I came across The Barn at Cornerstone and contacted Kim immediately. I was stressed and in full panic mode but as soon as I talked to her she began putting me at ease. She explained that although the Barn was not quite completed she would do anything in her power to help make this work. The day I visited her, the barn had no electricity. We talked through it and decided to rent a generator. The barn was still in progress but was already beautiful and rustic and I could envision something truly special there. Kim and her husband, Ray, worked tirelessly and two days later when we arrived to decorate and rehearse, the Barn not only had electricity but beautiful chandeliers were hung. We had a wonderful rehearsal dinner outdoors at the lodge that evening. The setting was gorgeous and the grounds were lovely. Ray continued working on the barn up until the afternoon of the wedding and Kim attended to every detail and also coordinated with my caterer. She took so much work and worry off my hands and allowed me to enjoy every moment. We ended up having the most beautiful, intimate wedding that evening. Rain fell heavy on the roof of the barn as they took their vows. It was absolutely magical. I know that once the barn is complete it will be one of the best venues around. There are beautiful venues everywhere but you will be hard pressed to find people like Kim and Ray. I cannot express my gratitude enough.

The first attempt at using the shower was shocking. It was too small for even my 8 year old! We tried to keep busy and spent very little time in the cabin, we basically just slept here. We left on Tuesday 11/22 and today we received an email stating they were charging us $257 in damages. I'm including costs. - $49 charge for dirty towels (they said they are stained) however, they are pictured on the cabin floor and weren't washed. - $49 to replace a broken curtain rod (nothing was broken, it looks like a ring slid off the end). - $159 for a snagged rug runner - that was Walmart quality, not wort $159. - $35 charge for trash removal - there were no instructions on what to do with trash so I took the two trash bags and put them on the front porch for easy removal. They said we broke a fishing pole but it was a cheap fishing pole that I purchased, used, and then discarded of because we didn't want to bring it home. This does not seem fair at all! We are in shock that a business would operate like this! This is not $257 worth of damage, this is robbery!

We woke to a message from them the morning of the event, as we were evacuating our flooding wedding venue that read "What is your plan for today? Are you looking at rescheduling?  At this point is is unsafe for anyone to be on the roads, so we are wondering what the plan is! Thanks so much, stay safe!" Clearly, our focus was on our safety and our loved ones, and once we made it to safety we knew there was no way we would be having our wedding on this day. We then told our day of coordinator, once we got cell service briefly, to tell everyone to stay home. We understand they spent money on the food, we by no means expected a full refund. But like our other local vendors, who had a similar policy, we expected a partial refund. My advice, book with the utmost caution and know zero grace will be given.m Reply to Azafran response: The reason for a three week delay in requesting a partial refund was out of respect for you and your business. I saw that your kitchen was flooded and decided it would be best to wait to reach out to give you time to cleanup and recover. My wife and I live here, we are apart of this community, we wanted to wait for a more appropriate time to discuss business, seeing the devastation our community has faced, including your business. In my initial email I never once "demanded" a refund. I requested a partial refund, fully understanding we would be paying for the food cost your company had already absorbed to cater our event, given we never received the product due to a natural disaster out of either party's control, we felt a partial refund request was within reason. It is incredibly misleading to label our cancellation message as last minute. At 7:45am we received a message from you saying that it was unsafe for anyone to be on the roads. You insinuated that it would be impossible to cater our event with that message. Again, we were evacuating our flooding venue with zero cell phone service, trying to communicate with not only our vendors, but also our family and friends. Once we received cell service, we reached our day of coordinator, who communicated with everyone to stay home, I am posting this review to let potential customers know that with Azafran they are not sent a contract full of clauses to sign. They are only sent an invoice with a price. It is only on the bottom of the website that you will learn that they offer no refunds for inclimate weather, again including natural disasters. We want future customers to understand that Azafran will show you zero grace and is unwilling to reach a compromise.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful with ample seating, both near the water and across the yard near the stage. The staff was great about consistently cleaning up to keep away bees, or any sort of other pests. It was lovely to see so many families and even dogs which made it a more casual and fun experience overall. We tried the dry flight and overall really enjoyed it! We are usually red wine drinkers, but overall actually preferred the whites instead. Only negative was that they didn't have any of the umbrellas set up at the tables and the sun was quite bright and hot that day so it was difficult to find a location with shade and a table. We had to choose two chairs under some shade and use a third chair as a temporary table which made our experience a little less comfortable. We ended up purchasing two bottles of the white wines from our flight and would highly recommend others coming back in the future.

It felt as if there was a piece of foam laid over the mattress in order to extend its life. In regard to the photos, a deep cleaning is in order, attention to detail as well as fresh paint and we would happily pay more in order to stay at such a North Carolina landmark.
