Highly recommend! I LOVED Market Tavern. We were in town for a small convention and asked a local friend for restaurant recs. They recommended Market Tavern. Hubby and I really enjoyed this restaurant. It was a Saturday afternoon, and we were seated immediately. Service was great. Our server was friendly and efficient. Food was excellent! Hubby ordered the spaghetti with two meatballs. I got the prosciutto & arugula wood fired pizza - so good!! I brought home leftovers and enjoyed every bite! I rated this one higher than the Livermore location one because considering the options around and honestly the overall quality seemed a bit better. This place felt like a really elevated Applebees. And I don't use that derogatorily, and I know I used that same analogy before. But this type of elevated is actually more closer to an evening celebration out and you dress kinda noice or church nice. I like the corn bread, the steak, and coconut shrimp. Service is on point. It's a big place with lots of parking, I'd reserve if you can. I'd go back but honestly it's kinda expensive to keep going back so often which I said this is like church nice / evening out. My friend wanted to come here before there was a location in Lodi where we live. I have to admit, she is less picky than I am. She ordered the fish tacos. I guess she liked that they came stacked high with all kinds of stuff. I couldn't find anything that really spoke to me. I generally want a simpler kind of dish. Not a big fan of places that dress their dishes up with things like pickled onions and mystery house sauces. So I got a burger, hoping it would be a big juicy not over cooked burger like you used to be able to get. I had to customize it a lot though. You always have to cross your finger that they will get it right when you do that. Well she liked her tacos and my burger was ok. Not worth the money. Expensive place for every day food that's just sort of dressed up with stuff you can do without. Quality was generally good. Kind of a dumpy lot to be located in, but that's Stockton for ya. I don't remember much about the service or the ambiance so they must have been ok. Probably not going back tho. I can get a better burger with less fuss for a better price just about anywhere. That said, you don't go to these types of places for a burger, you get them when you're dragged there. All in all, I wish that there were more family owned operations locally that just had good food and good prices and good service. Too many places that are either complete garbage or trying to be super high end in basically run down towns. read more

Stumbled in for lunchtime with a friend before we continued to shop for Mother's Day gifts. So a little break lol. Sat at the bar top. Bartenders were all super friendly and so happy! Recently visited here with a group of 6. I made a reservation ahead of time and upon arrival they seated my party right on time. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. I ordered the calabrian chili wings which were crispy and had great flavor. My girlfriend orders the salmon and she really enjoyed it. The prices are very reasonable for the area. I'm not from the area, but was more than willing to try this place on a recommendation from a friend. We had a group of 7 and they were so kind to seat us in a private room area. It was perfect for our little birthday celebration for someone in our party of 7. The ambiance is clean, cozy and a touch of formal. The waitress + rest of the staff were great. They took great care of us. They were fun, attentive, helpful and genuinely seem like they enjoy their job. The food came out in a very timely manner which I was pleasantly surprised. The portions were also more than enough, so we ended up bringing leftovers home. As far as winners in my book, I really would say the Margherita Pizza, Four Cheese Mac & Cheese, Cornbread and Furikake Fries (plus the dipping sauces) had to be my favorites. This was my first visit to a Market Tavern location. Great food, service, and parking.

Decent food, but pricy for what it is. We ordered 3 items: Wood Grilled Octopus, Cab Burger, and Cobb Salad. +Food: Expensive, salty, but just good enough to get you to finish your meal. For the Cab burger, it is $21 dollars for a basic burger, just bun, meat, veggies, and sauce with a side of fries. If you want cheese, it costs $3 more... Fries are as basic as they can get, thin cut and salty. I would pass on this and opt for something else on the menu if you take into account what you get, the basic taste and burger ingredients do not justify it. The Wood Grilled Octopus is decent. Tastes fresh and has a strong savory flavor that any seafood lover would enjoy. They do add a sauce on it - I would recommend requesting it on the side, so you can enjoy the grilled octopus and then dip it in the sauce if you'd like. The potatoes are considered '' crispy '' per the menu description, but it was quite the opposite. Tasted more so like they boiled/steamed it, no crunch on the potatoes we got whatsoever. Cobb Salad is pretty solid and good portion. Would recommend this if you want a salad. Nothing much to say about it other than it being fresh and the avocados were nice and green. +Service & Ambiance Attentive staff and friendly. Moody & Dark Lighting and clean restaurant. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu so far and some highlights: - cornbread; so buttery, nicely crunchy, soft, and the lightly spicy butter is delectable. I think about this cornbread OFTEN - Wood grilled octopus; this place cooks octopus like no other. It's juicy, never dry, and cooked to perfection. I request for the sauces on the side as it could be a bit overwhelming. Potatoes are thick, soft, and crunchy. - Chicken pot pie is delicious and savory. Nice amount of veggies, creamy, and lots of tender chunks chicken. Add a pinch of pepper and it's complete. The flakey crust is the cherry on top. read more

