I'm always looking for good spots around Sherman Oaks, especially places where I can actually get more than one vegan option, and Valley Burger Bar surprised me! The Beyond Burger was juicy and full of flavor, but that falafel sandwich might have stolen the show. They did NOT play with the filling; it was loaded with falafel and fresh ingredients, which I loved. I also had the fries, which came out nice and crispy. One of my favorite parts was trying the different house-made sauces. The chimichurri and pesto were especially good and made an already solid meal even better. Never again. I ordered from their website, picked it up but it wasn't what I'd ordered. So I returned, showed the girl at the counter the screenshot of my order, and she *agreed with me*. I said if you can make it within 14 minutes (when my parking meter would expire) great, but if not, just refund it. She called the owner to ask what to do, came back and refused to remake OR refund it, and only offered extra sides. I said I don't *want* any extra sides and asked to speak to a manager. She calls the owner back and hands me the phone. He repeated what she said and kept talking like I was gonna accept the wrong order. I said NO, at this point a refund was the only option as the food had gotten cold by then anyway. He starts ARGUING with me "Well was it warm when you picked it up?" Seriously? It got cold BECAUSE THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG THING AND CHOSE TO ARGUE INSTEAD OF FIXING IT. I said I'm not gonna pay $26 for YOUR mistake and I'm not gonna argue with you, I'll just dispute the charge, handed the phone back to the shocked girl and left. Needless to say I won't go there ever again. One time, the mashed potatoes I paid $8 for tasted like fish, like they re-used a pan that they cooked fish in without washing it, so I had to throw them away. Terrible customer service and ignored instructions. We ordered two Western Burgers and sweet potato fries through Uber Eats. We requested no grilled onions and no raw onions, even adding a note: "Please, no onions on anything." What we got were burgers with onion rings on them, and to make matters worse, we both got ill from the food. Here is the best part: I called tonight to speak with a manager, and Mark got on the phone. I asked about the order, and his first response was, "Why would you order the Western if you wanted no onions?" I explained that the app only shows a picture with no description of the item, yet we clearly asked for no onions. Then I let him know we both got sick. He gave absolutely no apology. Instead, he just defended the restaurant, saying their sauces and meat are fresh and that no one else had called to complain. The food is really good. Again, mostly things are the same with new twists on things. Definitely pricy but nothing crazy. I ordered online to have food delivered. I called them directly after a considerable time had passed to find out where my food was. They then told me I scheduled my order for pickup. I asked for them to correct this as I was pretty confident I asked for the food to be delivered. They told me I would need to speak with a manager. I agreed and asked to speak with the manager. They put me on hold for 5 minutes and when they returned they told me the manager is in a meeting. At dinner time the manager is in a meeting? Kinda strange. I decided to call back in 10 minutes or so. when I did the manager was still in a meeting. They took my contact information but I never got a phone call back. First off, My review is for the sake of helping management see this and take appropriate action before they are forced to close their doors for people not wanting to come back. I am already skeptical considering all the negative reviews and no response yet from management. Anyway, I and my family are Very disappointed by the quality of Burger Bar. I loved Orange Delight and was sad it went out of business. But my family and I were craving a good burger, so we said let's give it a try. The quality was very underwhelming. For the price these burgers and all the food should be top notch. The burger itself was small and bland. The bun was flaky and thin. The lettuce was watery and all the topping were so chopped they made the burger fall apart. The fries are obviously pre frozen. For the love of all burger restaurants including this one, USE HOUSE CUT FRIES! The steak from the plate was bleh. And worst of all the Tahin is a 2 out of 10 at best. My aim isn't to trash this place as I'm sure some others will have a better opinion. But my standards for a good burger go beyond something that tastes and looks like something you would get at fast food. Hopefully they improve their ways. I have never tried the location on Pico, but if it's the same quality then I will never understand how kosher foodies would ever want a burger like this at such a price.
