VER was recommended as part of a "customer referral" campaign. Salesperson was super amiable, pitched super hard, and all the usual things. Cost seemed high at about $8k for the system, but the big pitch was the lifetime warranty as opposed to the usual 5-year, the monthly "hassle-free" maintenance, $500 relocation and reinstallation if we moved, etc. I've worked with contractors, but I know nothing about plumbing - so I was sold on the lifetime warranty and monthly maintenance for the "hassle free, never have to touch it" aspect, so we went with it. Crew of three guys came in, plopped it down, started drilling and soldering, then took off. They ghosted us almost immediately after the install, and they shut the doors within three months. I actually pursued a BBB complaint, but was told that since they shuttered their doors, not much to do. The unit just went completely dead, so we found another plumbing company to come out. Unfortunately, that just added fuel to the unethical fire. Tech found that VER didn't vent correctly to code and did two illegal patches in the attic rather than run the lines properly. Basically just threw it by the water main and tapped in the attic to get it done quick and take off. They also gave us a pretty basic unit for a massively inflated cost versus what other units were available at the time. Now I'm another ~$3k in the hole to have a legit company fix what they broke and install a unit that will actually do what it's supposed to. And we're clearly not the only ones. So not only did they bamboozle customers on their warranty and service value-add pitch, they did illegal work and bailed. Absolute scam. Unfortunate that they shuttered the business and skipped town to avoid immediate repercussions/penalties, but hopefully the owners get some kind of karma for screwing over homeowners. read more

We had our water softener system installed in April 2022. Typical sales pitch, but my mom had a system already so we didn't need to be sold on it. I do love our water system because water in Arizona is rough. Valley Environmental said they would call to schedule a one year maintenance check on our system. My husband started calling and emailing in April and no one would answer. By the end of April we hadn't heard from anyone. We found out that the business closed early 2023. How rude and unprofessional to not tell your clients that you are closing. Especially when you promise future service on the system. My husband happened to come across a former employee of theirs in review comments. He came and did the maintenance on our system and changed the filter for cheaper than Vally Environmental advertised. He was very nice and I'm so glad things worked out with him. After we had already scheduled something with him, someone reached out to us from another company that appeared to have Valley Environmental's books. Seemed a little sketch. If Valley Environmental had told us in advance that they were closing and selling their books we would have booked with them. Eventually we had other techs, which always did great work. Normally , I recommend this company. Howeverp the company has failed to fix an RO dispenser problem that I brought to its attention this past weekend when it's Tech inadequately recharged my RO Tech. I was promised that attack would appear at my house on Tuesday February 28th in the morning, and I verified with my son who is at the house that no Tech in fact had appeared. When I contacted the company during its normal hours of operations come up nobody picked up the phone. To date nobody has contacted me from this company to set up a time when the Tech will finally appear. Until the Tech fixes this issue at my house with my Aurora system, I would be very reluctant to recommend this company. They go door to door asking for a water sample to do a test and dress like they're part of some kind of municipal authority. Then they call you to discuss your results and hung up on me when I asked if they were a governmental agency and if they were trying to sell me something. It's both unprofessional and deceptive. We were sold a system and now have no information on who to contact to get it serviced. Its been the worst overpriced investment I've made. If you don't mind being way over charged for the the water softener product that other vendors sell at less than half the price of VER does, but do the same, then VER is for you. Be Aware that after 5yrs of use, this crapsystem began issuing a gray to black water that is considered not harmful and perfectly fine according to them, and you thought "the fogy water looked bad!" So if the chlorine is high in your area it will dissolve the coal in your filter tank causing the water to come out black and staining everything from toilets, sinks, tubs, and clothes, even the pool. VER recommended dishining out another $700 to have tank replaced , haha... And can't guarantee it won't continue to occur. A friend referred me to them as this is there way to get referrals and customers. They guarantee you when they call you that they will give you a free gift card if they can come by for a few minutes and test your water at your home. They were quick on showing up at my house. There within 30 minutes. 