    Daughter elated with cut

Can't recommend Val enough. Literally went to her in desperation when I cut my own hair (massive mistake) not only did she fix it she made a beautiful hair cut out of it. I ended up going back to her with my daughter and then again for my second hair cut (to maintain the adorable "fix" haircut lol). She's a wizard. Fair price and flexible schedule. She's just the best honestly.

I've been seeing Valerie as my hair stylist since she was at Capella Salon in Studio City. Since I've first come to her my hair has gone through dramatic changes, not simply by cut, but by overall hair health. Having curly hair is a challenge and a blessing at the same time and she simply KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING. I highly recommend her detoxify treatment service as well. I use product everyday and unfortunately the water coming from my shower is hard water. Being able to cleanse and remove the build up and minerals that have sat in my hair over the years has really improved the texture and shine of my curls. I've felt more confident than I have in years since I've been her client. Not only is she great as what she does but she's a wonderful person as well!

Valerie is hands down the best hair stylist I have ever met. For YEARS I've had a hard time finding the right salon, spending so much time and money going from stylist to stylist, and never feeling truly content or good about how my hair looked when I got out of the salon chair. I have really thick hair and it always had a some wave to it, but I always felt like it had a mind of its own and I didn't really know how to wear it naturally. When I told Valerie that, she said "girl, I think you actually have curly hair!!" I was surprised and admittedly a little skeptical at first, but I trusted her and had her give me my first curly cut and style. I was absolutely SHOCKED when I saw the results, and I couldn't believe that my hair was so naturally curly! Since I had no idea my hair was curly, Valerie took the time to inform me and help me understand how to style my curls. She told me what kind of products work best with my hair type and curl pattern, and she even gave me a mirror to hold while she styled my hair in the wash bowl, so I could see exactly what to do when I styled my curls at home. After I left the salon that day, I felt so confident and beautiful, and I was so happy that I could finally embrace my natural hair. After a few times of getting my hair cut with Valerie, I decided I wanted to switch it up and asked if we could do some color. I knew I wanted something natural and lighter, but didn't really know what to do beyond that. Valerie gave me highlights and toned them so that it complimented my complexion according to my seasonal color (I'm a winter!) and as always, I was beyond happy with the results. When you get your hair done at Nico Lev Salon, you don't just get a hair cut or hair color - you get a hair STYLE. Valerie is so knowledgeable and passionate about giving her clients a personalized look, and I cannot recommend this salon enough if you are looking to get your hair done here!

    A line curly cut

Valerie works magic! I don't trust anyone else to do my curly hair anymore. I love the intimate setting of her salon and how she individualizes what I need/my lifestyle to match my cut and style. I we went for an A-line cut, which is my first time having it and I love it! She educates you on curly hair techniques so that I can carryover at home and maintain my hair. Highly recommend!!

    After

I would give Val 6 stars if I could. Amazing haircut and style. Val is super knowledgeable and willing to share her expertise. She completely revolutionized how I think about my hair (see pics).

Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

Yuki should have warned me that my hair was too fine for this process instead of taking my money to ruin my hair. If she is so experienced and so great she should have known better and know that the process she was doing would ruin my hair. This is my warning to others that are going here to have straightening done. Don't rely on her to tell you it's not right for your hair. To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

I said I had another appt after but that would be fine. I arrived and sat down and waited. They said I was checked in. I waited one hour before going to the front desk to say that now, I would not have time to do the appt because, as I told them, I would have to leave for another appt. I had allotted 2 hours and now there was only 1 hour left and I had not even been seen or sent for hair washing. All the while I waited, I could see Sal doing at least 2 other people's hair. When I asked the front desk if I could reschedule, they said they would talk to him. Several minutes passed. Sal was aware that I was there, but chose not to speak to me himself. He chose not to even take two minutes to face me and apologize. He was going to Mexico the next night, and could only offer the next day during hours I had to work. The salon manager apologized for Sal and offered another hair dresser. I have curly hair and want someone experienced in curly hair- especially when the haircut is right before my wedding and will cost hundreds of dollars. I think the worst part was that Sal was right there but simply didn't have the courtesy to apologize. I will never return to this salon. As for my wedding in two weeks, I have asked my makeup artist to help me find someone.

My appt she got me back to my blonde I've been missing. I was in hawaii for some time and my hair was grown out from moving and just didn't find the right stylist. She brought me BACK. To a beautiful, very bright/light blonde! And my hair feels very healthy as well! She was so attentive, meticulous and so fun too talk with as well. I didn't realize or forgot they have parking in front and they will even run out to pay your meter for you if needed. I just parked in the neighborhood nearby. Salon vibes are so chill and inviting. Coffee and water provided too. A no pressure vibe which I loved. No product pushing, no pressure whatsoever when describing what you are trying to get. Sometimes I'm anxious with the salon because it's a lot when it comes to finding the right blonde or just awkward conversation. Not here! She works with you so well and you immediately feel comfortable walking into the salon and through the entire interaction. And just comfortable, fun environment while you're there! Fun conversation, every one was so incredibly nice. I also can't sit still for long- severe back problems and adhd so it was nice I could get up and move as needed. Slightly pricey but expected with the work she provided for myself.

This is not a high pressure sales environment. Obviously suggestions, opinions communicated etc...but the objective was not to sell me something or turn the chair over for the next client. No product pushing. No service pushing. No agenda pushing. Full stop. 2) Skill I've always thought of Blonding as a language; I now believe Caitlin wrote that language. She is 100% the doctor and the surgeon. I got exactly what | asked for. Read that again: EXACTLY what I asked for. Having experienced the accuracy of an exclusively blonde colorist, I cannot overstate that value. 3) Communication It's possible your colorist may have to interpret what you're asking for. It's possible this takes time. Cait spent time with me. She encouraged me to say more and made me feel comfortable (read: not-stupid) as I probably talked out of both sides of my mouth and stumbled through my wants, needs, pictures, let-downs, etc. Look, I don't care who's hair you've colored, or "red carpet" this, "social media following" that blah blee blah. All of your skill and knowledge and experience is lost on me if: I'm intimidated You have one eye on the clock for our entire consult You're annoyed with my inability to articulate Couple the thorough communication with the technical capability and B/B is in a whole other league, entirely. Caitlin, you should be really proud of this business. Ok. SO: I hesitate to comment on/share price and service-time because every blonde really is unique BUT since that's probably the info you're looking for, I'll say this: Re price: Not inexpensive ALTHOUGH more than fair (even before you consider comps at other salons) Re time: It takes as long as it takes. Dunno what else to say about that one. Its bleach, people. Maybe don't rush it? TL;DR? Um, "best". You get what you pay for. Proceed with confidence (and enthusiasm!) srsly though? Go back and read it, it's not that long.
