The office was easy to find and had enough parking which I liked. When I walked in, the staff looked up and greeted me which gave a nice first impression. After checking in, I didn't have to wait too long before being brought back. The person who got my vitals was kind and asked a few questions just to confirm everything on record. I appreciated that the doctor came in shortly after, so I didn't have to wait alone long. They asked direct questions but also gave space for me to explain in my own words. They took a moment to look over past records and pointed out a few things I hadn't thought about. The visit didn't feel rushed and I liked that they didn't jump to conclusions. I almost don't want to write this review because I may just blow up my joint. I've been experiencing lower back pain for several months and have been looking for a seasoned (and close-to-home) chiropractor office. When I first reached out via Yelp, the office promptly responded to me and I was able to lock in an appointment through Maria for the following week. For my first visit, there was the standard intake documents that I needed to complete. My current insurance covers 24 chiropractic visits per calendar year with a $25 co-pay for each visit. After completing the paperwork and paying my $25, Maria kindly walked me into one of the patient rooms. Dr. Nguyen came in shortly after and we talked through my complaints and primary areas I wanted to work on which was mostly my lower back, shoulders, and neck. He helped me with some light stretching, did some standard adjustments to my mid and lower back, and used a tool that made me scream for mercy. Seriously, that tool is painful but it has been effective in stretching out muscles in my troubled areas. Today was my 5th visit over a span of six weeks and I can honestly share that I have noticed a significant difference. I'm not as stiff, my lower back pain is improving and my muscles do not feel as tight and rigid as they did prior to me finding Val Chiropractic. I have observed my overall posture improving also. It's an added bonus that everyone in this office has been nothing short of sweet and personable. It has been a pleasure working with Maria -- she's efficient and very sincere in her client interactions. Every time i have put myself in a situation where old age is catching up to me whether it is an accident, workouts, desk job, or simply a horrible pillow. I think of dr. Lam. As a professional who is in front of a screen 8+ hours a day and is frequently in the gym, his advice on proper posture and form (in the office and in the gym) has prevented long term pain in problem areas. This Chiropractors office is conducting shady business practices; billing for services not provided, not informing the patient about charges. Summery of charges are bland and without any details. First off. Dr. Nguyen is indeed knowledgeable and good at his job. I had a handful of sessions a couple years ago and the treatment was moderately working. However, my experience every session wasn't enjoyable and the customer service is poor. Everything felt rushed and when I had questions after my session, he would rush off to another patient. The reason why I stopped coming to him was because I had a 5:00PM appointment and he made me wait until 6:00PM while he was with a female patient. Afterwards, not only did he not apologize for making me wait 1 hour, but he didn't even treat me!! And he didn't even offer to reschedule another date. Like what the heck??! Keep in mind that I was the last/only person in the waiting room. He basically told me that I need to go to the gym and fix this and that when I'm working back exercises. Thank you for the tip, but I'm disappointed that he wasted my time and wasn't apologetic about it. read more

I've always heard good things about Dr. Nguyen from friends and family, so I started going regularly after my primary doctor recommended physical therapy for my neck pains. At first I was worried that my neck was going to keep giving me issues, but Dr. Nguyen explained to me that I needed to improve my posture and showed me some stretches for my neck. I always feel a lot better after every visit and my neck feels less tense every time. Just had my 5th session...and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. After lifting for +8 years with bad form, it was finally time to see Dr. Nguyen. I had zero activation of my right pec, no glute activation, and overactive traps. In only 5 sessions he has almost fixed these issues completely, while teaching me why they are how they are. My everyday life has improved so much. No back pain from poor posture, no heel pain from standing, no shoulder pain lifting. This is all thanks to Dr. Nguyen teaching me how to activate my muscles. I first discovered Dr. Lam Nguyen a few years back when I got into a car accident. He helped me with my lower back issues and I saw him at his previous office. I recently started to come back to him regularly for treatment on my neck pain and Achilles tendonitis. Having had to quit bootcamp because of my Achilles tendonitis, he explained to me that he does something called the "Graston" technique. The "Graston" technique is not something that is offered everywhere and Dr. Lam is a certified practicioner. I'm not going to lie. It's painful. He uses metal instruments that are