Went back to Valley for breakfast, ordered the steak and eggs with home fries, wheat toast & coffee. After i ordered a subpar pork chop the last time i visited i didnt think things could get any worse but Valley outdid themaelves. The steak was about 30% fat that i had to trim off, the remaining meat was low grade but edible. It was supposed to be cooked medium rare but was very well done. Most of the servers like Katie are very friendly but I am going to have to rethink ordering breakfast at Valley again in the future. read more

I come here for breakfast every time I'm in town visiting my dad. It's a great place that serves simple breakfast for a great price. Family friendly and welcoming. The staff is always great, definitely a spot that has a lot of regular customers. It's a diner so don't expect anything fancy, but you will get great food and great service. They can accommodate large groups, but depending how busy they are you will have to wait. read more

They have the most friendliest staff here! When I came with my mom and grandmother we were greeted by the hostess who had such a bright energy. She greeted us with a smile and quickly sat us at our seats. Our waitress Taylor came quickly to get our drinks, she was also wonderful. She was just so happy to be there and to take care of us. They have music playing in the background, but isn't loud and obnoxious. Everything was clean and well lit The food was great, my mom and grandmother had the stuffed French toast and I had the western omelet (which I forgot to take a picture of). My mom was practically drooling over the French toast and said that it had the perfect amount of everything. My omelet was great and the perfect serving size also! Tim has taken care of things twice and really brings a great upbeat experience. Nice little salad bar, and several desserts to choose from. Just to throw a few brief qualifiers on to my experiences here: 1. I would never dream of coming here for lunch or dinner. 2. That of course leaves breakfast as my point of reference. 3. While most breakfast things are simple, they can still be screwed up. Let me tell you something. There are several crazy or just outright stupid reviews for this place. Honestly, it's a diner first of all. Second, you know the place has been here forever and again it's still a diner, what in the hell did you expect? If you want something pretentious, overpriced and foofoo but with a diner twist head to Jones in Philly where you can get hosed for a ten dollar omelet or a twenty dollar meatloaf. Here it's just about simple, fast and friendly. The breakfast staff is the same everyday and after a visit or two some of them will remember your order or even your name. In terms of food it's mostly been the various omelets but the obvious star of the show is the old reliable ham and cheese. $3.35 for that baby with homefries and toast. Sorry brothers and sisters but that's probably the best deal in the area hands down. I mean sure it doesn't reinvent anything but you can do that here or you can go to somewhere like the Hanover Eatery (nothing wrong with that place by the way) or Perkins and pay double or nearly triple for the same thing. I'm not concerned with the decor here as it certainly is a bit frumpy but at the same time the booths aren't ripped and nothing is disgusting or smelly either. I would imagine that weekends bring crazy crowds but on weekdays this is an excellent hang with the blue haired, walker and wheel chair set. Good food, good service and excellent prices. read more

What a horrible experience tonight. I was excited for my meal but was extremely let down. I ordered the 1/2 Chicken Special over filling w/ gravy, 2 sides, soup and bread/butter. Sounded nice a comforting on a cold evening. Here's what I got: 1/2 chicken, dehydrated beyond belief. over I am still not sure if that was the "filling" or if was the side of mash potatoes that I didn't get. The side of corn looked like it was reheated 15 times, uneatable... Never got any bread/butter. They charged me extra for the soup that was supposed to be included. When the waitress came back over I expressed that I was not happy with my meal. She left and came back and said "the owner that cooked this is not here" I said, you mean that guy over there isn't here (the owner). Not my first time here and I have watched the staff tiptoe around this guy every time I've been there. Then she went back over and sat with him in his booth. I was ready to leave...after about 5 mins of them talking back and forth and trying to adjust my check. It resulted in him personally ringing me out and he took a whole $5.00 off my bill. He was not apologetic, sympathetic nor seemed liked he cared at all. I paid him, tipped the waitress and left. NEVER GOING BACK!!! read more

Service was great, I was the only one there. Started with the Italian wedding soup, which was flavorful, but a bit salty. Ordered the chicken croquettes with mashed potatoes. Plate was covered in gravy, not a problem at all. Mashed were cold, gravy was warm and croquettes were very hot; however, they reminded me of the Wendy's commercial, where the ... I couldn't seem to find any pieces of chicken in my croquettes. They had a crispy bread crumb outside with a mushy breading inside. I dissected one and couldn't find any meat. read more