2 hours later after they are trying to sell us on their products we informed them our house was already listed to sell so we were more interested in knowing about their company for our next home. Then there rates and deals changed. It couldn't apply to a different address. A month later I'm still waiting on my gift card. The office is always closed to the public and no one will ever answer there phone calls. First off by profession I am a buyer, so I deal with sales/ customer service people daily. Salesman Mike? Parker (who I see is mentioned in other 1 star reviews) was very unprofessional. My wife was tending out 2 year old and he yells through the house in a rude tone "do you not want to hear this?" After we make it clear that we are not interested, he starts to throw a fit and says that if this is not something we are interested in that he will just leave. We gladly oblige. But not before he literally says "call me back when you look into this more. Heck, I'll take care of the baby, it's not that hard" He obviously could not adapt to our situation to even attempt to make a sale. Very rude. This company is terrible. Something shady is going on. I've called their number for months and they won't answer. They will not return voicemails or emails. My annual check up was scheduled and they never came by. After a few months a felt like my water system wasn't working properly. They will not answer at all and I feel like they are going out of business. Their location near my house in Peoria is also locked. There's people inside. But the doors are locked and they will not answer the door. Ok, I have been waiting to write this review so I could give an accurate one. As of right now I have mixed feelings. The person who knocked on our door initially didn't identify what they were offering at all. At first I thought they were working for the city as all he said they were testing the water quality. When the salesperson showed up next week & their intentions became clear I was like ok unexpected but I'm interested in a water softener anyway. They managed to get the system installed next day however nothing about install went according to what the salesperson described at all. The unit was put in an extremely inconvenient location & husband is fairly certain the techs packed up some his own tools when they left. When we returned a call to go over our install the csr clearly had no idea who we were & tried to get us scheduled for yearly maintenance on our 2 day old unit. Meanwhile I have multiple business names on my paperwork & wasn't 100% who I was supposed to be reviewing or paying. The cleaning product line that was supposed to come with the unit still hasn't arrived either & we're a month in. The actual unit & water has been awesome. So great product but I feel like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at the company? read more

A representative came to my door and told me that he works for the city and just needed a sample of tap water from our sink. Throughout the conversation he then started asking if we had a water softener or if we would be home to go over the results, obviously...a salesman. I told him we weren't interested in any products or services and he said, "No ma'am, I'm just going to stop by with your results and that's all, no purchase needed." Sure enough I look up the company and they go door to door trying to sell you water softeners and filters... He came back a few days later and I (TMI) had already changed into my very short short PJ's and my husband wasn't home so I didn't feel like changing and coming to the door. The "non-salesman" proceed to ring my doorbell SIX times, called my phone number FIVE times (over the span of an hour) and left me THREE voicemails. 14 attempts to reach a person is way too many, I was and am beyond annoyed. I have put a great deal of thought into this review and have actually waited about 2 years after owning our water softener and RO system before I am actually giving this review. Hopefully this can be of some help to someone. To start, I can say Valley Environmental's customer service is great. Everyone I have ever spoken with that works for them has been nothing but professional, level-headed and very kind. If I needed to have a candid conversation with them, I know I could do so without tempers flaring and emotions controlling the discussion. My wife left a note-so-pleasant review and the owner actually gave us a call personally to discuss the things we were seeing and even offered to send someone out to do a free check-up. Now, in regards to the product: I do feel like we were promised a lot of things that we never got out of this water softener. We were promised our dryer would have less lint; that has been unnoticeable. We were promised no calcium build up in toilets, showers and faucets; we still have calcium build up. We were promised no water spots on dishes and cars after washing; we still have water spots (regardless of how much or little soap we use.) We were promised things would clean easier; that has been unnoticeable. We were promised we would not need face lotion after showering because there was no chlorine in the water; I still use face lotion every single day. Wife was promised she wouldn't need conditioner; she still needs conditioner. We were promised we would need less soap; this has been unnoticeable (admittedly, it may be our fault for continuing to use more than is totally necessary.) i have showered in hotels and such and felt the difference in the water, and it is definitely noticeable. However, I don't think this unit is really anything special. It filters water as well as softens it, so it does a lot more than just taking out the chlorine, but as far as the softening of the water goes... if that is all you are looking for... you can buy one online and save about $4,000.00. This unit cost us a discounted price of about $5K because we signed up that same day (big mistake.) (On a side note, we had just barely had a new born baby and the salesman's pitch was 4 HOURS LONG!!) As far as water softeners go, that is extremely over priced, though it did come with a Reverse Osmosis system for the drinking water. That I can say is un-replaceable. I will always own an RO system from now