Service here is hit or miss. Went Wednesday March 30th for a birthday dinner for my cousin. Reservations were made. Table was not ready so we waited about 15-20 minutes for them to set up our area in the patio. We reminded our server the birthday boy had to leave for work at 7pm, he reassured us that wouldn't be a problem. Brad, our server was nice, but overwhelmed because it seemed like he had the whole patio to himself. After we placed our order Brad informed us the kitchen was low on staff so orders were taking 30 minutes longer than usual. We figured that wouldn't be a problem since we ordered within 5 minutes of being seated. Fast forward, our food STARTED coming out an hour & seven minutes later, everyone's fries were burnt ( regular & yam fries). One of my cousins didn't get her salad til an hour and a half later. Brad didn't directly apologize, but informed us everything was out of his control. We tried to understand. The manager, Chris, decided to grace us with his presence an hour and half later w/my cousins salad. He informed her he'd comp HER $7 salad. Asked what the issue was, we SHOWED him & he just stood there. Couldn't he have comped the birthday boys food? Offered an apology on behalf of Valley Brew? They would've done that at a CHAIN restaurant & he should know that because he WORKED at one. Chris, your attitude & customer service was much more pleasant at Applebee's. I hope you don't let another family walk out of Valley Brew unsatisfied not only with their experience at Valley Brew, but your lack of customer service. read more

Me, the lady and baby came here for a friends birthday dinner. There was about 14-16 adults (21 years or older) and 4 kids. We had no problem ordering our drinks. I remember her checking ID's for the people who ordered alcohol. As soon as the drinks come out, she had the nerve to tell the friend I was sitting next to that he "switched seats with somebody" and she won't give him the beer he ordered until he shows her his ID again. He had no problem showing her but she kept insisting that someone else was sitting in that spot. Another issue we had was splitting tabs. I think no one asked to split the tabs before she took the orders because we were pretty focused on how cold it was outside (no heat lamps.) As soon as everyone ordered, I walk up to the waitress and ask if she can split my tab and she said "it's too late, everyone ordered." I thought that was very rude and she was just being lazy and not wanting to take the time to split people's tab. Now because she wasn't splitting tabs, the friend I was sitting next to was ordering his beers and shots at the bar. He bought rounds for me and the birthday boy. So our waitress told her manager that my friend was buying his alcohol inside so he can give the drinks to under aged people. Keep in mind that we are all 21 and over. We had a horrible waitress. I wish I would have remembered her name. On a good note, I remember the food tasting good. I think everyone enjoyed their plates. But nothing worth going back for. Wouldn't come back unless a friend decides to throw a birthday dinner there. If I do go back, I will update this review with her name. read more

I've heard about this place from a few colleagues from work. My wife went here a long time ago. I finally made it out here for dinner two weeks ago. The worse service ever. We took our friends (who are from modesto) there for lunch. Walked in, wasn't so busy for a sunday. Got our seats, the hostess wasn't so accomodating.. besides that, we ordered beer and appetizers, the beers took 15 mins for them to bring to the table the appetizers took 30 mins. I felt like our server had ADD, he took one of our orders and disappeared for another 20 mins, wasn't even being mindful of others on the table who also wanted to place our orders.. long story short, we all finally got to order, and that took another 30 to an hour and never saw our food. I've come here twice. As someone who doesn't eat meat (but occasionally eats fish) my options were limited but I still had some good meals. First time I got fish and chips - which was pretty good but quite a heavy meal. I got a Moscow mule as well, and that was a little low on alcohol for me so I skipped the mixed drinks for my next visit. Second time we got a salmon burger and an eggplant sandwich. We really wished we'd both just gotten the eggplant sandwich because it was pretty good and such a great vegetarian option! One of the sides were yam fries and the other were regular/garlic fries. Definitely skip those yam fries (funny enough they also came with the salmon burger). This second time I chose to get a beer instead of a drink too!! Both times I've left stuffed so you will get full and the price is decent. About $9-12 for a meal. read more

VB has recently switched management (and chefs) and their food has improved greatly. I think the only complaint my fellow patrons have is their constant outage of select beers that used to always be available. That's wearing my friends a little thin. The staff can either be awesome (when it's slow) or horribly slow and not always courteous when it's busy. We're weekly regulars and usually have the largest group in the place. Sometimes they acknowledge that, and sometimes they act as if they've never seen us before and get an attitude when we ask to seat a lot of people outside. But the food has improved! =P read more

I used to go pretty often until a few weeks back when I tried to go for dinner with a friend and watch playoff basketball on a Thursday night. I got one foot in the door and the bartender yells," kitchen's closed and bar closes as soon as the sharks game is over." It was 8pm at the time. Valley Brew is a great place to hang out and smoke a pipe out in the patio. You can roll in on your motorcycle and still be able to keep an eye on it from where you're smoking. The Dollar Taco Thursdays are the best deal in town for that night...just be prepared to have to wait because they get pretty packed. read more

Came here for lunch and there were only a few people there. The food is good. They offer several beers on tap including their own. The location is not too far from University of the Pacific. Parking would probably be an issue during busy hours especially at night. read more

Had been coming here since they had the growlers i am big on service even though I am not a senior citizen, and what can I say the bartender should be somewhere that only serves drinks when you have to take food orders you should be honest and as helpful as possible not a dick head! All fried foods are frozen and gross! The philly cheese meat looked about a month old there beer selection is okay I guess? Casual atmosphere, beer's awesome, and people just mind their own business! They brag about their 'Indian Red Ale', as they should! Great body, spicy, and a rich malt flavor...flatter than some other brews. When we looked this place up we were looking for a brewery & I guess they don't brew the have large selection of keg beers which were good. But when I see brewery I want to test some brew, not drink stuff I can buy at local store. The bartender did have his brew list memorized which ok but I like to read into it. So we chose a light and a dark & ordered nachos to munch on. The nachos were bomb, but outside there's an odor which made us lose our appetite. So we did the best we could and paid. Price not bad. Prior to leaving had a ways drive back & so I used restroom & nah all bad. I don't think we'll return. The three stars is for the service. I've never been let down by Valley Brew. I've been there for many dinners, the Superbowl, and New Year's Eve. Always a nice mellow atmosphere. The servers are attentive - even when the place is extremely busy. Your pint is never dry! The food is good pub grub. Their vegetarian pizza is fantastic and their burgers are delicious.