Not the Palace Diner... in a good way. Though the chandelier central to the dining room will make you feel like you're in a palace if you care to know. What an experience. Yesterday my friend and I were taking the back way to Easton and saw this restaurant. Normally I would have checked Yelp first but we were en route and stopped here for some lunch. When we walked in there were many servers walking right by us without saying a word and had rather depressed looks on their faces. A few moments later an older woman came and sat us. The restaurant was very slow as it was around 11:15 AM. We waited approx ten minutes before a server came to take our order. She seemed neither happy or angry to see us, just rather robotic. My friend ordered the chicken parmesan plate and said she would like to hear what the soups were. The server who stated that she was new said to her that the soup was optional and wasn't quite sure as to what the soups were. My friend pointed out to her that the soup was included in the meal and that she would like to know what the soups were. My friend then pointed out on the menu that the soup was included after the server looked confused. My friend also asked what the vegetable selection was. The server also did not know this and proceeded to yell across the dining room to another server in which to ask her. That server was also unsure. Our server then went back to the kitchen to find out. Once the vegetable of the day was established (mixed vegetables) I took my turn at ordering. I chose a chicken breast club sandwich with chips. We received our food in good time. My friends chicken parmesan platter was adequate but nothing more according to her. My chicken breast club sandwich was actually very good but the bottom of bag potato chips and crumbs dumped in the middle of the plate was rather sad. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best my rating is as follows; Restaurant cleanliness: 8 Friendliness of staff: 3 Food temperature: 8 Food taste : 4 Server knowledge 2 Overall experience : 3 Will I return or recommend this place to others?? I am really happy that I found a restaurant that Vanessa W. HASN"T reviewed yet! Decided to go our for breakfast one recent Saturday. I have never been to Valley Family Restaurant, but have driven by it many times. There always seems to be a flood of cars there, so I figure that they must serve well prepared tasty food. I could not have been more off the mark. Although they were busy this Saturday, We was seated promptly. They do have a large selection of typical Greek diner fare and everything coming from the kitchen looked well prepared and plates were going back clean. A good indication that they must have great tasting food. I LOVE feta cheese, when in Greece, I couldn't eat enough of it. So, my selection came down to ordering the feta cheese omelet. My guest ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. I do not like my eggs overcooked and brown-and that is an indication to me that the "chef" knows how to cook and handle eggs and is also an indication of how well he handles other food. I remphasized that I do not want my eggs brown-it ruins the taste of the eggs. My guest was served her order well before mine and she received the wrong order. I understand this happens at times, but the order sat in front of her almost ten minutes before the waitress came back and asked how everything was. We informed her that this was the wrong order and I didn't even receive my omelet yet. She apologized and took the plate from in front of my guest and immediately walked to another table and served it to someone else! A definite health code violation-you cannot serve food then take it back and serve the same to another patron. When I finally received my omelet it was brown and charred-exactly how I asked it not to be. I didn't eat it and the waitress asked if she should send it back. I said no, "we'll just pay the check." I was hoping that the omelet would be taken off the check-it was actually a test to see if the owners were honest and cared about customer service-it was not. OK, I figure I won't come back and tell the owners I won't be back. One of my rules is that I NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES send food back. I worked in a kitchen and have seen what happens to food when it comes back. I went to pay the check and mentioned to the owner's wife that I didn't like the food and that I won't be back. She said that since I didn't send the omelet back that I must have been happy with it-even though I didn't eat it. We exchanged a few more words and I deduced that she KNEW I was served the eggs charred and knew that they went out of the kitchen that way: It was as if they burned them intentionally. We exchanged a few more words, then she said "Thank you sir for the wonderful compliments" in a very loud voice. She was trying, in effect, to make it sound as though I was being complimentary and not complaining. I look back on the incident and have to laugh...typical, though based on my experiences with this type of establishment. Definitely won't be going back... I've only got breakfast hear and it's very good. Home fries are awesome, sometimes I'll order just them when i crave them. French Toast is very good - thick texas toast style Pancakes are average - Scrambled eggs are good. Bacon is average. read more

My family and I have eaten here multiple times. Every time we say we're going here, my 9 year old daughter cringes. I've considered not going back, but the food this last time was so bad that my wife and I have reached the point that we will be spending our money elsewhere from now on. We typically order regular breakfast fare: 2 eggs over medium, homefries w/ fried onions, toast, meat (wife = bacon, me = scrapple), and coffee. The eggs are always cooked right. The toast is hit or miss, could be slightly over toasted but is usually on point. The meat is usually good and I have yet to have a piece of scrapple that was unsatisfactory, however my wife's bacon was way overcooked the last time. The homefries this last time were nasty. Tasted like old,season-less potatoes, and the fried onions were black (since they were medium diced there were a good amount of black char mixed throughout). I know a diner isn't the place for a typical chef to work, however if you believe that a fried/sauteed onion should be black, you're in the wrong business. Not only did the chef feel it was acceptable to serve, but the server and assumingly the owner (was present on my last visit) felt that it was OK. It wasn't and it was disgusting. Seriously has turned me away from the place. Service has always been good here. The business changed hands a little while back and it feels like everything has gone downhill since then. I kept it a 2 star review since I've had decent experiences here in the past, but if it were just based on this last visit, the review would be 1 star. read more

