Wow! Richard the owner gave such exceptional customer service. The smog check retest of my vehicle (Nissan Pathfinder 2009) still failed but at least he was able to explain to me first hand with the diagnostic tool what's going on and what I can do about it which I appreciate. There's not a lot of business out there that gives this kind of customer service and he does listen to customers issue (and yes, he reads Yelp reviews =)). I will follow his recommendations and hopefully my vehicle will pass or I will buy a new vehicle hahahaha...it's a good excuse, right? This place is highly recommended!!! Wow!! I saw that this place has 5-Stars and I see why. Right when I walked in, the woman working the counter was extremely nice. I walked in at 4:20, ten minutes before they take in any cars for a smog. The woman was funny and easy to talk to. She wasn't burnt out or rude even though I came in close to closing. I was told my car would be ready in about 15 minutes! I decided to write the review before I even got my car back because the service was so great. I am pleased. I was expecting to be here for some time-- even brought my work. The gentleman doing my smog test was out getting my car immediately when I walked in. I was a little worried when I didn't see the guys I knew before. I have been going here for 6+ years. This place ripped me off by failing my car on a previously disconnected battery. Said they would only charge me $36 dollars for retest. I just paid them$50+!!!! Btw this had happened with old owners and they just told me to return later for a smog (drive car 100 miles) test, no extra charge!!! Found a great place AND cheaper by Solano County Superior court house. Also the Times-Herald quote in the ad of "Grapevine" boasting "The Best of 2010,11,12 and 2017" was sooo long ago with the old fisherman owner. Sorry new owners, you lost 2 cars. I had the best experience at the Vallejo Smog Test Only Center. I pulled into a parking spot and Richard immediately walked outside and greeted me. I gave him my paperwork and sat down in the lobby. About 15 mins later (or even less, I think) he walked in, handed me my stuff and rung me up. With this place being so close to DMV, I was able to get a smog check and update my registration in 20 minutes! Amazing. This is the place to go. He did everything lickety split and then as though THAT weren't enough, I peaked outside to see if my car was done and he was giving my tires a very much needed fill!! WHAT A GREAT PLACE!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER CAR! They failed the smog test just because they can't find the ARB EO on the car's original catalytic converter. Everything else passed including emission test, but failed on visual test. Now they're saying that I need a new catalytic converter. My car runs fine and has low mileage. I will report this to DMV. UPDATE: If you guys had let the customers with old cars know about this new state requirement before running the test, then I would understand. That would have given me an option to continue with the smog test or not continue with it. But instead, you accepted the smog test knowing it's an old car that may not have the ARB EO number on it, failed the visual test (not the emission test), told me about the new state requirement, and took my money. The catalytic converter is the original part of the car, and do you expect that ARB EO number to magically appear on an old part? And do you know what's the nail on the coffin? NO FREE RETEST! I will have to pay this place $60 to take another test. Are you kidding me? By the way, I'm an honest person and I'm having a great day just like you! And I don't like people wasting my time and money! I've been going to this place for Smog Test before, and even referred this place to my family and friends. But that won't be happening anymore. These guys were beyond brilliant! Showed up and was immediately greeted. Dude told me to hold up one sec to finish up with the person before me and then within minutes had me settled. I couldn't have been there more than 15-20 minutes total. While i was waiting to be helped at the counter one of their mechanics walked in and waved to me smiling. The same mechanic came in later when the other had left the desk so the lobby was unattended. The mechanic popping in spoke to the people whole had just walked in, they were greeted and told they would be helped in a moment. Within seconds their front desk dude of the day was on it! I saw everyone move in and out quickly. Their waiting area was clean, good amount of space (more than most smog places I've been to) and no annoying tv's or radios or anything! I was so happy. They were also awesome for an elderly woman there, very patient, and kind while they explained their answers clearly for her to each question she threw at them. I was able to use their coupon for checking in with yelp and settled up for $55 on my 2002 Dodge Durango. When i left the same kick ass mechanic that kept checking in on the front desk stop what he was working on to wave goodbye to me! I waved and yelled a "thank you! " back grinning ear to ear. These guys are great and totally on top of their game. I will gladly come here any time i need to for as long as i leave nearby. I wish everything could be this awesome and easy. read more

First impressions are the cincher. You first walk in, they have a huge lobby with multiple areas to sit and food/drink for sale. For a smog shop (like most mechanics places) you don't expect it to be too clean. However, this is obviously the exception. Not only was it super clean, but actually smelled good. The service time was phenomenal. From parking to getting back into my car after the test was done was no more than 20 minutes.
