If you're looking for an absolutely delicious bbq spot, this is it! The meat is marinated perfectly. The ribs fell off the bone. The meat wasn't dry either! You just get giant slabs of meat with sides for an affordable price. I also tried the sandwich and left so full. The service was quick and everyone checked in on you to make sure you're doing alright. It was a very family friendly ambiance and even had claw arcade games. I would definitely make the trip back out here!
Let me just say this right now: if you're not eating at Fat City Brew & BBQ, you are actively disrespecting your taste buds. I walked in hungry and left in a smoked-meat-induced trance, spiritually elevated and 3 pounds heavier. Worth it? Absolutely. I'd do it again with zero shame. First off, let's talk about this meat tray from heaven. This wasn't a meal--it was a full-blown family reunion of deliciousness. Brisket? Tender and smoky, like it had been slow-danced to sleep over a smoldering log. Pulled pork? Moist, juicy, and shredded finer than my gym goals. The ribs? Baby, these things didn't just fall off the bone--they jumped off in excitement to be eaten. I had smoked chicken that was seasoned like somebody's grandma had whispered secrets into the skin. Even the turkey was juicy, which I didn't think was physically possible without drowning it in gravy. And the sides? Let me introduce you to the MVPs of this meal: those onion rings were crispy golden halos sent from the snack gods. Coleslaw came through fresh and crunchy like it had a vendetta against blandness. And don't even get me started on that soft, buttery roll in the middle--I don't know what it was doing there, but it brought the whole platter together like a flavor diplomat. Now... the sauces. Over the years these guys have really improved so much. They held a yelp event here a couple of months ago and that got them back on my radar after not visiting for some time. Their BBQ burger topped with brisket and bacon is probably my favorite burger so far in the 209. As for the meats, don't sleep on their smoked turkey. It's sooooo moist and tender. Even if you're not big on turkey I'd highly recommend it. Anyways I'd consider them an area rating of a 5/5.
What a hidden gem in Stockton. Some coworkers sent me pictures about a year ago and told me how amazing it was. I had to go check it out on my trip out there this time. The brisket and smoked chicken were delicious, I really liked how it looked inside, typical BBQ joint lol. Staff were all very helpful too.
Best BBQ, tried the Brisket Philly today with Mac & Cheese. Man oh man a must try when you come out to Stockton, support the local small businesses.
Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of onion rings. Bread is nice and soft, meat is tender, onion rings amazing. Just disappointed because menu said it was slathered in BBQ sauce and it was not. I was also asked if I wanted a side of ranch and never got that in my order either. Not a big deal but if it says it on the menu it and an employee offers ranch it should be up to par. Especially if you want customers to return on a struggling local restaurant. Thankfully I had my own ranch and bbq sauce at home so it made up for that.
I really wanted to like this place but wow this is one of the worst BBQ foods I've ever tried. I spent 60$ for a 3-way meat plate that consisted of ribs, tri-tip, and brisket with Mac n cheese, chili beans, potato salad, and a cornbread muffin. The food was so bland I refuse to believe it's not cafeteria food. There was hardly any meat on the ribs, mostly fat. Although the food wasn't dry it had no real flavor without the little BBQ sauce cups they gave us. Also, the tomatoes in the chili are diabolical! Sadly, there wasn't one thing from my meal I enjoyed. The only reason why I'm giving two stars is because the kitchen didn't mess up my order but unfortunately messed up my taste buds. The service was decent, and the dine-in area looked like a nice place to eat some BBQ. I think the restaurant is in a really good area for business and has the potential to become one of the best BBQ places in town if the owner starts valuing the quality of the food by adding seasoning and fixing their menu options.
my significant other has come here with his work group on a regular basis numerous times, but this was my first time. I was not disappointed, and by the time I finished my lunch, I had a definitive understanding of why they always choose this establishment. The ambience was casual yet welcoming and the staff were extraordinarily kind and helpful. The food was absolutely fantastic. I could have eaten an entire plate of just fries if I would've been allowed to get away with it lol. The sandwich was so yummy and filling. I actually ended up taking half of it home and snacking on it later... It was so yummy. It didn't make it too long though lol. he had the rib sandwich and was nice enough to give me a bite. I enjoyed his as well, but the turkey sandwich was definitely my favorite. I truly enjoyed it, it was packed full of flavor, but not overbearing. I will most definitely be back. Decent prices, amazing service and even better food; no complaints here

