Everything we ate starting with the chips and salsa were on point. On my yummy meter Valle Grullense get a 10. I had Caldo de Res, my husband ordered tortilla soup and steak fajitas. I think they had my Grandma in the kitchen cooking. The fajitas are so savory and tender, beans and rice perfect. Caldo made me warm and cuddly. My husband didn't talk while eating the tortilla soup so you know it was good. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place to everyone. The menu had many items we had not heard of, but had good descriptions. Our dinner was delicious... probably the best salsa I've ever had. My "wet" burrito (Chile verde) was so good, but I had ordered it with green sauce and it came out with the red sauce. I mentioned that, but just asked for a side of the green sauce. Husband reported that his Enchiladas were equally as good. Service was slow as our server (youngish with yellow glittered eyes) was a bit of a sloth. We watched as other servers were hustling and providing quick response to their tables, even flagging one over to ask for more chips and salsa as we hadn't seen our server for quite some time. Today was the second time I've been here. The first time my son got a cheese enchilada rice and beans. He loved it. I got the chile verde rice and beans. It was good. Not extraordinary, but good. Today I got the Verde molcajete mixto. I've never had a molcajete with green sauce. It was SO good but they definitely need to switch from the shredded cheese they put on top to queso fresco. I think it would have been even better. Their chips and salsa are really good as well. Wait staff wasn't too bad but we seemed to keep having to ask random servers for things because we couldn't ever see ours. Been to this location twice and it is pretty decent! Our first time there we were sat near the kitchen where I got to witness them just pouring a costco sized bag of chips into a warmer which was unfortunate and I do wish they would take the time to make fresh chips. We were all given decent sized plates as well as drinks. Unfortunately the server that we did have continued to forget our drinks, refill water, or even ask if we needed anything else. The second time we were there for a larger event and they treated us completely different. We ordered the party platters which were okay but seemed to be completely thrown together at the last minute with the way they looked. Was in the mood for...Something tonight. I had seen this place open up recently and decided to give it shot. The atmosphere was loud, people talking loudly, music playing loudly, just loud. We were seated pretty much as soon as we entered. The table needed to be cleaned, and we weren't given silverware right away. Our drink order was taken quickly enough and we were amazed at the size of the menu. So many items! Overwhelmed by the large menu at first, my boyfriend decided to order a standard Margarita to test the bar. The drink was only $6 and we wondered how they were selling drinks for so cheap. We soon found out. When the drink came we could immediately tell they had used sour mix. Not only that but the drink was cloudy and had a funky smell to it. Like it had been mixed with dish water somehow. The color of the drink was neon green and looked more like a Melon Ball than a Margarita. Tip: stay away from the drinks, unless you want them on the cheap. We ordered our food, and when it was brought to us we were actually really happy. Apparently they have homemade corn tortillas. Pretty tasty, well seasoned but a little on the thick side. Still, very tasty. I ordered the Chile Verde plate and enjoyed everything. The pork was still tender, spicy and saucy, and the beans and rice were tasty. My boyfriend ordered the tacos al pastor and enjoyed them. I was told to "sit at a small table over there" I'm not sure where over there was but I wandered around and found my own seat. I'm not sure where over was but at least I was out of the way. My waitress was extremely friendly and tried really hard to make my visit better. She knew I was less than happy. Since this is a New Mexican restaurant in Hanford, my wife and I thought we would give it a test. Mexican food is a big deal in the valley, and it takes a lot to make a great restaurant. Needless to say, this restaurant did not disappoint on any levels. We started off with drinks and chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and tasty, and the salsa was good with a little kick. We actually asked for some of the salsa verde, which was amazing! We ate a whole cup of it and asked some more. For drinks, I ordered a Negra Modelo on draft and my wife ordered a Miami Vice. My modelo was fresh and smooth, and the vice was big and tasty. And the price, couldn't beat it. 4.25 for a draft beer and 5.99 for a tall vice. Amazing drinks and great price! Now to the food - which was the highlight of the night. We both ordered the wet burritos with green salsa. I ordered carnitas she ordered asada, and both were out of this world. The meat was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and everything else in the burritos were perfectly balanced. For the price (7.99) we got a huge burrito that took up an entire plate. I stopped short of licking the extra salsa verde off the plate! To top it off, the service was spectacular. We came on a Sunday night, and our server was spot on with orders and drinks, and even refilled our chips without hesitation. One of the best experiences I have had in a Mexican restaurant in quite some time. Our bill was $35.00 including two drinks, meals, and tip. Very reasonable especially with two drinks from the bar.