on. Still, you can get those online much cheaper. It also came with 5 years worth of hand soap, laundry detergent, cleansers and automatic dishwasher soap. The cleansers smelled great, so we loved those. Dishwasher soap was... soap. We use it cause it is there. Definitely won't last 5 years though. The laundry soap was awful.. we actually thought our washer was growing mold or something because our clothes were smelling so gross.. we would run it empty with hot water and bleach trying to shake the smell... then we realized... it was the detergent. Dropped that like a hot potato and clothes smelled fine again. The loan is about 17% interest or so, so it is extremely high, payments end up coming in around $120 a month. If at all possible, I would return the unit. However, this is probably the most frustrating part of the whole ordeal. They give you a 3 day window where you can actually return the unit. However, after they install it, they tell you it will take two weeks to even tell a difference due to all of the build up in the pipes (makes sense!) So your return window expires before you can even determine the quality of the unit they sell you!! In my opinion, that is quite a scam. Didn't realize that when we bought. That would be my biggest warning to everyone. At the end of the day, if you are looking for a system that is said to filter the water out completely, this may be the one you want, though you won't really know its doing it. More of a peace of mind thing. If you just want softer water, go buy somewhere else. My honest and unemotional review that I've put together over the last two years is that the unit isn't worth the price and doesn't make the big difference everyone promised. It isn't an investment like the salesman tries to convince you. You aren't going to save money on soap, shampoo and laundry detergent, which is how they justify the sale. It all sounds good, but in reality and in practice, your expenses will stay the same. I struggled between giving this a 2-star and 3-star rating. I realized if I could go back, I would have turned them down at the first door knock, and so I should probably go with 2 stars. Once again, the people were fantastic, the product was over promised though. We are getting ready to sell our home and so we will likely leave it with the house so we can erase the whole situation from our lives and just buy a regularly priced unit online and never have to make payments again. I purchased a home which had a water softener with their phone number on it. I called the number and asked if they could send me an owner's manual. The lady on the phone looked up the property address and said "this system has to be serviced, it has not been serviced for years" The next day she called me saying "I have some technicians on your street, they probably have an owner's manual for you, do you want them to stop by at your house ?" Five minutes later a van with two guys showed up. They looked at my system and one guy said "there is nothing to service, the only service is filling up the reservoir with salt which you have to buy". Then he emptied a small envelope into the reservoir and demanded $ 80,- from me. The other guy said "I will check if we have an owner's manual in the van" went to the van and explained "sorry, we don't have a manual but we will mail one to you." I asked them why I should pay $ 80,- if no service was performed and the answer was "it was a service call and you also have to pay our insurance". After I filled the reservoir with salt, the water in my house turned black and I called Valley Environmental Services. The lady who answered the phone said "it is normal, just let the water run for a few minutes and it will be clear. The water was black for several month and even now, almost a year later, sometimes it is black. I don't feel that a service was provided. They didn't even send me the owner's manual, as promised. We really like our water softener and ro, we are basically water snobs now, but the warranty is a little deceptive. Just be aware that the "lifetime warranty," which is a wonderful incentive to buy, only covers parts. If your unit randomly acts up, through no fault of your own, you're looking at roughly 90 dollars, even with the warranty. It would be cheaper to use my 210 homeowners warranty, which covers basically everything with a lower fee, but I don't want to void anything by having someone else work on it, so we'll be paying the extra money. Also, ask about how long it will take them to have a technician available in your area if you need them. Our unit isn't working at all right now, is reading an error code, but it seems it usually takes at least a week or two for them to get someone to our area. Maybe that's only a problem if you are outside of the Phoenix area, since we are in Tucson. read more

These individuals came by my house at 7:30pm and said they were going to take a sample of our water, test it and give us the results. They told my husband that they could take the water from an outside spicket, because ya know Covid? The man called my husband the next afternoon and asked to set up a time to go over results when both my husband and I were home. We said 5:30pm. We waited and the man (Parker?) told me he needed to be let in the house to do it from the kitchen sink. When my husband said no, he was upset, and stated he had to demo for a water softener in our house not outside. Um excuse me? Water softener was never even mentioned the night prior? My husband called the person who had contacted us originally, and explained the situation and that he did not feel comfortable during a pandemic having someone in our house, especially with no mask, and had no idea this was to sell us a water softener. My