2/2/24 - Sorry to say that my stellar reviews of my past visits have now been cancelled!!! When I walked in I was quickly greeted by a cashier/server. She didn't waste any time by telling me that they had sold out of the tri-tip. I guess she could tell by the look on my face that is what I came for and YES it was!! I asked for a menu anyway to see what else I could order and was hoping that they have added some more items, but same menu. So, since I have never tried their brisket I ordered a brisket sandwich with onion rings and a soda. You pay when you order and it came up to $24.+. There were two customers seated and one at the bar so it was a very quiet restaurant. My meal came very quick and I couldn't wait to bite into my sandwich. I did, and it was tasty but I needed more sauce so I grabbed two from the table next to me, one sweet & tangy the other Chipotle. I opened my sandwich to add the sauce and at first it looked good, but something told me to look at it again and when picked up the other half of the first piece I ate it was nothing but fat on the other end. I picked up the other two slices and more of the same. I could have screamed, it was all fat, then I picked up the second half and it was all fat, nothing was trimmed off. I should have said something when the waiter asked me if everything was okay, I didn't!!! I was quietly furious and didn't want to cause a scene or let other customers who just sat down within hearing distance know of my dissatisfaction!!! I drank the little bit of soda I had and left. I was so disappointed I just sat in my car for a few minutes and I had completely lost my appetite, I wasn't going home, so I needed to eat something but I just couldn't, appetite ruined for the evening!!! I am glad I put something in my stomach at 10:30a, or I would've eaten all day!!!! Now it's either almost five or a little after. It has been a while since I have been here, the theater was still across the street, because I have been busy with my grandchildren. I could bring my grandson here and he would be happy, but my granddaughter is very picky and she wouldn't eat. Now, I don't know when I will feel like visiting again. Sad!!!
Great place for some bbq food! Had the fat city spud with brisket and oh man the meat was so tenderrrr. I recommend it. Didn't finish the potato it was in since it's humongous but if you're feeling it and hungry this is all you need to go into a food coma lol. The tremor beer lager is a great pair. I'm a big lager fan so I recommend it. Great seating for big groups or small groups, retro throwback music was spot on when I went in. Plenty of parking in the back. Service is friendly and nothing to complain about. Food came out fast. I'd come back.
Where do I begin I could give a MILLON STARS if that was an option. Being from Pleasanton my search for catering began months ago. I called Trina and she walked me through my options for delivery and menu choices to celebrate our graduating seniors. The Brisket was so flavorful and the Mac and cheese was a hit. Our students who are vegetarians loved the GINORMOUS baked potatoes with the vegetarian chili. The rolls were soft and complemented the Brisket perfectly. I recieved many complements on the tasty bbq sauce. Most importantly the food was delivered piping hot and ready to serve. My volunteers were excited to receive a bottle of Fat City Chardonnay....One for them and 3 for me! The staff and communication with my serive at Fat City was above and beyond. Thank you to everyone at Fat City for making our celebration so memorable. One last thing about Fat City ..Their location is great for dinning in or take out.
Fat City is the absolute best BBQ in the entire area. What makes it extra special though is the family who runs it. The owner Don makes everyone feel like family and you can tell he has put his heart and soul into his business. This isn't just a BBQ place, they have incredible variety on their menu. I love their garlic tots, grilled cheese and street tacos. My husband loves their brisket and their wings. We stop in whenever we can to have some delicious food and support this amazing family. I highly recommend stopping in here and giving them a try, You won't be disappointed. read more

