"Serious drinks" is their motto, and I love the vibe. If one of their many menu items doesn't appeal to you, they have a unique experience of creating custom cocktails. You choose a few adjectives from a list and the bartender will delight you with a surprise drink. Additionally, you can order off-menu since they have a full bar. I enjoyed a couple of Old Fashioneds, and they were well made. Their version is missing the cherry, but still I'd order them again happily! Hands down our favorite bar in town! We have been in Tulsa for many years and haven't found a bar that makes better drinks than Valkyrie. If you are a cocktail aficionado then this place is for you! The cocktail menu changes every season but don't feel obligated to follow the menu. They have the option to tell your bartender about what you are in the mood for with over a dozen key words like "fruity", "smoky", or "refreshing" and your bartender will make up a drink just for you! A few favorites there are the classic "El Diablo" - with Sombre Mezcal, tequila, crème de cassis and home made ginger beer - and the Port-au Prince a great rum drink with lemon juice. The only issue is that the place is so good that it is packed on the weekends! So make sure to arrive early on Friday-Saturday nights if you want a seat. The bar is fairly small and only accommodate about 60-70 people. Otherwise this is a perfect place to unwind and socialize! read more

Tulsa Oklahoma ! Congrats for having one of the best bourbon bars and bartenders around the country. If you like bourbon and a PERFECT old fashioned or other drinks period this place is a must go to location. My colleague and friend Paul found this place on a business trip. Suggested I go and I was grateful i did for an after dinner drink . Funny thing is I really don't like bourbon as a go to drink I like gin tequila and wine. But per Paul's suggestion I went here and now have the bench mark set for the perfect old fashioned and other bourbons . Plus holy cow when a drinks good you order a few more and shoot before you know it your ubering to the hotel . I wish this place was in Detroit they could teach some places a few lessons . They have this really cool thing where you list a few personality traits (i.e. playful, complex, etc) and/or tastes you like (i.e. sour, sweet, fruity) from a small prompt and they make a drink based on a what you select. It's a fun thing to buy someone a drink like that on a special occasion, such as a birthday. The drinks are high quality, moderately-priced, and the place is usually packed so going with a group larger that 3 people on a weekend will make it hard to find seating. Never have I ever really gotten into cocktails... until now. Valkryie takes pride in the craft of building a pure and built to perfection cocktail. The staff, very unassuming and kind, will happily share with you how a drink is made and make sure you order exactly what you fancy. For example, I walked in last Saturday as the sun was beaming. I wanted to try a new cocktail, so I said I would like a strong drink, but not one that was too sweet that would weigh me down, and definitely not one that would make me feel warmer. And, voila! A perfect daiquiri appeared before my eyes made with Rhum Barancourt that had been aged 8 years. Whether it be a beer, cocktail, or wine -this place will tickle a whole party's tastebuds. The space is welcoming and sophisticated all at the same time with high quality brown leather couches, high tables, and bar seating. I cannot say enough great things about this place - it's my Cheers bar in Tulsa, Oklahoma with outstanding drinks. If you are a cocktail fan, you won't find better ones anywhere, of this I am sure (and I travel often). The menu changes often, but you can always special request your favorite cocktail even if it has cycled off the board. For beer and wine fans, the offering isn't huge, but you will find into be truly unique and fun if you enjoy trying new things. Also, my husband and I love Reed, by far our favorite bartender in all of Tulsa. If you are hungry, just hop across the street to Laffa and enjoy the walk-up falafel window before or after you drinks. ***Another Note: Fire Marshall capacity at this place is low at 80 people, which means they can easily hit capacity by 9:30pm on weekends. They do serve beer and wine but the forte is clearly the cocktail. All the bar staff are VERY knowledgeable and mix a very fine drink. We happened to find Valkyrie during our latest visit to Tulsa over Thanksgiving and vowed to return over Christmas break. Right in the heart of the Tulsa Art District, Valkyrie's bar sign caught my eye since Thor: Ragnarok is one of my fav Marvel movies and the Valkyrie are the kickass lady warriors of Asgard. I digress. The interior is modern rustic and comfortable, the cocktails are strong and delicious- (I'm loving their hot drinks; mulled wine and wassail) and the service is great. This place rules and it rules hard. I am someone who appreciates a fine crafted cocktail and even more so a well crafted beer and if there's somewhere to offer me that, it is here. I am already a regular at Vintage 1740 but this place definitely suits my personality more, it is laid back, in a great location (Brady District) and the crowd, while not abundant was definitely more casual. When I walked in they were playing The Ramones, there was immediate approval on my part and definitely made me feel welcome. They've got a shaken side of their menu and a stirred side, love that touch. I tried a few cocktails and the staff seemed to be knowledgeable in being able to help me choose. I am well read when it comes to bitters, liqueurs, liquors etc, but it is nice to hear the opinion of someone else at times when me spending $10 on a beverage is involved and they've tried it before. The seating is not necessarily ideal for small groups, but for big groups there is 3 large booths and a large couch. For even smaller there is a few small couches and then the entire length of the bar (typical L shape) to enjoy. Staff seemed attentive for the most part but I felt that if there was that many more people they would've lacked in that department. Everything in order, everything clean, cool AC and good music. The bathrooms were simple and clean, only one stall (in the ladies) however you can stare at a great poster of Ryan Gosling while you pee so instant win there. To say I'll be back over and over is an understatement, hell you will probably see me there if you, yes you...stop by. My friends & I walked in, had a seat & our server chatted with us about the cocktail menu. We really didn't know what to get, so we told the waiter to "surprise us" (risky, I know- but it felt like a good risk to take.) He got a feel for what we're usually into & let us know that he will be back with our drinks. A few minutes later, he arrived with three glasses & described what they were. I was completely floored! Valkyrie is excellence. Pure, craft-cocktailery(I'm so sure that's a word, i'm not even going to look it up). These guys have a passion for what they do, and that is, creating outstanding, classic-yet-invigorated spins on the cocktail. They make their own Ginger Beer, as well as Cola. Both of which are truly breathtaking. Any drinks produced with these are special, but I must highlight the "Dark and Stormy": It's made with Kraken Black Spiced Rum and Valkyrie's Ginger Beer. It's difficult to accurately describe the refreshing deliciousness of this drink, without having two or three to "refresh" my memory. Recently, I embarked on a "Manhattan Tour" of the Brady District. The plan was to see who serves the best Manhattan. Valkyrie was one of the two winners that night. Their version of the drink is unique, while slickly retaining it's originality. If that makes sense? If you want to experience a different, unique, upscale way to drink, Valkyrie Bar might be the place you want to hit up. The place itself is very detailed and modern. The bar area is adorned with tall wooden shelves with each bottle of liquored displayed and in the middle is a chalk board with each section of its own. First section has your mixed drinks, Second section has your list of beers, and the last area has your wines. The drinks themselves are very expensive $9-10. This is more than your typical whiskey and coke or whatever typical drink you buy at any other bar. The mixed drinks themselves are complex and use fresh ingredients to create a unique drink you've never had before. They have some interesting things they grind, peel, and mix to create a drink. Even the ice cubes are like perfect cubes. The mixologists are very knowledge and will walk you through a drink based on what you've liked in the past and they will suggest something you like. Although pricey, it's clear that one drink will get you pretty tipsy, verses having to down 2 drinks to get the same effect. So if you want a new experience, check out Valkyrie. read more
