. We were told that when they were coming over they had to avoid an accident (the roads were bad), and that is why they were not there. They said that they would be right over in about an hour. I told them that I would call at 10 o'clock as I really didn't trust that they would actually come after 4 no calls, no shows.. This time they arrived right on time and spent about 10 minutes on the dryer, which we appreciate. However, the guy said that our dyer was quiet, which should have been a red flag for me. We just did a load of laundry and used the dyer. The dryer is still not turning. After all that, the dryer is still not fixed. The original work order said "dryer won't turn." So I will never use Ron's Appliance Inc in Jenison and would recommend that others stay away as well.
