They have different types of therapy's to help focus different pains and muscles. Dr Kevin was the main chiropractor who helped me. I received a gift certificate for a Chiropractic treatment and initial assessment. I'm not new to chiropractic treatment as I had to go through many years of it during my childhood due to a car accident. I've also gone to a new chiropractor a year or so ago due to a Yelp event which was lovely as I needed some help with my knee and foot at that time. L O C A T I O N Thrive Milpitas is located in a small plaza off of Jacklin east of 680. Parking is limited but there's plenty of parking and I easily parked directly in front. I N S I D E It's a pretty compact place with treatment rooms that are on the perimeter of the main room and in the center is the check in desk and behind that is another treatment area that's more out in the open which also had a massage chair. The back room has two massage rooms which they also use for acupuncture. They also have a family treatment room which is helpful if you need to bring your kids as they have a little play area on the side. They have restroom which is nice if you need to do a potty break before your session. M A K I N G - A N - A P P O I N T M E N T When I called to make my appointment, it was really simple. I also received an email to fill out pre-assessment forms. I also received a text and an email to confirm my appointment a day or two before my appointment. D A Y - O F - A P P O I N T M E N T I arrived and went to the desk and the front desk person helped me with checking in. I also provided my ID and Kaiser card. They told me any subsequent appointments outside of the initial appointment would be $60 instead of $75 which is nice. One of the assistants walked me around to tour the office which was nice. It would've been nice if they introduced themselves to me and so I asked for their name as it's nice to know who you're talking to. I was taken to the family treatment room. One of their interns took my initial assessments asking about my area of concerns and background. I mentioned the current issue I'm starting to feel again was my plantar fasciitis on my left foot arch as well as lower back aches and shoulder/neck aches. What I found interesting and different was that I wasn't asked to take off my shoes when doing my assessment or treatment. I would've thought they would look at my posture without my shoes as shoes tend to alter your stance. Maybe that's just a different way of assessing. But I would've thought they would ask me to remove it when they were adjusting or feeling through my foot since I kept saying that this was my main problem recently. But it was a bit weird to have them bend and flex my foot with shoes on. After the initial assessment, I was put with these pads on my lower back that was like a bit of electric shock which was nice and I kept asking for harder which probably backfired when I got home later that night as I was so achey and sore in my lower back. They checked up on me every so often just to let me know how much longer I had which was really nice. They also did some moving traction work for my lower back and the "genie" massage pad that they worked on my shoulders. After all that, the chiropractor came in to do the final treatments including myofascial release (I may have remembered the terminology incorrectly) and manipulation on my lower back, neck and left ankle. He was very personable and knowledgeable. Explained what he was doing to me and why, which was great. I love learning. After the last few adjustments, he told me some stretches I could do to help my aches for my neck and back which was nice. Then he said his goodbyes and I was left in the room to gather my belongings and leave. I guess it felt a little abrupt and I just kind of walked out wondering, should I have talked to the front desk? Was there anything else? Later that day, I received an email with after care expectations as well as more information on how to treat my diagnosis which include a few more exercises I should do as well as suggested return care. T H O U G H T S Initially after the treatment, as expected and they do tell you that there are 3 outcomes after the initial treatment: 1) Nothing, 2) Immediate relief or 3) Increase in symptoms/discomfort. I was #3. My foot got worse and my lower back was in pain. The lower back pain did eventually go away after a couple days. The foot pain is still unfortunately there and I'm doing my physical therapy exercises as well as icing/self massage that I've done in the past to help. Every body is different and every one has different reactions to treatment. I'm kind of used to this with my body unfortunately! I know for me, it gets worse before it gets better, so I don't blame the folks here at Thrive. O V E R A L L Definitely a good option for your chiropractic needs in Milpitas. Dr. Kauffman and his incredible team deserve the highest praise. I first visited him years ago and was deeply impressed by his care, especially when he personally followed up with me the very next day to see how I was feeling. I went to his clinic crying with pain. I go to his clinic all the time. During my recent visit, he went completely above and beyond. He noticed a rash and immediately suggested that the rash looked like shingles, in his opinion but suggested that I see a Primary Care Physician directing me to preventative medicine right away. Because of his quick, expert eye, I got treatment in time, which completely stopped the shingles from spreading. He isn't just a phenomenal chiropractor; he is a dedicated care provider who looks at the whole picture of your health. To top it off, his staff at both locations are absolutely wonderful. They try to accommodate you with appointments at either locations if possible. They always greet you with a smile, actually listen to your pain, and make you feel completely welcome and comfortable from the moment you walk in. I am incredibly grateful for this practice!" Highly recommended! The doctors here are extremely professional, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. Three months ago, I began treatment at Thrive Milpitas after sustaining a knee injury from sports. Dr. Kauffman performed a simple test and noticed something not okay in my knee, he referred MRI to me immediately, which revealed a complete ACL tear. Now, five weeks post-surgery, my recovery under Dr. Kauffman's treatment has been incredibly smooth and stress-free, the entire rehab process has been very pleasant. This is the second time I've had to go to a chiropractor regularly, and compared to the last place I went to, Thrive is SO much better. 