husband apologized for "wasting his time" (even though this was not his fault) and the guy on the other end of the line said "yeah you bet you did, this guy drove from Chandler!" Their marketing strategy annoyed us. They do come test water and their business name suggests they're from city environmental water testing. But they do ask you to opt in to a meeting to go over your results and hear their sales pitch. We purchased the entire system and are both very impressed so far. Installers arrived on time and were friendly. Our pipes were already set up for a water softener so the installation took about an hour. They went above and beyond to make sure our fridge is set up to connect to the osmosis system even though our current fridge doesn't have a need. We've had it for 2 months and so far so good. The water from the osmosis system tastes great. It's better than bottled water. It does everything it they say it does. Sinks, tubs and toilets stay clean. Our skin has improved and it no longer dry. My husband used to have dry patches on his elbows that have disappeared. We use less soap and our animals and plants seem healthier on it. No more calcium build up. I feel like any water softener and osmosis system should produce similar results though. They do have the softener and filtration which mean no salty water. I can speak to the hardware and warranties quite yet. It's still pretty new. We've had 0 issues with it thus far. read more

After 2 months of ownership, I have to say I really like both systems. I couldn't handle giving my pets hard water anymore. Really helps clean and its better for skin by far. When using my carpet cleaner it usually left the floor crunchy, not anymore and that makes a bunch of sense. Yeah its a little higher of a price than a DIY water softener but it has a lifetime warranty backed by the business as long as you're responsible and maintain it just like a car. I'm honestly not a fan of the soaps and detergents although they are better for the world, just feels a little dry. The demonstrator was very cool and showed us all the proof of how bad AZ tap water is, no smoke and mirrors. The install crew was my favorite, super chill and quick. We bought an RO and water softener from this company for the tune of 6k. We were told at the time if would be $150 to unhook and move to new home should we ever move. In actuality - it costs $150 just to unhook it - it could cost up to $500 more to hook it back up - yeah no - that's NOT what we were told. The $150 was an all inclusive # at the time of our conversation. The RO system is nice - not going to lie - but get it from somewhere else that does business the right way. I had a water purifier installed in June 2016. The installation went smoothly and was done the day after I signed the paperwork. It has been close to a year and I have no trouble with the system. Having the soft water in the house has made cleaning the showers and bathtubs in the house easier with greatly reduced hard water deposits. I also got the additional under sink R/O system for drinking water and it produces great drinking water. Overall I am happy with the product. read more

We just moved to Arizona and were shopping for water systems when they came by. We scheduled an appointment and the dude came by. He was really cool, and patient with our out of control 3 little kids running around. We liked how he showed us every little thing, and though the demo runs a bit long, it had a lot to cover. He even was able to use water and a dish sponge to take off a calcified smudge on the bathtub with just the treated water. We had tried all sorts of cleaners and abrasive scrubbers with no success. This sold me on it right there, well this and being told that it would get the fluoride out. After the demo came to a close I signed up, he called the credit service and got us started that day. Not just payment, Installation and everything happened later that day. Probably 3 hours after he said his goodbyes. The salesman, Deif, was really the reason I bought the system. He even invited us to his church. The installers were great, they hooked it all up, ran a line to the fridge from the RO Sink system. They left the soaps, and a bag of salt, and were very fun to interact with, we even talked about paintball and hockey. I have had no problems with the system and will keep you all posted on any developments. read more

I was working in the garage and a lady came by and said she was doing water testing for the City and asked if she could get a sample of water. She asked for a phone number, so I gave her mine (big mistake) because my roommate who owns the home doesn't like people having his phone number. A few days later I got a call from Valley Environmental Resources saying they had the water test results. They asked if I was the homeowner, and I said no. They said that only the homeowner can have the results, and they needed to speak to him. I told the person that he is not available, and they said they would call back. They called back and the homeowner didn't want to talk to them, so they said they would call back. I told them to please stop calling back because he doesn't want to talk to them. They said they are required to keep calling until they can speak to him. This has gone on for months and I'm really sick of constantly getting calls from this company. I finally blew up on them and screamed at them on the phone and told them to leave me alone, but they said they will still keep calling me. Finally the homeowner called them and told them to stop calling here. Now they are calling me again! This is a horrible way to do business--under false pretenses and constantly harassing me for sales even after telling them to stop calling. read more
