I see all the good reviews on here about this place, but unfortunately I did not have the same experience. I have a 1992 Toyota tercel. They charged my $80 and my smog failed. I took it to get fixed, including the timing, and took it back here to get it retested which cost me ANOTHER $40 dollars, and they failed the timing AGAIN after I just had it fixed. He told me there were SEVERAL notches in my pulley, I had TWO separate mechanics check that an there was only ONE notch. They were not that friendly, and when I took my car to Marin Smog, they charged me only $40, including my certificate, and passed my car like it should have the second time around. I would not give a referral to this business. BTW, there are plenty of smog places in Vallejo that do FREE retests. This guys told me that if i came back a THIRD time, that he would only charge me $10. I do believe I just got ripped off by this business. read more

This place is the absolute best in the biz!!! 4 real I've been bringing all my cars here for a couple of years now and I do a lot of wheeling and dealing so I see them about 4 times a year recently I brought in my 92 Cadillac and I can't say enough about the smog tecs bottom line they know what they are doing my Cadillac had some trouble passing but the tec took the time and didn't give up until it passed! They genuinely and actually want your car to pass smog! I love this place and appreciate they're hard work I've been to other places where the sec it don't pass they give up and collect full payment these guys have a coupon out there for the newer cars if it don't pass u don't pay! Quick, friendly, great service. I woke up and googled Vallejo smog, and this was the first result that came up. I read a few reviews and was sold. As soon as I stepped out the car, I was greeted and welcomed by Richard. This man knows his stuff and was super quick. I felt like I was barely there 5 minutes, but I guess it was long enough for him to check everything out and give my car clearance. I took my car here after failing at a shop in Fairfield. I have been here before and always got top notch service. Rich sat me down and explained the problem with the first test failing and suggested I retest it. He found an issue with the EGR hose and told me to go to Nissan and get the hose and replace then bring it back. It passed on the second test with flying colors. The first place told me that the "timing" was way off and that's why it failed. Rich says the "timing" isn't even checked on this year Nissan. Rich is very honest and knows what he is doing. The shop is very fast. Bottom line, while it may be higher priced than other places around, it is by far the best. You get what you pay for. Quick service, but more importantly, HONESTY! They do things the right way. Don't waste your time looking for the bargains, come here first and get it done right. read more

I called to see if they were open today MLK holiday; glad to know they were. I then went and after I parked, the technician at the bay greeted me right away. He asked for my key right away so he could get started and then directed me to the office for the paperwork. That was really a time saving step for the customer. When I walked into the office, I was greeted right away by Kurt. He took my coupon and DMV renewal registration form. It only about 15 seconds to complete the paperwork. He immediately took the form to the technician. In just less than 10 minutes, the smog check was done. My entire visit, including payment processing, took less than 15 minutes! Amazing!!! Both gentlemen (Kurt and Edward) were courteous, professional, friendly, and awesome to work with. The visit was short but the quality of service was excellent. On my way to my car at the parking lot, Edward who was at the bay thanked me for the business. My cars only get smogged every two years and now I want it smogged every year so I can give them more business. I will definitely recommend them to family and friends, and hope this review will help. I used a Yelp check-in to get my smog check and a discount which helped with the high cost of this necessity. Their front desk person was very nice and friendly. I was the second person at the shop that morning then others came in. They took my car in almost immediately after I arrived but, after seeing the person who was there before me leave, then the four people who were there after me leave, I started to get concerned. I asked why everyone who came after me were already gone and I was still waiting. It took another 15 minutes to get someone to explain that the machine wasn't reading my car correctly. In reality, they could have told me my car failed and sent me off to get repairs and then get paid for a re-check but they didn't. Yes, the wait was long for me but ultimately, I got my smog check done and sent to the DMV. The place is clean and quiet and a pleasant place to wait and take time to smell the roses (literally) since they have beautiful rose bushes in their parking area. read more