1. They have early and later appointments in the day to fit everyone's schedule. 2. SUPER friendly/accommodating staff. 3. Thorough and genuine care for their patients. *Bonus* massage appointments My visits starts with checking in and then waiting until called (less of a wait in the morning). Once called, I lay on the treatment table for about 15 - 20 minutes with their electrical nerve simulation thingamabob then they stretch my lower back with the traction table. Now the best and final part is cracking the pain away with Dr. Saber. Each visit with Dr. Saber has been great. He takes his time, targets specific areas if and when needed, and he even suggested a few stretches to help with those areas. He's so nice and caring, and really makes you feel like he's there to help. Now the massages they offer is with a licensed massage therapist and it's THE BEST MASSAGE I'VE EVER HAD. Elaine took her time, asked about any specific areas she should target or avoid (for more serious injuries) and overall it was amazing. During the massage, she was firm and strong but careful all at the same time. If you'd like to schedule a massage appointment, do it now, cause it books up pretty fast. But you can massage me in the garage for all that matters because I only care about my massage therapist's clinical expertise. I need someone who is able to listen to my needs and even feel how my body is responding to their work so they can adjust accordingly. I came in looking for a new chiropractor as my old one had retired. I had tried a few different clinics but they did not solve my issue. I found Thrive when I was looking for a local clinic with years of experience hoping that would aid in my search for someone who would help me address my chronic SI joint pain with an unknown root cause. One of the best clinics in the area, well equipped, well trained staff and knowledgeable practitioners. At the time Dr Saber was my main healer and he was marvelous: caring, empathic and gave useful advice. At our first appt he even did an initial physical exam and assessment. Dr Kaufman treated me twice on Dr Saber's off days and he was also wonderful. I have moderate DJD and chronic LB pain, their treatment was invaluable. If you have time they also have excellent onsite massage therapists. The only reason I stopped visiting is because I found another clinic that's 12 miles closer. I waited to experience several sessions before writing my review for Thrive Milpitas. Not 5 stars: 1000+ STARS!!! I have been to several chiropractors before. And while I fully believe in the treatment and science--I felt at other places I was rushed. Given adjustments and a couple of exercises. Plus, being sold on other services. Here at Thrive Milpitas, I enjoy them fully for the following reasons: 1. Their entire staff is supportive and welcoming. This is important. Because when you seek Chiropractic care, usually it's due to an injury (some are lucky and only use it to prevent injury and maladies). Physical injury causes emotional injury when it is severe. I feel they have mastered treatment from the minute you walk in the door. It's from the first hello and check-in; to the treatment, and everyone acknowledging your presence. The doctor-patient relationship is healing in itself. They all have been supportive of my healing journey. 2. This place contains healers. I've been treated by Dr. Saber & Dr. Kauffman. But also, their other staff has treated me too in a session. They all have made me feel supported in obtaining my personal goals. Both Doctors are kind, welcoming, understanding, and affirming. I really appreciate them for that. 3. They implement and use both traditional chiropractic bodywork, as well as other technologies. This really made an impression on me. They have integrated both traditional healing WITH technological healing. I've had their cold laser therapy. And reading on the science, I'm so glad they choose to use this treatment on me in conjunction with my other treatment modalities. 4. Thrive Milpitas offers other healing experiences such as massage; acupuncture; and more! I have not personally yet had those experiences with them--but I'm interested and because it's not sold or pushed on you, this intrigues me even more. It's simply brought to your awareness. And that is something I really cherish, appreciate, and respect. * When you walk into the establishment, to your right you can see all of their awards they have been granted by the city. The awards speak for themselves. 5. They offer INCREDIBLE packages. The transparency in their pricing is something only a high-level establishment can provide. In the past, I was surprised about bill fluctuations at other Chiropractic offices. There was no consistency, especially for the treatment I was receiving. Thrive Milpitas is sensitive to your needs...and sensitive to your wallet. And especially during these times, that's highly respectable. 6. On the first-initial visit, I cried. I came in with an injury with no range of motion. I was listened to, given an in-depth diagnostic test, explained their analysis--and was immediately worked on. I didn't expect that. I was adjusted; given warm compress; EMS; cold-laser therapy...I just didn't expect to be treated in such a thoughtful and healing way. Like I mentioned, other chiropractic places would give me an adjustment. Foam roller (which I have at home). And told to do stretches. Then sold for other services. This first impression at Thrive changed the way I see the chiropractic experience. 7. COVID-19 preparedness. The entire staff is sensitive to our current times. They temperature check; sanitize; keep others socially distant; the front desk has necessary plexiglass protection...at no point did I feel unsafe or that I was being put at risk. Thank you Dr. Saber; Dr. Kauffman; and all of the staff at Thrive Milpitas. You are all wonderful, kind, and you are all healers. I have been a patient for the last five years. I have gone to many different chiropractors and Dr. Kauffman is by far the best one. He and his staff actually care about how you are doing. I enjoy the whole process of relaxing your muscles, traction, laser stimulation and ultrasound before you get adjusted. I feel like I'm floating on air after every visit.