OK so I'm kinda obsessed with their BBQ sauces and fries! Sandwiches are pretty spot on. Loved the pulled chicken sandwich. I was pretty bummed with the portion size of the fries. As good as they are you would really think you would get just a few more. Onion rings on the other hand are huge and drinks are refillable. Parking lot is in the back as well as the entrance. Not the best location for huge parties and zero booths. Lots of tables and bar top. read more
Met a couple friends here for lunch. I had ribs with coleslaw and chili. Service was good, cool place. Ribs had really good smoke flavor. They were so tender and well seasoned I did not sauce them. Coleslaw was crunchy and delicious. Chili beans were great. One of the guys had a brisket sandwich, gone. Other guy had tri tip and chicken, gone. I'm picky about my bbq, this place is awesome. read more

Working near this place so I had to try it out and I'm glad I did! Tri-Tip is my favorite food so if it's in the menu im getting it! I ordered the 1 meat plate with 2 sides. I was given a generous portion of tender tri tip that was perfectly pink in the center and seasoned greatly. The Mac and cheese was good in a way I don't think I've ever had before. The cheese was so gooey and almost had like a queso taste to it that made it stand out and very good. The onion rings were nice and golden crispy. I love when you have to actually bite into an onion ring. Noting is worse than taking a bite and the whole onion string out. These were very good. The only thing I didn't really like were the sauces. They were all on the sweeter side and I'm someone who likes spice but other than that it was great! read more

Out of town and a friend wanted to try a new bbq place. We wound up here at fat city brew & bbq. All three of us got two meat plates, a mixed drink and a appetizer to split. The total bill plus tip came out to $168, which honestly is a little pricey. For my plate I got the tri tip, brisket, Mac & cheese and potato salad. The best thing was the brisket, the tri tip was alright but just like the appetizers a little bland. I would still try this place again whenever in town but next time to help cut down on the cost, I think I will get a sandwich as I noticed a lot more customers opted for sandwiches instead. The mixed drinks were pretty good and priced fine, but just a little heavy on the ice. read more
Randomly stopped by while in the area. Got the brisket sandwich with Jack cheese with a side of onion rings. Brisket was super soft and tasty, onion rings were pretty plain, I'd go for other sides next time. Pretty much open seating, you'll get a menu and have to order at the register. read more

I decided to swing by Fat City for dinner and came away impressed with the service and food. I went with a Hot Link Taco, Pulled Pork Sandwich and Chili Beans. The Pulled Pork was my favorite of the three and the sweet and tangy BBQ sauce really set it off. Look forward to coming back and trying something new. read more

Came on a Friday for lunch. Was recommended by someone. Ambiance...Nice and clean. Nice music playing. Service...The two ladies were very kind and friendly. I love that. Everything we ordered. Brisket, ribs and pulled pork and rib tips. All was very bland except for the rib tips. Sides were coleslaw, loaded baked potatoes and chili beans. Coleslaw and chili beans were basic. Loaded potatoes were cold and hard except for the toppings. Also bought two smoked chocolate cookies. They were big! It was good when warmed up at home. Hubby was excited cuz he loves bbq. He said it was just ok and a little disappointed because he's been wanting to eat here for some time. Same for me. Everything was plain. read more

