There were alpacas - couldn't touch them that day, there was a pot belly pig, lots of goats, one cow and 2 horses. The tour consisted of more walking around the farm than learning. I'm sorry - I just thought for the amount of time it took to get there and at 20$ per person it would be more informative.

I have attached a few photos of areas needing attention but the most notable was the bed. My husband and I could not stay another night on this mattress. It has no center support and we kept rolling towards the center all night. Additionally it is too soft. Perhaps firmness is of personal preference, however, it truly is past its useful life. It felt as if there was a piece of foam laid over the mattress in order to extend its life. In regard to the photos, a deep cleaning is in order, attention to detail as well as fresh paint and we would happily pay more in order to stay at such a North Carolina landmark. After leaving Mast General Store, we tried to map the Jerky Outpost but our reception was so bad, the maps on our phone did not work. Please keep this in mind when visiting the area, it is very remote. We made the wrong initial turn leaving Mast and heading towards Boone, and had to stop to ask directions. We found our way and came upon the Jerky Outpost. We drove up the driveway and parked in the small parking lot, with fewer than 10 spaces. We proceeded to the building which had been designed to look like three different old buildings. Once inside, the structure appears to be one building. There is jerky all over the place, along walls, on tables and also includes a large variety of different BBQ and hot sauces, nuts, snack foods and swag. We walked around a bit, selected a few items and paid at the counter. The prices seemed reasonable and the man at the counter was friendly and helpful. This was a pretty cool experience in a place you never would have expected. This is also a great place to pick up some gift items you might not see again.

We had an outdoor wedding with 100 guests planned for my daughter May 12, 2017 in Boone, NC. As…read morethe forecast grew more and more grim for that day, we had to make the decision to change venues three days before the wedding. I came across The Barn at Cornerstone and contacted Kim immediately. I was stressed and in full panic mode but as soon as I talked to her she began putting me at ease. She explained that although the Barn was not quite completed she would do anything in her power to help make this work. The day I visited her, the barn had no electricity. We talked through it and decided to rent a generator. The barn was still in progress but was already beautiful and rustic and I could envision something truly special there. Kim and her husband, Ray, worked tirelessly and two days later when we arrived to decorate and rehearse, the Barn not only had electricity but beautiful chandeliers were hung. We had a wonderful rehearsal dinner outdoors at the lodge that evening. The setting was gorgeous and the grounds were lovely. Ray continued working on the barn up until the afternoon of the wedding and Kim attended to every detail and also coordinated with my caterer. She took so much work and worry off my hands and allowed me to enjoy every moment. We ended up having the most beautiful, intimate wedding that evening. Rain fell heavy on the roof of the barn as they took their vows. It was absolutely magical. I know that once the barn is complete it will be one of the best venues around. There are beautiful venues everywhere but you will be hard pressed to find people like Kim and Ray. I cannot express my gratitude enough.