My absolute FAVORITE restaurant in Stockton, whether it's for lunch or dinner it's absolutely DEELISH tonight we got something very similar to last time but switched up one of our appetizers and we're not disappointed! The usual being the delicious skirt steak for me with mash potatoes and polenta, and my friend got the same thing but extra veggies (Brussel sprouts and broccoli) and for the appetizers the deviled eggs, and the short rib taquitos. Both were 10/10 amazing!!! Our server was an ANGEL and literally memorized our entire order and drinks!! II was highly impressed he got EVERYTHING right!! Someone give this man a raise!! And he was super on top of everything and the sweetest!! What wonderful service! The ambiance was definitely classy, but casual in a sense since we did sit in the bar area. Returned for another wonderful dinner the other night! YAY! :0) We ordered a bunch of small plates to share and take home too! The charcuterie plate has an amazingly delicious variety, it's a MUST order every time! YUM! Meatballs were flavorful and cooked to perfection! They also had the perfect balance of meat to sauce ratio for me in that the dish had slightly more sauce to eat with almost every bite! Cornbread and special butter was heavenly and amazingly tasty, but they are too oily these days, so we might not order this anymore. Market Tavern Burger Review I really wanted to like this burger, but it missed the mark for me. The patty felt too dense and clumsy, almost overworked, and it did not have much flavor. The bacon tasted and felt like it may have been pre-cooked instead of fresh, which took away from the burger. The fries were overcooked and pretty forgettable. For the price, the flavor just was not there, and it did not feel worth the cost. For comparison, First Street Alehouse in Livermore makes a 5 out of 5 burger in my opinion. Their burger has better flavor, texture, and overall balance. Market Tavern's burger was more like a 2.5 out of 5 at best. Too bad, because I was hoping for a solid burger here. read more

First time trying this spot! All my friends were raving about this spot. So I decided to give it a try. The ambiance inside was really nice. The lights inside were dimmed so it gave far a fancy vibe and the decor was really nice. The service was great. The waitress checked in on us often and offered great recommendations. Her service was greatly appreciated. I ordered a cheese burger with fries when I came. The food was excellent and it came in a timely manner. I overall give this restaurant a 4/5 star review. Wow! This place is amazing!! Pricey but worth it. I came on a Saturday night. I had to put myself on the waitlist but it was a 15 minute wait so it wasn't too bad. The ambiance is nice. It's low dimmed so a good spot for date night. I ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. The little tomatoes resemble little weinies but looks can be deceiving because it was delicious. The mozzarella tasted so fresh and the balsamic sauce was perfect. Now for my entree, I got the spring lasagna and wow, not was it filling but amazing. I hate asparagus but this dish made it love it. It's a younger crowd, not saying older folks will hate it but it's more of a high energy place. The servers are fantastic; never had a bad experience with it. This restaurant is very very good, and it makes it even better because the pricing is extremely reasonable. The skirt steak was perfectly cooked. The wood fire grill gives it a great great flavor. We had dinner with friends to celebrate a birthday, and everything was phenomenal! Our table ordered the chicken parmesan, the turkey and vegetable soup, and the four cheese lasagna -- all absolutely delicious. Our waiter, Chris, provided excellent service and was incredibly attentive throughout the night. We also loved that they have a little store where you can buy items from the menu along with other goodies. We'll definitely be back so my husband can enjoy the full experience. She did not know and will find out for us. later the manager came over to our table and asked all of our questions. The manager was very helpful during our meal. we had lunch at Market Tavern in Stockton, California today. I ordered the taquitos and they were excellent, and my wife had the hanger steak, which she really enjoyed as usual. The significant downside is the noise level inside the restaurant -- the music is extremely loud and makes it uncomfortable to have a normal conversation. Based on my meter readings, the music was consistently over 90 dB in the dining area, which exceeds the 75 dB maximum sound level that Stockton's noise standards allow for many indoor, noise‑sensitive uses, with thresholds reduced an additional 5 dB when the noise consists primarily of music. Levels in the 90 dB range are also above commonly recommended safe exposure levels for prolonged listening, especially for children, whose hearing is more sensitive and vulnerable to long‑term damage. That is disappointing, because aside from the excessively loud music, the food and overall restaurant experience are very good. read more

We went and had the special 14 oz Rib Eye. It was one of the best steaks we ate. They even split the whole dinner for my granddaughter and I because there was so much food. We also tried the meatball and they were great too. The service was amazing. Our waitress went out of her way to make our first time there an enjoyable experience. I will definitely be back.