massaged deeply into the muscles to break down the tissue that is responsible for causing you pain. In my case, it's my Achilles and neck. These metal instruments are serious business. When he pushes them into the tissues and massages them deeply into the muscles, it hurts so much that you are going to cringe at times. Your body will start to sweat as you scrunch up your face from the pain and tears that may or may not start to roll down your cheeks. But hang in there folks. After all the pain, there is a reward. It's called "relief". That is what keeps me coming back. I am confident that my Achilles tendonitis will be returning to normal functioning with consistent treatment here. The Graston technique is helping me where my physical therapist cannot. When I told my physical therapist that I was having this done at my Chiropractor's office, she expressed that she also wanted to get certified eventually but that it was currently cost prohibitive for her to do it at this time. Came here for back pain. Not because of my 2nd car accident that month, but because I was stabbed in the back by my ex-fiance! Unfortunately, insurance does not cover that...but they can do something about being in the middle of a 3 car collision. Dr. D Lam was really good about seeing me right away. I was able to come in on the very day that I called. He has been very flexible with setting up appointments around my schedule, and extremely thorough in explaining what's going on physiologically and what to do next. I'm absolutely grateful for Dr Lam. Throughout the years (since late 2015), he's educated me on form, how to properly execute movements and truly feel the muscle contraction. I attribute most of my growth to his lessons and wisdom He's helped keep me in check, for the most part, and I've been injury free for quite a while now! Thanks to his cues and knowledge, I've learned how to properly engage my problem areas (lats, glutes, etc) and how to take the muscle through the complete ROM. I am absolutely grateful for Dr Lam :)))) I haven't touched this weight in close to 6 years due to my lower back injury in late 2015 but after seeing him today, I felt such a huge surge of confidence that enabled me to even try 365 lmao!! The most I've done was like 335 for conventional reps and 365 or so for RDL reps. If anyone ever needs any work done on their problem areas, has any chronic pain or trouble feeling the target areas, he's the guy to go to. He's extremely knowledgeable and friendly (once you get past his tough exterior ) and has very reasonable rates! He's quite popular here and he's usually always booked so if y'all want to go, I recommend booking 1-2 weeks in advance. Great first visit with Dr Lam. Very clean and not crowded location taking cleanliness very seriously. I came in with back and shoulder pain that's bothered me for a long time. By pointing out range of motion and strength issues the Dr identified multiple areas that need work. He then used active release and the graston technique to loosen the muscles and joints affected. I feel much better and look forward to my next appointment. For those who haven't had chiropractic and are afraid of adjustments there were only two small ones that the dr double checked that I wanted. I have been going here for 2 years and for the past 2 years, my 35 year old body feels like it's 25 again. =) The Graston treatment feels like a Swedish /deep tissue massage to me. Great staff, awesome customer service. I called in last Friday with some foot pain hoping to make an appointment in the upcoming week. Despite my hectic schedule of working full time from 9-6, Lam was able to fit me in yesterday as his last appointment. He educated me a bit on why I was experiencing pain and made it knowledgeable of what I should do to reduce the pain. The Graston technique he used helped me out so much. Before the appointment, I was not able to even do a toe raise on my left foot, but after the appointment, I was able to do multiple toe raises as well as more flexibility in my ankle. I am extremely disappointed in my visit to VAL Chiropractic, which I found on help due to their high yelp reviews. So I recently got into a car accident and everyone has been telling me to go get my back checked. When I got there, they took down my information and stated that since the visit is because of the car accident, they will contact my car insurance to see if I have medical pay and refused to take my health insurance. After calling my car insurance, it turns out that I do not have medical pay on my coverage and that the doctor I'm seeing will give me other options on what I could do to cover for the payments. The doctor gave me like a quick 15 minutes exam and states that I should come back in a week to do a follow up since it's too close to the accident. He didn't check the spine or anything. The doctor also told me that since my insurance doesn't cover medical pay, I should contact an attorney the chiro actually works with and provided me their business card. Today, I got a call from the chiropractor saying that I haven't called the attorney to go over about my accident. However, I do not want to call the attorney since they are still investigating the car insurance and if anything, I will call them when they figure out whose fault is whose. The receptionist on the phone told me that since I am choosing not to contact the attorney, they are not going to be able to help me any further. ARE YOU SERIOUS? They stated for their chiro they do not touch health insurance AT ALL if it the person was involved in a car accident. To me, this place is just looking for money. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. They are just going to try to cross sell an attorney to you. read more

