the outside of the restaurant

Pita Kitchen is a solid option when you have a craving for Mediterranean food. We got takeout from here the other night and the portions are huge! I got the chicken shawarma plate and really enjoyed all the flavors. The chicken was tender, the rice was buttery and the salad tasted fresh. Their tahini wasn't my favorite and the container it came in was so small I wish I had a little more. Also, the pita that came with my plate was pretty hard. Not sure if this is their style, but I prefer soft pita, not pita that is cracker-like. Loved the pickles and their babaganoush is amazing. If you haven't been I'd say it's worth checking out! Super small inside, but it's great for a quick dinner out or a super casual date night.

Pita Kitchen is a Mediterranean restaurant right outside of the heart of Ventura Blvd. The menu has relatively cheap dishes with plenty of options and generous portions of meat, rice, vegetables, pita bread, and other sides. Instead of being presented your food at your table, you pick up your food at a window outside of the kitchen area. Note that parking is pretty tough to find on the streets and the interior is very casual, so it's usually best for takeout. The cooks and chefs work quickly and efficiently every time we order! We got the beef shawarma wrap, beef shawarma plate, and chicken shawarma plate with cucumber tomato salad, fries, rice, pita bread, regular lettuce salad, and hummus. They provided a lot of garlic sauce and hummus for a family of four! Our food truly hit the spot.

I haven't been here in years but it's still as good as I recall. Authentic stuff. Come here if you're looking for the real deal. It's right off Ventura and Van Nuys next to newspaper stand. My falafel plate was great! Got the babaganoush and hummus as my choice of 2 sides with fries. Pita comes with it too. Great price given the portion sizes and quality. It's a casual spot you order at window. Seating inside and out. No problem getting a table today. Check it out, definitely worth it.

A very solid Mediterranean street spot that I've been coming to for 15 some years. They serve good quality food, with kabob's being succulent and tasty and shawarma being tender, well-marinated, juicy and normally coming as a generous portion. This was really the case today as well-- my chicken shawarma plate was huge, the shawarma was right of the grill, hot, tender, delicious and came on the bed of yummy rice. My sides were outstanding as well. The hummus was good and fresh and the baba ganoush was simply out of this world. With each bite of baba ganoush, I tasted the roasted eggplant perfection with such pleasantly intense flavor of it that it made me crave it more and more. And with that also came the perfectly creamy texture as well. Yum! The joint itself is a valley street spot on the busy Van Nuys blvd, but it definitely has some character and has seating area on the inside and outside, if you wanna people-watch and eat. The customer service was good and friendly. Will definitely come back again.

This is one of my favorite places to go and we will plan a trip to just come to the area to get this food. If you are within 15 minutes of this location, just go ahead and come on in. The service is fast and the indoor area is small but tidy. Outdoor there are heaters and a walk up window. Seriously don't skip on the PK.

Authentic Mediterranean cuisine at the heart of Ventura Blvd. Casual and chill vibe at the right price. The chicken shawarma wrap, Falafel, Salad and Pita are a must try. Service is fast. Street parking is a challenge and especially on weekends. Over all it was a pleasant and gastronomic experience.

Delicious food and fair prices! Have never been let down with anything I've ever tried. Highly recommend for anyone in the area who wants a good portion with great flavors

My client was craving for some Falafel. We went to another place before ending up here. Parking here is a challenge. Better order your food online then come pick it up when it is ready. I parked on a red zone then went to order food to go. The food didn't take long which is wonderful. I didn't want to get a ticket. I ordered falafel and baba ganoush. It was my first time trying the BABA GANOUSH. I do eat eggplant but not like this. I put falafel and baba ganoush in a pita bread and WOW!!! It is definitely a good combination for me. Delicious!!! My client devoured her portion and she was very pleased with it. Craving satisfied. This place is small but it is popular. A few tables inside and a table outside. There's a big TV inside playing a ball game. One customer commented "good you have the game on". My client and I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. Recommended.

This place always hit the spot. Reasonable prices for what you get and their consistency is whenever I'm passing thru Sherman oaks this place is a mandatory pit stop if I'm hungry. Wish they had more locations!

It is better than their beef koobideh and barg, though those are still good. I have had better beef koobideh at other restaurants like Raffis or Shekarchi. Their bread is so fresh and is an elevated experience compared to the usual lavash bread that restaurants give. My friends had the salmon and they really liked it. The maast o khiar is really good too. The service is excellent - all the food came out quickly and the servers were nice. I will say I am Persian (and look very obviously so) and for some reason one lady only looked at/spoke to my husband and not me. I would say it's 4.5 stars because I was put off by this. Parking is tough right next to the restaurant but can be found metered down the street if you don't want to valet. We were a party of 4 at 7pm on a Saturday night and were seated right away at a booth.

Last night we had dinner at Sadaf - Encino, a modern Persian restaurant with several locations. We…read morearrived at 6:35 p.m. and were told there would be a 20-minute wait. Because large parties were gathered near the entrance, we were asked to move into the bar area while we waited. (The restaurant does not take reservations for groups smaller than five.) While waiting, I noticed several tables for four sitting empty on the patio. We were told we could check our place in line via text, but the message never updated beyond "You are 11th in line and should be seated between 7:03-7:09 p.m." After several trips back to the host stand, we were eventually told it would be another 11-12 minutes. We were finally seated at 8:06 p.m.--after waiting more than an hour. I would never wait this long for food anywhere. Unfortunately, the service after being seated did not improve the experience. We had to request menus, and initially were given only two. After placing our order, two additional menus were brought. We asked for water three times before it finally arrived. Later, when our entrées were brought out, the server had removed our silverware and we had to ask for replacements. We started with the Tahdig (crispy rice) served with two stew toppings: Ghormeh Sabzi (slow-cooked beef with sautéed herbs, kidney beans, dried lime, and special seasonings) and Gheimeh Bademajan- eggplant stew. The eggplant stew was definitely the better of the two. For salads, we ordered the Beet and Feta with Persian cucumbers, lemon juice, olive oil, feta, and mint--it was just okay. We also had the Shirazi salad with chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, parsley, onion, olive oil, and lime juice. This is a classic combination and hard to get wrong, and it did not disappoint. For entrées, we tried the whitefish (charbroiled), which my friend felt was not as good as on a previous visit, and the Shish Kabob, which one of us really enjoyed. The true standout of the night was the Juicy Chicken. It was honestly one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had--boneless chunks of incredibly tender chicken, perfectly marinated and charbroiled over an open flame. It was the redeeming quality of the meal. I would give the Juicy Chicken five stars. That said, I would never wait over an hour for it again. While the Juicy Chicken alone would have warrented 5 stars, the service and wait time knocked it down to three. Unfortunately, dining in was not a pleasant experience.
