I guess this place doesn't know what big dogs look like? Was he barking because he was scared? Yes. Does it sound scarier and louder than usual because he's a 130lb dog? Yes. My dog is in no way aggressive nor has he ever been in any setting. Yes, he was muzzled because he barks very loud and that helps mitigate that. Contrary to popular belief, muzzles are not just for aggressive dogs. You would think that those working in this profession would know that. Once we left the room, he was silent and behaved. While in the exam room, I was met with the excuse of "we're short staffed" at least twice in the 5 minutes we were there. Didn't even buckle my seatbelt before I got a call to get him because he was being "very aggressive". Again, the building was silent as I left so I know he wasn't displaying any aggression or even barking. It was evident that these two girls didn't want to deal with my dog. Yes he's a big dog and sounds scary but he isn't, he was scared. I decided to go with this place because it was inexpensive. Big mistake. Pay more money and take your pets elsewhere. Not to mention I didn't receive a confirmation call the day before or any instruction for food or drink for the night before, like I was told I would.

Noticed while filling out paperwork that LLAC asked for a driver's license number. I saw no reason whatsoever to fill in my driver's license number since I was paying with a credit card and considered my driver's license number as very private information. Believe it or not, the vet would not see my dog at all until I gave them my driver's license number (ARE YOU KIDDING??? WHERE ARE YOUR PRIORITIES???). In fact, they told me to find another animal clinic if I didn't give them my number. Under significant protest, I filled out the number for the sake of the dog. I could not believe they were so insensitive as to not care for the dog when I did not want to give such personally identifiable information as my driver's license to LLAC. They said the info would go to their HQ in Colorado, which is even more reason for me not to give my number. The vet was great and very caring, but this company policy really stinks. I checked with another animal clinic in Belen, who said they do NOT require a Driver's License number on their accounts. I quickly signed up for future visits there, and I have no intention of going back to LLAC. Really liked the vet at LLAC, but I was very disgusted with their policy. I felt as though I was held hostage if I wanted to have my dog's infection treated.

We were referred to St. Francis Animal Clinic from a family friend recently after we adopted a dog…read more I of course want the best for our new pup, but budget was a concern because my late dogs previous vet was extremely expensive and I felt like the service was always sub-par. We were pleasantly surprised by the affordability of St. Francis, but more importantly by the exceptional service. From the lady thay checks you in at the front desk to the vet. Everybody was incredibly kind to our Roxy who was apprehensive and nervous. By about mid-way through the appointment Roxy had calmed down a ton because of all of the love and affection she was receiving from the staff. She got her shots updated and a clean bill of health. St. Francis has earned our trust and will now be the go to veterinarian for all of our pets.

Dr. Jackson came highly recommended from the local veterinarian office that we have used. We have a pretty cool cat, but you try to put her in a carrier or take her to the vet she becomes quite the feisty animal. Honestly, just straight aggressive and spazzy. After an unsuccessful attempt to get her into the carrier and to the vet, I was a little panicked because we had travel coming up and needed her seen prior to that. We called Dr. Jackson and she fit us in right away. Even with the warning that our cat could be aggressive and feisty with vets, she still scheduled a home visit and tried to examine her gently at the onset. Our cat was her feisty self and misbehaved the entire time. They worked very quickly and efficiently to get the work done in the most calm manner possible. Within 20 to 30 minutes he had nails clipped, full exam, vaccination, and a complete vet visit. I honestly could not be more impressed! And a cherry on the cake is how kind, understanding, and attentive Dr. Jackson is. Well, a couple months later, my dog was having an emergency episode during business hours so I was calling around trying to get him in somewhere. Bosque has an emergency extension but I called that and the main line 5-6 times and got no answer. This vet is like, right next door to my house so I just drive over there. I asked the receptionist if there was something wrong with their phones because I've been trying to call and couldn't get an answer and she or he or whatever immediately caught an attitude. When it was stated that they were busy, I looked around and said I dont see anyone in here. I don't hear your phone ringing off the hook. I explained that it was an emergency and so they went to get the doctor begrudgingly. When the doctor came out, it was apparent that she was told I was a problem or something because when I explained my frustration with not being able to get through with an and emergency and then being treated rudely by the receptionist, she put her hand up to stop me from speaking and asked me what was going on with my dog. I gave her the whole spiel only for her to tell me they couldn't see me. These people are lazy, they lack emotional intelligence and empathy and I will never return or recommend them. Matter of fact, I will actively deter my friends and family to save them the frustration. I recommend Los Lunas Animal Clinic or Arrow Animal Hospital. They are both fantastic.

Update - April 28, 2026 My puppy has been limping and holding her paw up while walking, so I called the day prior and spoke with Matthew, who was professional and helpful. He advised me to call at 7:30 a.m. to arrange a drop-off for evaluation. I followed those instructions exactly. I arrived at 7:30 a.m., called, left a message, waited for them to open, and called again. After waiting, I went inside to follow up and was told that if I came in before receiving a callback, I would be charged an additional fee and needed to go back outside and call again. I complied and called again, but after additional waiting, I called once more because I needed to leave for work. At that point, Bernice told me she had until 9:00 a.m. to call me back, in a dismissive and hostile tone. For context, I have been a long-term client with five pets currently under care, along with multiple pets prior to them. I ultimately had to leave. Shortly after getting into Albuquerque, I received a callback asking if I could return by 9:30. That was not feasible given the earlier delays and lack of accommodation. I want to acknowledge and thank Dr. Abernathy for the consistent care he has provided over the years, and Matthew for his professionalism. However, ongoing issues with front desk staff--specifically Bernice and Lexi--have made the overall experience difficult enough that I will be seeking care elsewhere. It is unfortunate to leave a provider I trust due to customer service concerns, but the inconsistency at the front desk has reached a point where it outweighs the quality of care.
