Audie assured me he could make them exactly as original and he would make the piping from scratch, so it would match the original covers and he would hand sew all the side corners and bottom of the backs. I made an appointment with him and dropped off the restored seat frames and left him with the original seat covers to copy and sent him a few photos of the seats before the covers were removed so he could copy the hand stitched sections. I also provided him with special order vinyl from SMS farbics in Oregon to match the original vinyl. Audie said it would cost about $2k, so I dropped the seats off on October 6th and he told me they would be done by the end of the month. I called back in November and he said he was almost ready to work on them. I called back in early December and he told me he would get started on them. A week later he told me they were done. It looked like he had slapped them together in a week. He used fat off the roll piping and didn't make it from scratch. He used hog rings to hold the seat back on. He put a seam in the middle of the front panel and on the top of the back, these seams were not on the original covers. There was a lump around the top of the seat bottoms and wrinkles around the base of the seats. I don't think he looked too closely at the original covers. After all this he wanted to charge me $3,800! I showed him all my issues and he told me he would redo them. I called SMS and ordered more vinyl which cost $1k to replace and the dye lot was slightly different and I already had door panels made using the original vinly. At this point I couldn't trust that he would do the job right and I couldn't loose another $1k in vinyl. I told him I wanted my $2k back that I had already paid him and I would eat the cost of the vinyl. He told me if I removed the covers and brought them back he would refund me. I removed the covers and brought them back and he told me he didn't have the money, but would in two weeks. I went back to his shop every two weeks for three months and he never had the money and wouldn't refund my money. I told him he could even pay me back in installments. Nothing. Now I'm out $3k and still need to get the seats covered. You might say that the seats looks ok, but they are not what I asked for. I was completely up front with what I wanted and I provided original seat covers to duplicate and he promised that he could do the job right. In the end all he did was a quick slap it together job to get it done and wanted to charge me double for poor work.

Just completed work on my 1968 Camaro Z28. B&T was recommended to me by Steve's Upholstery…read more Vehicle was a nut and bolt restoration that came out of Wyoming/Elko Nevada in 2017. I knew there were some issues with the vehicle when I purchased it. Steve's Upholstery took care of the majority of interior issues when I first got it. After putting some miles on the vehicle over three years, I took it to B&T for front brakes, emergency brake work, divorce choke install, install tach, speedo fix, and extend seat slides. They completed this work and had some observations/recommendations which follow. Next stage was to fix head gaskets, header gaskets, timing chain gasket, rear seal, and differential leaks. Did a pressure charge on the cooling system prior to work to confirm leaks. Tore down the engine, and inspected oil pan. Discovered paint residue and metallics in pan. Main Main bearings were scored, so authorized replacement. During reassembly they upgraded minor components they thought should be done (oil pressure switch, fuel pump push rod). During one of my inspections during work, we noted that there were some exhaust leaks at the muffler welds and other points. They dissasembeled, cleaned, and rewelded at a number of areas, repainting after the work. Mason and Leighton were very communicative through the whole process, and requoted work when items were added. Took care to use correct components to retain originality of car. Great shop!

Best way is to let the customers tell it...check out the Better Business Bureau's website for B&T Custom in Sparks Nevada. Right now there are 4 1-star ratings? Those customers descriptions of what has happened to them, as well as the way that this family treats their employees, in my opinion is the tip of the iceberg. Dangerous and illegal workmanship is being pushed out the door. My refusal to go along with it, led to my termination on a Trumped up Complaint that is nothing short of an outright lie... one of dozens upon dozens. Do business at your own risk with these people.
