Truly, a little bit of everything. Ski wax and files, nuts and bolts, paints and stains, power tools, hand tools, grills and parts, Carhartt, etc. The staff has helped us with screen repairs and chair repairs and will carry the 40# salt bags to our car. We know the prices are higher and the staff is 'seasoned' and it's just fine. The convenience of getting in and out quickly is welcome. read more

I've been in there a few times over the last say 3 years. Pretty good selection of items. However, it's from the way they approach potential customers that they know that the nearest big store like Lowes is 18 miles away: Today I walked in to the store just before 5. A woman at the front nodded a greeting. Then a man I don't know came rushing out of an aisle and shouted NO NO NO NO NO at me. I had no idea what he was going on about. Turns out they close at 5.... Maybe they should lock the door when they close? And maybe they should say "I'm sorry, we're closed' instead of NO NO NO NO NO. Anyway I glanced at my watch - ok, 4:59 - and the man said to me 'you look like you were going to take your time.' WTFruck? I knew exactly what I wanted and I had no desire to spend more than 5 minutes in yet another store, I had just finished grocery shopping. Oh well, lowes it is, because places like this can go f themselves. read more

Like this store, little of everything. They have several young, energetic staff. These staff members at least know where items are found in the store; they speak English and are helpful. As to whether they are experts in electrical, plumbing, woodworking, home repairs, I doubt it - but they do try. If one goes to a big box store in Denver one will find experts in those speciality areas, but Ace in Vail is in remote Eagle County and at least it's far superior to nearby competition (cough, cough Home Depot, Avon). Almost every time I've shopped at Ace I was able to find item(s) needed at a reasonable price and for those living in Vail, it's very convenient. read more

Only store in the valley you can't enter, I refuse to wait outside if the proper precautions are being met. As long as they are cleaning and wearing masks, in addition to the customers wearing masks there is no reason why customers can't enter. I drive by daily and see a line of people waiting to be helped from outside the front door, just doesn't seem like a good response to the guidelines. Why open the store at all? I'll be reluctantly going to Home Depot until they open their doors again. read more

I've been a customer here for 9+ years. The past few times I've gone in here, I've been met with multiple instances of poor customer service. I don't mind paying a little more here than a big box store when you're treated well. It's unfortunate but I'll be taking my business to the Glenwood Springs Ace from now on. read more

Great selection on just about everything you would every want in a hardware store, I just wish the prices where more like the big box store down the road. I like to shop here and the staff is always very helpful and friendly. Prices however seem to be quite a bit higher on some products and than on others the price is the same as the big box. I was pricing power drills and ace had a better price than the competition. On the other side of that, the price on nut and bolts and other type of ace product the price is sky high. I guess the prices are higher because of the location in the town of Vail which in it's self is very convenient to not have to get on the highway and drive the extra distance to same just a few bucks. I do perfer the paint department to that of the big box, ace seems to have a better matching system that other places and I from I have experienced it's worth the extra money for the paint match if you are trying to do the best job possible. If the paint is the wrong color it will cost you a lot more in the long run. read more
