Dr. Kim personality is the first thing that will stand out to you when you talk to her. She's funny and very straight forward. She has been my optometrist for the last 6 or 7 years but it been like 4 years since I last visited. It was my fault but after doing my yearly physical, my primary doctor told me to go do my eye exam. I made an appointment and arrived early. I was able to find parking easily, I remember before it could be a hassle. My eye sight changed from the last time I did an eye exam here so I needed to get new prescription lens. I still like my Oakley frame so I prefer to keep using that one. So I had to get it sent out so they can put new lens on it. Make sure to have backup prescription glasses because it can take 2 or 3 weeks to be completed. Keep in mind that if you pay credit card there is a fee so try paying cash or having your debit card on you. read more

The WORSE optometrist I've ever been to. I have a prescription for reading in one eye and Lai said that she could prescribe a specific glasses that would help me. The one she prescribed was awful and didn't work at all. I asked for my money back then she tried to convince me that another one would work. When I went to pick up the second one, the girl monica at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending trying to speak to me like I am an uneducated woman when I am definitely more educated than she is. I will say Sasha was the only one to try and be respectful. The doctor didn't even come to see or check if I was OK with the second pair of glasses. Maybe they couldn't make as much money out of me as they do for other patients who knows or maybe they treat Black people differently. As you can tell from these reviews, they are very rarely have black patients. That monica at the front desk definitely treated the Hispanic patients differently to the way I was treated. After searching and researching, I went ahead and trusted these Yelp reviews to book my appt with Dr. Kim Lai. The last time I've seen an optometrist was almost 20yrs ago so I honestly didn't know what to expect. Dr. Lai was so sweet and explain to me that my eye health is just as equally important to my overall physical health. That over time our eyes/vision change but because the changes are slight, your brain slowly starts to adapt without you even recognizing it. Her office meets up to COVID precautions and the staff (Monica) is amazingly kind! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Dr. Kim is amazing. She takes her time with each patient and is often running behind, so give yourself some leeway when visiting. My prescription is the best I've received in years. The receptionist didn't seem all that engaged when I picked up my glasses. It looked crooked on my face but she didn't even notice. I had to adjust it when I got home and cracked the frame. There was also no follow up when I requested an emailed prescription and I had to go down in person. I've been using Dr Lai for my recurring eye checkups for several years now. Highly recommend. What I like most is that the office staff are all very friendly and they remember your name (okay "Bob" isn't that hard to remember...). Real bad attitude from Dr. Lai and hand me up on the phone when she called me. We when to her store on last Sat. and select a glasses with Premier Vision insurance under WellCare ($200.00 discount on the glasses) but she cannot verify with Premier Vision so Monica said she can held the glasses for my wife but have to wait until Tue of this week because the store close on Monday, by Tuesday I called Premier Vision and ask them to call Dr. Kim Lai's office. When Dr. Kim Lai's office call back yesterday, they said the glasses we select was sold, and I indicates we had been drive over one hour to reach their store and they have no right to sell a holding item and ask to talk to Dr. Lai, no response on Tuesday. About 10:15 am Dr. Lai call me and indicates I had a bad attitude against her employee and indicate they have the right to sell any unpaid item even it was request to put on hold for the office to verify against my insurance, the glasses is $134.00 which is way less than the $200.00 discount we shall have the eyeglasses. Just because they can not verify against insurance policy. She said they have a policy that they have right to sell any unpaid item and I asked her to show me the policy "IN WRITTING", she refuse to do so and say we are not welcome to her store and hand up the phone on me. The problem is her store can't verify my insurance policy, hold the glasses my wife want, and then sold the same glasses to somebody else, when I ask to show me the policy that they have right to sell any unpaid item (we have $200 room from Premier Vision to purchase a $134 glasses, if it is not your store problem, the glasses will be in our home so what is unpaid item?), her attitude was so bad because the fault is on her. Worst experience I have EVER encountered with a doctor. Very condescending, I was taken back by it. I walked out of the appointment because it was so bad. The push was to purchase glasses and not to address my eye concerns. I did not complete my eye exam and the doctor still charged my insurance and said I could pick up the prescription. I'm writing this review because I've been going to Dr. Lai for several years now and I feel I can write a honest and truthful review. Plain and simple, I will never go anywhere else to address my eye concerns. It feels like family when I go there and completely trust Dr. Lai's opinion like I would my own family member. I moved to the antelope valley after living in the valley and I still make the drive to see her for everything I need. The front desk people always make an effort to make their patients feel valued and I'm always greeted so warmly and welcoming. I highly recommend to book in advance since it's a small office though. I was always reluctant to go to smaller optometrist because I always worry about product pushing but everything the doctor has recommended to me was never pushy and usually fit me my needs better. Also - I have a very strong prescription and she really listens to my needs and wants. I hate being over prescribed for stronger lenses but she really finds the perfect balance of what I need and what I want. Thank you Dr. Lai and team! read more