Ordered the Fat City Spud for delivery. Not the first time food has arrived looking different from the photo online. But absolutely the first time it looked BETTER than advertised . Everything is well seasoned and the tri tip is tender. Would definitely order again read more
Damn. This place is a gem in stockton. The meats were ALL so tender. I don't think I could ever forget how the brisket tasted like. The people here were so friendly and helpful. I expected this place to be a brewery, but it was not. Additionally, there were limited draft beers options when we went. The brisket was dry but the pulled pork was good. The service I'd rate as standard. Not exceptional, nor poor. I went to this restaurant because they are pet-friendly due to their outdoor patio area. After seeing this play, some good stay Sacramento I had to go try it. So I drove out to Stockton from Sacramento and worked out there for a little while boy was I glad I did. After walking in the back door and seeing all the staff and everybody was so polite and friendly they offered me a menu. No thanks I already know what I'm ordering. Hi my name is Spencer and I'm here for the giant Dino beef rib. They brought out my ribs and boil boy that they look delicious. And they were very tasty. Very tender super yummy, and lots and lots and lots of flavor. The meat came right off the bone! They had lots of other things on the menu that I can't wait to try the next time I'm in Stockton like I don't know macaroni and cheese french fries ! Thanks for a great experience. Had a great time! Learned about Fat City for TV - Rob on the Road. Decided to drive the 100 miles to try them out and what a fun place. A tip if you're not from the area, there is a very nice parking lot right in back of the restaurant, so don't sweat the street parking. We arrived mid afternoon, so it was quiet, but I'm betting it is a lively spot starting around 5. The food is just what you'd expect. The BBQ sauce is just barely spicy, but they have options on the table to spice it up if that's what you want. My husband is a mac and cheese guy and that is one of the side options. It was very good! We got the full rack and split it. Wow!!! they went all the way across the tray and were double stacked at the end. There was so much food that even though we split one meal, we took 3 ribs home with us. The service was good and the interior is funky and fun. The big windows in front made it fun to people watch. read more

This Place is amazing I love their rib tips absolutely a must have! The barbeque burger is sooo good % and their Mac and cheese is LIGHTS OUT! The service is TOP TIER! Props to all the servers! And the interior isn't very ideal but, I do like it's style they also have a wolf I think that's pretty epic honestly 10 out of 10. This place is absolutely amazing would recommend to my friends once you come here your mouth will water, your eyes will feast, and you will be filled to the brim with delicious food for everyone at your table! read more

Seriously!!! The Fat City spud with that flavorful, smoked, mouth watering brisket!! It's loaded with meat, cheese, sour cream and bbq sauce. Talk about a meal. This hits the spot. read more

We were passing through Stockton to meet up with my in-laws for a quick lunch today. We called ahead to check to see if there was outdoor dining available because we had our dog with us. Yes, they do. While on the phone, they also let us know that they only had pulled pork and hot links for the rest of the day in addition to whatever they cook on the stovetop. That was a helpful heads up. We were good with that- we figure it's just one of those places where if something sells out it sells out. They have some patio space in the front and a couple tables in the back, as well. They have a big parking lot adjacent to the back side of the restaurant. I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries. The sandwich was hearty. The pulled pork was flavorful and came with fixings- lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayo. They had a variety of bbq sauces in squeeze bottles to try with it also. The fries were awesome- and I would consider myself a fry enthusiast. The thickness was just right, the spiral shape was fun, and the light crispy coating was perfection. Yum. The service was great all-around. The woman who answered the phone was super friendly. And the man who brought our food out was very nice, as well. KEEP IT MOVING.... FOOD: We ordered "The pit" so we could try a bit of all the meats they smoke there. The meal came with two sides, we selected Mac and cheese and the chili beans. Overall the meats were bland but they may leave it like that so people can flavor to their preferences. Mac and cheese was dry and not so cheesy. Chili beans were heavy on the tomatoes. We also ordered the chicken wings, nothing really to speak on for those. WHY DID WE COME? Well I came across the owners post where he spoke about his recent health journey and we wanted to show some support to him and his establishment. Our order was to go but unfortunately after arriving all the way home we cut open the bag they gave us to realize they forgot pretty much half our order. They sounded dumbfounded when we called them and they realized what happened. Mistakes happen, yes but there was no effort to rectify the situation. Since we were going to have to drive all the way back to pick it up I asked if we could have a fresh order but was told not all of the meats were available anymore and they would have to substitute so we had to stick to our original order that had been sitting there. By the time we got home from all the back and forth the food was what it was. Very disappointed in the customer service. We wish the owner well but will not be visiting again. read more