Like any diner, the food varies widely depending on what you order. We've had breakfast items that were absolutely delicious but pretty standard fare. We've also had some sandwiches that were excellent including the turkey club which really was best in class. However, I can only give this place three stars because it is a little bit dated. Service is friendly, but nothing out of the ordinary for a diner. Prices are extremely reasonable. So if you're looking for decent food for a bunch of people I don't set your expectations too high you find the valley a diner great place to stop by. read more

I've been going to the Valley Family Diner for over a year now & I really enjoy it for the most part. We usually go @ night & I have become friends w the night servers. They are very nice to us & we always get our food in a timely manner. The owners are friendly & very caring about their customers. We have gone during the day but the service is not near as good. I would suggest if you go there, go after 4pm. The service & the food is much better. The best servers are Katie, Mike, & Justin. They have dinner specials every night & the portions are good size. Great place to go!! Haven't been there in over ten (10) years due to the old management being very rude. Not very nice at all. To my surprise new management had taken over. It was a complete "360". The service was horrible, the waitress threw our straws at us she was just plain rude she was In our faces when she talked to us and reached over our food often. My straw was covered in coffee and she was not handling the plates properly (fingers way to close to the food and in it at some points) she interrupted the table talk and leaned over my friends plate to discuss the bill. I understand my group consisted of 6 people but that should not affect the quality of service. Normally I don't post reviews unless it was in the extremes either way. We have always gone to Valley and enjoyed our experience. However we heard there were new owners and wanted to check it out. Firstly, the food was hands down better than before. We had pancakes, bacon, creamed chipped beef, sausage, eggs, and a fruit cup (which was huge!! And contained a ton of fresh fruit). We have two small children so we were a pain with requests but the server was not only pleasant but truly made our experience enjoyable. Another huge plus is the owner was visibly on the floor WORKING with his employees, refilled our coffee, and introduced himself, also came back several times to ensure we were having a good experience. Absolutely excellent!! And even better news, come may they will be 24 hours which in my opinion is huge on this side of town. Go eat there! It was awesome. Kudos to the new owner for running a really good establishment. read more

The last time I went there was with a group of friends and lets just say we will not be going back. First off the Men's bathroom was so dirty that my friend couldn't even use it. Our waiter was friendly, he even let my friend get a kids meal. It was the owner that was the problem, she was very rude. She complained when I wanted to pay with a credit card, she yelled at my friend for getting a kids meal and overall she is the reason we will not go back. Service was just plain bad. I waited about 45 minutes for a single plate of eggs. I wondered if the waitress plain forgot about me. Their is certainly a crowd there for brunch on weekends so it's not all bad. The food is average diner fare and is solid and filling. What I did manage to eat there was decent and it wasn't too expensive. I came back once for the roast chicken dinner special and it was only okay. I love the waitresses here. They work very (too) hard and are very sweet and caring. Since the former owners sold to new owners, we have tried to support them, as before, but I cannot any longer. The prices have risen (but are still very reasonable) but there has been no commensurate improvement in the quality of food. On the contrary. Today an experienced waitress who is an excellent, well-loved and dedicated employee, dropped a little paper cup of butter onto the (carpeted) floor. Instead of trying to help her, the young receptionist/cashier (daughter of the owner) just pointed at the dirty floor and said "Look what you have done! Look what you have done!" I felt it was disrespectful and unhelpful for a young woman to try and humiliate a long-term employee in this way, because it was a rare accident that had occurred. The poor waitress was pressed and overworked and did not do this on purpose. It was an accident, not a calamity. The receptionist was acting like a queen, and the waitress was her subject. After eating a meal of french toast and 2 eggs, I felt sick. Diarrhea followed. Not fun. I suspect the breakfast (eggs not cooked enough?) caused this, and since this is not the first time my stomach has reacted in this way after eating here, it was my last visit to Valley Family. I have come here three times and each time was dinner time. They were very busy so it must be a popular place. The workers never seemed stressed despite how busy they seemed to be, they looked like they were in their groove. I was kind of impressed by how fast they were able to do things. I never was as fast as these gals when I was a waitress in my teens. They seem to know their flow. I was a waitress for five years so I know a good one when I see one. This crew was very in sync. Even one girl who wasn't waiting on us covered a side and drink refill for us, so they seem to work as a team which is really cool I thought. The food is always well prepared and affordable, even when you eat like a pig like me. Hey, I can out eat most guys, and yeah I'm proud of that, okay? But seriously, the service was spot on it seemed and never were we waiting long to be seated or get served our food. read more