...a very delayed reviews..... Dr Lam treated me for 2 issues; my clicking hip from an old injury and whiplash from a rear-ended accident. I found Dr Lam on Yelp based on the excellent reviews and he treated my "clicking hip". I bought a package and by the 4th session, I saw HUGE improvements. My hip mobility is back to 100%; I can stand and walk without pain for hours like how I used to. Dr Lam also educated me on my injury and explained what happened to my muscles. In addition he also taught me exercises which I still do daily to relax and stretch my muscles. Later on, I got rear-ended and suffered from whiplash - my neck was swollen and my left shoulder ached. I was unable to rotate my head to the left. Again, Dr Lam did his magic and after 2 months of treatment, I was back to my old self. I've been seeing Lam for over a year now. He's definitely help align me and help me get better range of motion. I work hunched over all day and my shoulders and back definitely take a toll on my body. After my visits from here I notice how my body can move more when I train. I tried this chiropractor out because they are close to where I live, but what a mistake. The first appointment consisted of the doctor doing 2 things: 1. constantly asked about my previous chiropractor and then proceeded to criticize how they were wrong. 2. then criticized me and how bad of shape my back was in...and how he was going to fix that. I've been to chiropractors before and I know they get a bad wrap (for not being real medicine). I've benefitted from treatments/adjustments, but I'm really weary when a chiropractor claims to be able to "fix" everything... and all they want to do is criticize your previous chiropractor. There just didn't appear to be a lot of listening to me and what my needs are. In addition, it seemed like the administrativestaff doesn't openly share all information with you. There were 2 occasions where I had to draw out critical policy/payment information out of them, which they could have made me aware of early on, but didn't . If you choose to go here, make sure you ask all the questions, know all the options because they aren't proactive with information. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Lam Nguyen for over a year now. It can be kind of confusing because his first name is Lam and his associate's last name is Lam... Anyway, he moved into a nicer space earlier this year & I love it! It's in the same shopping center as Save Mart & McDonald's. The new decor is definitely a step up. Maria at the front desk is wonderful, she's always so nice. I get really bad tension headaches & if left untreated, they often lead to debilitating migraines. Although it hurts so badly while he's working on my neck and shoulders, I feel a huge relief by the time he's done. Ahhhh, nothing like having my neck and back cracked. I've also come to him when I accidentally overextended my arm at work one day & he fixed it right up! My whole family loves him. He's so down to earth & we usually chat during the entire session so I almost forget how much pain I'm in. His new technique involves these tools which look like metal rods that he uses to break down tissue. Omfg, I can't help but tear up sometimes because it hurts and bruises me but I have to admit that it does help. Dr. Nguyen also practices sports medicine, he knows his stuff! I always receive thorough explanations about my condition, how to prevent it & how he's going to fix me. I usually have two appointments in a row & I'm good to go. Found out about Val Chiropractic from someone I followed on IG. Was curious about graston, so I did some research and decided to make an appointment. First meeting with Dr. Lam was great. He is very personable and answered all questions that I had and gave me clear explanation as to what graston is and what it does. I started coming regularly to get rid of knots in my back and shoulders, and to improve my mobility overall. Recently I've been into the office twice a week for the last few weeks bc I suffered from whiplash in my neck from a car accident. Getting everything set up through my insurance was extremely easy and almost required no effort on my part. Since my accident, the treatments from Dr. Lam have helped me tremendously, the aches in my neck and back has decreased and I am starting to regain my strength. A good client of mine referred me to Dr. Nguyen. I'm a hairdresser and suffer from pain and bruising at the thumb area. A lot of people scare me by telling me I have carpal tunnel. Good thing Dr assured me it was a work injury and nothing more. I look forward to all my sessions every 2 weeks. DR. Lam is a very cool guy and our sessions consist of endless laughs and giggles. We talk about the most randomness stuff and sometimes I feel as if he's my therapist also. Btw... The pain in my hands have gone away. But I do feel the itch and know when to return for my appointment cause my hand will tell me.