They were done in 10 minutes, longer than it took me to drive over there. The employees are very friendly and waiting room is nice and clean. I found Vallejo Smog Test Only Center on Yelp and decided to check it out, as it was that dreaded time to smog & register my car again. I found/printed the coupon from their website and expected to find a bunch of hidden fees, service charges, etc... but NOT ONE! No questions asked...30% off!!! I think my jaw literally dropped. This place is incredibly professional, polite, and knowledgeable. Not to mention very quick! I was ready to settle down in their waiting room, and in 15 minutes (max) they were done, and I was painlessly smogged by some of the nicest technicians I've had the pleasure of meeting. I walked in for a smog test and the receptionist was more interested in her phone conversation regarding her lunch order than taking care of us. I walked in front of her several times with my child and she not once stopped her conversation. After 10 minutes of waiting for some sort of acknowledgement, I walked out and she still didnt say anything. First, I got a quote from the owner using the yelp app and the owner was quick to reply. Without an appointment (I was in the parking lot before they opened) they said it would take 10-15 minutes to do the smog test and the person working the front desk was very friendly. My emissions passed but I needed to get my timing belt fixed and they gave the current degrees it was at/what degrees it needed to be adjusted to. I asked where they would recommend that I go and they had a list of repair shops ready. I called the first place on their list (5 mins away from smog center), that shop took me in and repaired it within a hour and half. I came back and it passed the 2nd time!!! Each smog test was about $55-$60 each with yelp discount (ask for a quote for your car's specific model/make and if they're still honoring that coupon), which is a steal considering that a quote from another smog test center in vallejo was $100 for one test. I was also overhearing the other customers saying they've been bringing in multiple cars for years to this smog center which was comforting as a customer because of how much a pain in the butt smog tests can be. They were friendly, honest, and made the process a lot easier...even when the front desk employee had to break the news the first time around that my car failed the smog test lol Thanks Vallejo Smog Test! I did my smog check here because it had such good reviews, and there was a yelp review that said, "no pass, no pay." I never expected my car to fail the test, but there's always that fear in the back of your head, you know what I mean? Well, guess what? First time ever, I failed my test. I had switched out my car battery that morning, and apparently that erases some critical data from the car's computer that you need for a smog test. I learned from the smog technician that you have to drive at freeway speeds for a certain amount of miles (anywhere from 20-200) to get that data back into the computer to pass the test. I figured, ok, that sucks, but no pass/no pay, so no big deal. Well, that was wrong, you DO HAVE TO PAY IF YOU FAIL, it even says so on the work order you have to sign before they do the work. So, my bad for assuming some random yelper was correct and not reading the paper I signed. The good news is that once you have gone and driven those freeway miles, you can come back, they will hook up the computer to your car before they do the test which lets them know if you have enough data for the test or not, and if you do, only then will they do the re-test, which costs a lot less (not free, but a lot cheaper). It would've been super great if they (or any smog check station, really) would include a standard question or two before they run the test, like, "Have you recently had a dead battery, or changed it out? If so, you're gonna fail the test." All that being said, the facility is really nice and clean, the employees are extremely friendly and helpful, and the service is very fast. You should be aware that the test is going to cost about $85 for a basic sedan without any coupon, but go to their website and print out a coupon and BAM, minus $30 from the bill. All in all, if your car is good to go and you have the coupon printed out, this is a great place to go. read more

So after years of going to cheap sketchy gas station type places with a coupon around Vallejo I started going to Vallejo Smog Test Only about 5 years ago. Have always had great and quick service from them...they've always been easy going and had a no nonsense attitude and the one time I had a vehicle fail(an 89 Mitsubishi truck) they were extremely helpful with recommending where to take it to get it fixed. But this morning I had the BEST experience yet with them. Their hours on Saturday start at 7 30 but when I rolled up at 7:05 trying to be first in line I found the owner Richard already there and opening up for the day. I was greeted immediately and actually got my test done and was out of there BEFORE 7 30. Where else does that happen in Vallejo?...that's right...NO WHERE! With the coupon I got from their website($30 off) the test was only $55...maybe a little more than some other places around town but I am always down to pay a little more for good, prompt and professional service. I will never go anywhere else for a smog service...hands down the best place in town by a country mile. read more

best smog place ever...just had to bring my truck back for the 2nd time. they found all my old records from my previous trips to the smog shop with multiple cars, let them know I found them on yelp, hooked me up with a good discount like they always do for their customers. nice part is that the wait at the DMV was stupid long, so while waiting, went and got the truck smogged, it took just a few minutes, went back to the DMV and still had to wait.
